    Levante UD Appointed New Manager!
New Appointed Manager Bryan Colmenares has been appointed to Levante UD in hopes of bringing the teams recognition up in the League this season. Colmenares is a former Colombian Midfielder with plenty of experience on the field. When Colmenares held his first press conference to the club, he stated, " I hope to bring this club to a new level of football. We may not have the talent such as Barca, Madrid, Valencia, or Villareal, but to get to the top, I manage to take apart the old teachings of this club and to bring a new glimmer of hope to the Chairman...maybe a trophy if possible!" *laughs* "In all seriousness, my mindset is on this season and on this team, it will take time to re-construct, but with time any team can be dominant." Later than evening the Chairman Quico Catalàn announced the friendlies below.
    Season Friendlies
    • July 30th, 2011 - Levante UD v FC Sochaux
    • August 6th, 2011 - Levante UD v FC Shalke 04
    • August 13th, 2011 - Levante UD v Fiorentina

    Match Report

    Levante UD:
    :goal: 58' Juanlu
    :yellowcard: 44' Javi Venta
    :( 68' Beckham (Inj.)

    FC Sochaux:
    :goal:57' 70' M.Maïga

    (Home/Away)

    Goals: 1 / 2

    Fouls: 2 / 0
    Corner Kicks: 4 / 0
    Tackles: 21/ 12
    Possession: 44% / 56 %

In the 57' Maïga found a deadly cross to the center in what the goalie appeared to have thought was a run by FCSM's player, the goalie came out for a tackle but he crossed the ball in an opportunistic goal scorer. Not even a minute after, Levante countered at the start with a cross in from Konè which deflected off a player into the placement of Juanlu's forehead leading to the 1-1 draw! Later in the match towards the 70th minute after Beckham's sprain, FCSM took an opportunity with a man down on Levante's side and pressed, a short pass was made from the 18, to Maïga who cut right past the defender and scored a nicely placed ground ball to earn his brace. At the 87' what might have seemed to be the equalizer turned into a very sad ending, a beautiful cross by Konè got past one defender's head and a volley by Juanlu who was perfectly placed in the center, and hit just off the top of the crossbar and out of play! The after match press conference was quite not what was expected by the new manager Colmenares as he stated, "They played the way I wanted them too, this match was a perfect warm up before the season starts, Beckham on the other hand will be treated so that he is in top form for the season." Not seeming disappointed on the loss, the manager held strong as the conference came to a close.

Welcome to another loss for Levante this pre-season as a replay of what happened last week just happened again! Another 2-1 loss for the Colombian managers squad, with the absence of Beckham for the following weeks how will Levante respond? Mr.Colmenares replied, "We're taking the time to work on what needs to be improved, in the past two games I've seen lack of possession and finishing, something crucial needed in this league.",he said. For the recap of the match, in the 20' mark, L.Holtby with what appeared to be a cross (which it was) dipped in the net, as it beat the keeper and the defender in the back post, his teamates celebrate the amazing goal but there was yet to come. At the last minute of the half K.Huntaleer capitalized on a deflected ball from a defender in the 6 yard box, and took a low shot on the goalie leading to the 2-0 lead. Later in the half 5 minutes later, Valdo played a cross to the center with his right foot, it curled towards the goal where a slightly offside Juanlu met it with a beautiful diving header! And into the back of the net for the 2-1. Juanlu seems to be on a hot streak for headers but rumors say Colmenares isn't to pleased with the forwards lack of speed, Konè is dominating the team with his speed as striker but can't finish. Possibly he could be looking for strikers at the end of the season if possible.

And for the third straight loss this pre-season Manager Bryan Colmenares is certainly keeping his hopes up," I'm still arranging the starting 11 over and over to see who fits best where...it is very difficult when the teams chemistry is partially low...hopefully we can win corners more as I've noticed this preason my personal objectives are to win corners, possession, and come back from a conceded goal." For todays highlights, at the 14 minute mark M. Cassani with some nice dribbling skills in the box, entering from the right, he shoots to the low left corner of the net and the goalies reactions conceded the first goal. At the 28' mark, Juanlu took off at an advantage, 1 on 1 with the keeper, he tried to chip it, but just shy as the keeper deflected it out.On the counter attack just after, at the 36' , M. Cassani dribbled by not 1, not 2, but 3 defenders, getting into a 1 on 1, and shot to the near post as it bounced in for the 2-0 lead.

    Tackles: 19/ 18
    Possession: 39% / 61 %

A bad start to the season, losing at home 1-0, with as many opportunities given to Levante tonight, heere's the recap and highlights, at 11' Hélder Postiga cuts right past 2 defenders catching the goalie off gaurd, and took a shot to the lower corner, around the 76th, a corner, taken by Beckham, headed by Konè , OFF THE POST, landed on Juanlu's foot, and he couldn't get rid of it on time as he shot it at the keeper and it deflected out. Second corner attempt, Beckham again at the back post! Almost in net! But the keeper hits it over for a third corner. Suarez with the left. Deadly center! But the defender beat the shortened Juanlu. Colmenares stated,"Corners and height problems seem to have been the problem" *chuckles* "Maybe Juanlu should practice a little bit more on shots than heading it."
