Looking back at your first recruitng class...(2010)

are your recruits fulfilling your expectations you had when you originally brought them into your program? most of them should be at least redshirt Sophomores if not juniors......

*****These four guys turned out to be exactly what i hoped for.... Three of them started as freshman and two of them could go pro after their junior years... Nelson won the Thorpe award last year and led the nation in tackles... Bowers has 14 picks in 2 seasons and could break the Career School Interception record if he keeps up his current pace this season.... Morris has been a steady starter at OLB for 2seasons...Smith played in the slot his freshman and sophomore year and he been a gamebreaker since we put him there....

    G 61 Thomas Rogers :3stars: 6'2'' 289 5.12

These players listed below either redshirted or didnt see alot of playing time as freshman but really blossomed as Sophomores and are not counted upon to play a signficant role.....

*****Stallings wanted to be a Yellow Jacket for a while, but came to his senses and chose Charlottesville, he is the starting center for the Wahoos as a redshirt sophomore.... Hamby came in second place for the Heisman last season and broke just about every single season receivng record Virginia has... Grant got some mop up carries last season at tailback behind Mack, and Millen but this season his is splitting carries with transfer Rodney Scott...Jeff Jackson is one of the captains of the defense and the starter at Right inside linebacker, he started as a redshirt freshman last season and was named to the freshman all-american team. Cobb and Rogers both patiently waited two seasons and are now starters along the Cavaliers offensive line...

    OLB 38 Danny Woods :3stars: 6'1'' 217 4.6

*****These players listed below are still patiently waiting their turns to see the field and help the program....
Of those mentioned here, Hartman is almost a lock to start at DE next season if not sooner... Brown will step in at LOLB for the senior Greer next season....Danny Woods is hoping Larry Morrris decides to declare for the draft, so he can get on the field....Robinson, Bobo, Boyd and Nichols are all helpful on special teams.... Wright decided to transfer to ECU (I think).. the writing was on the wall for him, he didnt have a real shot at playing....

    The gems of the class

    ATH 4 Anthony Richardson :4stars: 5'11'' 179 4.3
    T 12 Jim Lewis :4stars: 6'4'' 301 4.98
    SS 19 James Davis :4stars: 6'0'' 211 4.44
    FS 14 Ross Lundy :3stars: 6'0'' 177 4.46
    MLB 28 Marcus Scott :3stars: 5'10'' 237 4.7
    ATH 24 Tyrell Woods :3stars: 6'4'' 203 4.50
    SS 59 Frank Johnson :3stars: 6'2'' 190 4.44

Richardson was moved to CB and has saw significant time the last two years on special teams and passing situations. He's a bit more physical than his size may indicate. SS James Davis is a two time All-American working on his third year of starting. He's a big SS who can play the run and is a sure tackler. Woods was moved to OLB and could end up being the best player out of this class. He's big, strong, fast and does it all. His first start was the opener against baylor where he had double digit tackles a sack and a INT for a TD.

    DE 1 David Malloy :4stars: 6'5'' 232 4.66
    T 3 Garrett Williams :4stars: 6'4'' 296 5.02
    SS 6 Teddy Alexander :4stars: 6'5'' 210 4.54
    WR 6 Ryan Sampson :4stars: 5'10'' 191 4.4
    HB 11 Keith Slaughter :4stars: 6'1'' 219 4.52
    DT 13 Mike Williams :4stars: 6'4'' 291 5.02

Malloy is entering his first year of starting and could be great. It's too early to tell if he will develop consistent moves to come off the outside in passing situations. His long frame provides excellent block shedding against the run. Alexander probably could have had a chance at starting at the SS spot had Davis decided to go elsewhere. He is a LB playing safety and has plenty of coverage skills. Slaughter earned the backup RB spot behind Christine Michael. He runs hard but hasn't shown enough consistency to lean on as a weapon yet.

    WR 21 Ben Campbell :4stars: 6'0'' 170 4.46

    G 33 Paul Fagan :3stars: 6'2'' 350 4.9
    SS 35 Tucker Bryan :3stars: 6'2'' 211 4.52

Not much I can say here. LB Corey Lee was dismissed from the team last year after getting into trouble with local authorities and skipping classes. WR Ben Campbell could become a productive wideout if he shows a good offseason, he is currently fifth on the WR depth chart. FS Melvin Washington was beat last year for the backup FS spot by :3stars: Ross Lundy, someone he should have clearly outplayed. DE Damien Robinson can't seem to claw his way up the depth chart to get any reasonable amount of playing time to be evaluated.

