    LSU Tigers

    Playbooks
    Off: LSU
    Def: 4-3

    Players to Watch
    Charles Scott:
Nicknamed "Chuck the Truck" by fans, this 233 lb power back is likely to be climbing towards the top of all your favorite NFL mock drafts. Great vision, strength, and soft hands make Scott a player that every team on LSUs schedule will fear.

    Trindon Holliday"
The littlest Tiger, standing only 5'6" with cleats, Holliday is one of the most dangerous kick returners in the nation. Holliday combines world class track speed with the ability to change directions in the blink of an eye.

    Brandon Lafell:
Lafell has grown from being a 3 star recruit to an NFL ready wide receiver. His decision to return for his senior season to improve his draft status is likely to pay off. He is a smooth runner with deceptive speed and hands that have consistently improved over his career. He is a threat to score anytime he catches the ball in stride.

    Chad Jones:
A freak of nature, Jones is a "big" safety with superb safety speed. He is deadly on the blitz and utilized best when he can roam freely and just make plays.

    Rahim Alem:
The brother of the freak safety, Alem is a nasty pass-rush defensive end. Alem has all the tools to get to the quarterback. His only downside is that he is known for being overly aggressive, racking up offsides and late hit penalties.

LSU picked up their first verbal commit from the 2010 class today as Lou Bates of Louisville, MS gave the Tigers his verbal pledge. The 6'1" 225 lb Bates is rated as a 4 star and is the 8th best MLB prospect in the nation. He is a key to the Tigers' class as LSU will only have one returning MLB on the roster next year. Bates is also rated as the 5th best player from the state of Mississippi and is rated #203 overall in the country. His best attributes are his tackling and his strength. Coach Geaux is hoping that this commitment will convince more recruits to jump on board soon.

LSU picked up 6 huge commitments during the weekend of the Auburn game. The wave of new Tigers included two 5 star players, CB Kyle Tucker and SS Ryan Ford. They have vaulted to the top of the recruiting class rankings with 2 :5stars:, 4 :4stars:, and 2:3stars:.

Tucker committed to LSU over offers from Oklahoma State and Auburn. He is considered to be the best cornerback in the country and the #7 player overall. He has exceptional speed, agility, and acceleration. He is projected to be more suitable for zone coverage.

In a very strong year for strong safeties, Ford is considered the 5th best SS. However, he is said to be the 20th best overall prospect in the country. He is also considered to be the best player from the state of Louisiana. At 6'5", Ford is a safety that can lay the lumber. He is known as a guy that can fly to the ball and knock someone's head off. Ford visited Oklahoma and USC before giving his pledge to the Tigers.

    LSU also picked up:

    #6 MLB - Loren Hall (TX) :4stars:
    #8 CB - Brad Lee (TX) :4stars:
    #38 CB - Carnell Fraser (LA) :3stars:
    #11 TE - Stephen Jacques (TX) :3stars:

Hall committed to LSU over offers from Texas and Florida State. He takes good pursuit angles and is a sure tackler.

Lee projects as a solid defender in both man and zone schemes. He also had an offer from Florida State.

Fraser projects as a potential nickle or dime back in the future. He isn't flashy, but has good man coverage and press skills.

Jacques also had an offer from pass heavy Texas Tech, but chose the Tigers and their balanced attack. He believes the best way to develop into a tight end with pro potential is to learn how to block as well as catch.

DE Carl Johnson is a 4 star prospect out of Louisiana. He is rated as the 15th best DE in the country. He is the #13 recruit overall in the state of Louisiana. He is a hard hitter and is tremendous in pursuit.

Four prospects from the Class of 2010 decided to become Tigers during the bye week. These include 4 star recruits James Evans (SS) and Andy Roberson (OLB) as well as 3 star recruits Brandon Wyatt (TE) and Larry Carey (DT). Evans commitment gives the Tigers both the #5 SS and the #5 FS from the class.
