    GRUNER Continues to put up big numbers, why HE deserves the Heisman

    Sr. QB Brad Gruner has been the main reason New Mexico is off to a 5-2 (4-0) start. Gruner is at or near the top of every major statistical category for QBs. He has completed 162-237 (68%) for 2342 yards, 22 TDs and only 2 INTs. He has also done a great job of spreading the ball around to numerous receivers. Here are some stats to keep in mind: 1) Not one WR has over 570 yards. 2) 7 different players have caught TD passes 3) Six player have more than 10 catches and also more than 100 yards 4) New Mexico's WRs have dropped 29 passes 5) His TD-to-INT ratio is 11 to 1

    Game 1 vs. Stanford- 24/31 336 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs.
    Game 2 vs. NMSU- 24/36 363 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs.
    Game 3 at Wazzou- 11/21 234 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs.
    Game 4 vs. TCU- 21/31 262 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs.
    Game 5 at BYU- 20/29 351 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs.

    Recruiting Updates/Rumors

    Quarterback: The Lobos are expected to take two commitments here.
    1. :4stars: Tyrone Ross has the Lobos on top but will give Georgia Tech a look.
    2. :4stars: Chandler Cooper is expected to sign with the Lobos any day now.

    Runningback: No prospects to note.

    Wide Receiver: Saban is stock-pilling big, physical WRs.
    1. :4stars: Ryan Johnson has narrowed his choices to five and the Lobos lead.
    2. :4stars: Zac Moore is also down to five with UNM ahead.
    3. :3stars: Jermaine Miller has recently announced UNM leads.

    Tackle: Saban would like to sign at least two.
    1. :2stars: Chad Campbell is expected to commit to UNM soon.
    2. :3stars: Benjamin Weldon has stated he will visit UNM
    3. :3stars: Kyle Robinson has yet to mention the Lobos
    4. COMMITTED :2stars: Jamar Horne was Saban's first commit here at UNM.

    Guard: one to two players.
    1. :4stars: Bruce Thomas has yet to mention UNM.
    2. :3stars: Sam Stephens also has failed to mention the Lobos.
    3. :2stars: Bryce Smith has UNM on top... for now.
