Starting off with a bang !

Lousiville came into the week one rivalry matchup against SEC cellar dwellar Kentucky looking to make a statement , and that statement seemed to stutter worse than legendary LB Bobby Bouche' in this one. Standout WR Eli Rodgers (pictured above) returned the kickoff 96 yards to open the game as it appeared erly on that this one could get out of hand, but that just never was the case.

The Kentucky Wildcats came into Papa John stadium and ran the ball all over the Cardinals in this game , to the tune of 318 yards 2 TD's on the day , but QB Maxwell Smith's 2 INT and 2 fumbles doomed the Cats in this one. The game could have men much different for Louisville had Smith held onto the rock.

THe Cardinals did have some bright spots in this close game , as well as some frustrations. Standout WR Eli Rodgers had 286 all purpose yards today (2 rec 70 yards 1 TD 216 special teams yards 1 TD). Backup QB Will Stein looked sharp as he came in after Bridgewater left the game with a bruised foot, throwing for 218 yards 2 TD's.

Look for the Cardinals to try to clean things up next week as they take on Michigan State on the road.