HB #1 David Lawrence :5stars: 5'11" 195 4.34 -:RS: OVR 91, RB2, Change of pace back, total stud, will contend for a Heisman if he hangs around.
HB #4 Brandon Johnson :4stars: 6'0" 213 4.56 -:RS: OVR 58, FB1, Led team is rushing on route to NC berth, made move to FB.
    FS #4 Dwayne Brown :4stars: 6'1" 193 4.52 - Transfered?
HB #9 Leon Jefferson :4stars: 6'1" 213 4.42 - :RS: OVR 88, RB3, lost in the shuffle a bit, still will be an impact player down the road.
QB #6 Adam Greene :4stars: 6'2" 216 4.64 - :RS: OVR 80, QB2, very disappointing progression, hope he never gets the keys to the Ferrari.
    C #4 Andrew Dunn :4stars: 6'0" 295 5.06 - :RS: OVR 90, C1, complete beast, all-american written all over him.
    OLB #10 Lewis Heinz :4stars: 6'5" 223 4.66 - :RS: OVR 87, LOLB3/MLB2, Starting in the new 3-4, like what I have seen.
CB #14 Tomothy Houston :4stars: 6'2" 187 4.44 - :RS: OVR 89, CB1, 2nd year as a starting CB, on the verge of lock down territory.
SS #16 Kurt Justice :4stars: 6'0" 197 4.52 - :RS: OVR 85 SS2, Came in equal to Overstreet, lost the job and the sest is history, odds are wont see the field.
MLB #25 Steve Miller :4stars: 6'2" 210 4.64 - :RS: OVR 81, MLB3, huge disappointment, does not have speed or size, career backup.
FS #12 John Landrum :3stars: 6'3" 190 4.44 - :RS: OVR 88, FS2, Can play anywhere in the secondary, and is our nickel corner, big surprise here.
OLB #20 Tyler Holland :3stars: 6'2" 215 4.48 - :RS: OVR 88, ROLB1, great combo of speed and power, soon to be heart and soul of defense.
TE #30 Josh Jones :3stars: 6'5" 223 4.90 - :RS: OVR 85, TE2, he is an O-Guard at TE, actually rates in at mid 80's as a lineman, slow but I love to run behind him.
CB #45 Charles King :3stars: 6'1" 169 4.46 - :RS: OVR 80, CB4, average at best, never will be anything more than a nickel corner if that.
SS #36 Mark Overstreet :3stars: 6'3" 207 4.48 - :RS: OVR 87, SS1, finished 2nd in Thorpe as a RS F, huge play maker, the 3-4 changes his role so we won't see those numbers again, 3rd highest rated SS from the '10 class, not bad for the #36 ranked SS.
    [/CENTER]

*no idea what happened to Brown, I think he left when Bruce did my recruiting, he was a bust anyway so thanks Bruce. Overall Im happy with this class, Greene is the guy I wished developed that just hasn't yet. The 3 3-stars, Landum, Holland and Overstreet have been huge for me, real diamonds in the ruff.

I am going to take a look now. I'll edit this post. Unfortunately this will be the only season I'll be able to do with a chart since I missed the 2010 offseason, and forgot to save my file offline this year and don't have a chart. Ugh. I'll get one going for this season's recruiting for sure!

    The Best
G James Moore: JUCO, RS - 87 ovr - Starting RG - Turned out okay for a JUCO, only starting this year as a senior, good player
DE Jeff Blair: RS - 83 ovr - Starting LE - Still needs to progress more but he plays better than his rating
TE Jordan Martin: RS - 81 ovr - TE 2 - Good blocker with decent speed, might move to TE 1 next year as he is a better receiver than TE 1 now
T Barry Bennett: RS - 86 ovr - Starting LT - Everything I hoped when recruited, good progression and will continue to get better!
MLB Eugene Holloway: RS - 87 ovr - Starting ROLB - BEAST! More than I hoped, he is a stud and my favorite player from this class

