Pats wanted to look at depth this first preseaon game and wanted to see who deserved to survive cuts. The Starters would play the first qrt, Defense would force a 3 and out and Brady would get the first 2 TD's to Rob Gronkowski first on a Out route the second on a beautiful Post route where Gronk kept both toes in bounds. Starters would score 14 Points and hold Eagles starters scoreless. The Pats Backups played great scoring 31 more points to win the game 45-14.
Titans 41 Redskins 33The Titans were able to outscore the Redskins in a shootout in preseason week 1. Both teams were moving the ball at will and the only time it looked like either defense could get a stop is if they forced a turnover. Luckily the Titans won the turnover battle forcing two turnovers and only having one themselves. The Titans also had a kickoff return and an interception return for touchdowns. Chris Johnson only got three carries this game but with his big play making ability he got 52 yards and a touchdown. Jake Locker didn't see much action either, only throwing it twice but he did mange to complete both attempts.
Chargers win Home Opener against Houston, 33-28
Houston and San Diego started of the M25 RS league with the first game of the regular season today... and it did not disappoint!
Both teams started out slow, which is to be expected in the first game of the season. The first score of the game came when Arian Foster punched it in the endzone with 1 minute left in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead.
San Diego then started to put together a nice drive; however, they stalled and were forced to kick a 49 yard FG to make it 7-3. Houston answered on their next drive. They put together a slow, balanced drive and topped it off with an 11 yard TD pass to, who else... Andre Johnson! The Chargers took a 14-3 lead and the Chargers knew they had to make something happen before halftime. Royal made a nice 40-yard kickoff return to set up nice field position and San diego got a quick score with a 19 Yd screen pass to Ryan Matthews with 1:09 left in the half. The San Diego defense then forced a quick 3 and out to get the ball back with with just under a minute to play. With great field position, Philip Rivers made a couple short passes to put the Chargers in field goal range and made it a 14-13 game at halftime!
The Chargers had momentum going into the second half, and they took advantage of it. They got an interception by Donald Butler in the end zone and then Denario Alexander caught a pass, made a defender miss, and took it 67 yards for a TD to make it 20-14 Chargers. Houston then answered back with a quick 45 second drive and Foster took a draw 24 yards for a TD. However, Chargers answered back with a 7 yard TD run by Ryan matthews to take a 6 pt lead going into the 4th quarter.
The Chargers played conservative in the 4th quarter, got 2 field goals, and got an interception from Derek Cox to seal up the victory.

Lions spoil Geno Smith's professional debut with three picks in preseason opener, 27-14
The Detroit Lions first stringers scored on their opening drive and kept the Jets from scoring with timely int's by Bentley and the secondary held Smith at bay. The Jet's opted to keep Smith in the game and the Lions went with back-up Shawn Hill for the duration of the game after the second quarter. Hill threw two int's and 2 touchdowns. One pick was made by Dee Milliner, who the Lions passed on in the previous draft who made great coverage on Johnson and the other Lions receivers. Geno Smith also punched in a QB read option touchdown scamper but had some accuracy issues with the Lions D-Line providing pressure. After a long drive by the Jets in the fourth quarter the Lions iced the game with a pick by back-up FS Don Carey to seal the win.

Bears win at home against Bengals 31-14
The Chicago Bears came into the season with tempered expectations, with new a completely new coaching staff and ownership. First week of the season saw the Bengals come to Soldier Field in hopes of another playoff bound season, however the Bears finished the day on top, beating the visiting Bengals 31-14. The blan of attack on the day was balance, and that's just what the Bears executed with 23 passing plays and 22 rushing plays on the day. QB Jay Cutler was his usual self throwing 2 INTs, but also helped carry the team with 283 yards and 2 TDs. Matt Forte had an efficient day on the ground with 17 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown. The player of the game had to be WR Brandon Marshall, who continued his chemistry with Cutler by catching 6 balls for 141 yards and 2 TDs, including a fan-igniting breakaway catch that ended in Marshall lowering his head and steamrolling through Bengals Strong Safety George Iloka and into the end zone. The Bears defense was up to its usual shenanigans, forcing 3 turnovers on the day. The one bright spot for the Bengals today was the play of All-Pro WR A.J. Green, who hauled in 5 catches for 106 yards.
Great game as usual, Snake Eyez. Always a pretty even contest when we match up. GL the rest of the season man.