    Waiting in the Wings
WR Bubba Cantrell: RS - 84 ovr - Slot WR - decent hands, no speed, will need to continue to develop hands for him to have a place on the team
SS Tim Ewing: RS - 86 ovr - SS 3 - Good progression, waiting for his turn to start
WR Bruce Reid: RS - 83 ovr - WR 4 - Somewhat of a dud, but could start next year due to good speed, needs to improve hands drastically
CB Ken Robinson: RS - 87 ovr - CB 4 - Good cover guy, should start next year
DE Braylon Burton: 84 ovr - Starting RE - Kind of meh for his size, needs to gain strength and block shedding to hold his starting spot, the jury is out on him
DT Shannon McDonald: RS - 83 ovr - DT 3 - Better than expected, will be a good starter next season

    The Rest
SS Charles Edwards: RS - 82 ovr - Moved to FS, Currently FS 3 - will back up next season
CB Donnell Jacobs: RS - 82 ovr - CB 6 - Slow but could see time as a nickel back at some point, maybe not
HB Kareem Rivera: RS - 77 ovr - Moved to WR, Currently WR 5 - can contribute if hands develop

    The Duds
DT Keenan Crooks: RS - 83 ovr - DT 4 - BUST for the moment, weak and no power
DT D.J. Burton: RS - 70 something ovr - Moved to LE - Career backup, huge BUST
QB Jay Davis: RS - 85 ovr - QB 4 - Career backup, younger guys are better than him
SS Chuck Hughes: RS - 83 ovr - Career backup, very very meh
FB T.J. Harper: RS - 79 ovr - FB 2 - will move to FB 3 next year, bench player and a candidate to be cut

The guys that have become starters are Terrance Morris, Ramon Turner, Terry Carter, Joe Sanders, Jake Higdon, Von Lyles.

Ramon Turner is the best player in this class as he has been a three year starter and is having a great season as a 91 OVR DE this year.

Louis Cochran has been the most disappointing, in that he hasn't progressed and has 5 CB's ahead of him. He may never see the field at UCLA.

Im hoping John Conception has a solid year this year, he will be counted on next year.

Walter Holt has been a starter since day 1 & he hasn't disappointed. He is in his JR year so I'm hoping he stays for his SR year.

Thomas McKenzie is only a RS SO & he is not even a starter. He has been really good at stopping the run when it gets to the 2nd level.

Antonio Castillo is a RS SO & is my starting CB. He has great speed @ 92 overall & in the low 90s in man & zone coverage

You know, I hear you on that, but I am okay with having a non-stud as a backup guy. He won't transfer and will see the field sparingly. I wish he was a little better, but maybe he will progress a bit (doubtful). If it was a 4* guy in the same situation I would be worried about losing him, so it's not all bad.

Okay, he's kind of bad :D

the D awareness is probably what made me stay away... at Safety especially strong safety, awareness is huge for me especially because i am not on that side of the field often.. he has to be able to cover his side...

Jerry Jones took over the starting HB job this year and is looking to make some noise.

Hiram Beck is playing well and is my #1 CB.

Michael Buchanan is my slot WR and always comes up with a grab when I need it.

Justin Roberts is my starting RT.

Derron Horne starts at LE and is doing a nice job of getting to the QB.

Connor Brown is all over the place starting at SS.

    The rest are backups.

Ervin has worked his way into the lineup because of some injuries in our secondary and its gonna be tough to sit him when Mackey and Reynolds return next week...

Any changes as these guys enter their Senior years?

    J. Freeman has turned into the core of my starting line. He was over 20 pancakes last year.

Ashley Graham is the most complete player on my team. He will go down as one of the best recruits that Nebraska will ever have.

Jerry Wright cant stay healthy, but so far this year he is. He leads the team in receptions, and is a true downfield threat.

Jamie Howard is my shutdown corner. No doubt he is the most complete corner on my team.

Josh Ham is the heart and soul of the Nebraska defense. I never would have thought that the two Nebraska kids would be leading the Huskers four years later.

As this group enters their senior year (for the most part a few junior RS) Hamby is the main cog of the class.... hold just about every Virginia receiving or will be the end of the season.....
Hartman and Nichols are starters on the d-line now..
Bowers has started at corner for 4 seasons, and is closing in on the School Record for Interceptions....
Nelson and Jeff Jackson have already left the program to play on Sundays..
Rogers Cobb and Stallings all start on the O-line as Redshirt Juniors....
Morris has been moved inside to MLB due to injuries and has excelled inside....
Adam Grant is splitting carries with Rodney Scott......
Danny Woods is out for 10 weeks with an injury but was starting at ROLB
Jermaine Brown has taken over for Woods outside and has been quite frankly dominant...