WEEK 1: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers traveled into New York to open up the year with a 41-27 win! It was a tough battle but the game down to the better defense. The new acquisitions of CB Darrelle Revis and FS Dashon Goldson proved to be a difference makers on that side of the ball. Of course the Muscle Hamster, HB Doug Martin, had a huge impact on the offensive side. New owner, Trent Siddle, wanted Martin to carry the load for the young Bucs and he did just so. Teams were back and forth until the Bucs went up 21 late in the 3rd quarter. This was too big of a difference with Doug Martin pounding out multiple first downs in the 4th quarter. The Jets are on the rise with Chief9 handling the team. His young team will only improve with experience. Great Game Chief9 !! Hope to play you again soon!!

The week 1 kickoff in Carolina started out strong. Cam Newton wanted to remind everyone he's still in the league as he's been over shadowed by so many of the young read option QB's. The first drive was long but ended with a Cam Newton pass for a TD. The Seahawks offense started clicking the further game went on however any success was overshadowed by an untimely turnover. The Seahawks had 4 turnovers to Carolina's zero which was the only true difference today.
Jax wins home opener
Jacksonville gets the win beating the Chiefs 25-17. The Chiefs would get on the board first with a 50 FG from Buehler. After a nice drive stalled on the five, Scobee would answer with a FG of his own. The Chiefs could not get things going in the second quarter with the defense harassing Alex Smith and picking him off. The offense would capitalize with a 22 yard pass from Gabbert to Shipley for the TD and another Scobee kick, this time from 50. The score at the end of the half was 12-3. The third quarter started with another stalled drive in the red zone that ended with a FG. After a long kick return by Charles, Alex Smith would hit Bowe for a nice TD to close the gap. The offense had things clicking in the fourth netting a FG and TD pass to Shorts to stretch the lead. KC would put together a drive that consisted of alot of read option before Cyrus Gray would break one for 39 yards. Chiefs tried the onside kick, but was unsuccessful. Rams Win Season Opener vs Cardinals
The St. Louis Rams kickoff the 2013 NFL Season with a 38-24 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams displayed a well balanced offensive attack and played opportunistic defense. For the first 3 quarters the Cardinals had no problems moving the football up and down the field, mainly through the air. Larry Fitzgerald had a HUGE game and came up with some big plays on 3rd downs throughout the game. "We have to sure up somethings in the secondary. We can not be giving up big plays on 3rd down because eventually that type of undisciplined defense is going to cost us a game." On the offensive side of the football the Rams were able to use their running game to opening up the passing game. Daryl Richardson carried the football 28 times and averaged 4.6 yards per carry. "Our offensive line played really well. We were able to control the game by running the football which really helped us open up with our passing game. The Rams travel to Atlanta next week to take on the high octane offense of the Atlanta Falcons. The Rams will see a familiar face in the Falcon's backfield in long time Ram's running back Steven Jackson.

Reggie Bush Leads the Lions With 3 Touchdowns in a 34-17 Upset Over Minnesota
The Detroit Lions had a pretty obvious offensive attack for the past couple of seasons, throw the ball to Calvin Johnson and everyone get out of the way. "We needed to get someone in here that could have big play ability and take the load off of Calvin's shoulders." coach Jim Schwartz said during his press conference after the game. "It became too easy for defenses to plan against us and we needed to address that."
The Lions did just that by shocking the Vikings in the season opener with a hard fought victory. The Lions started off by holding the Vikings to a slow start by forcing a three and out and capping a long drive by a Reggie Bush touchdown run, which he would have three for the game along with a heads up QB sneak touchdown scamper by Stafford. The Vikings quickly responded by picking off Stafford and adding touchdown score of their own with a touchdown pass to Jarius Wright and the Vikings were right back in it. After another stop, the Vikings were looking to capture to momentum of the contest and were knocking on the door again, inside the Lions 10 in the second quarter. After 3 stops, the Vikings were facing a fourth and short and decided to keep the kicker on the sidelines and go for it. The Lions front stepped up and stuffed the Peterson run, keeping the Vikings from scoring and taking the wind out of their sails for good. "It was the play of the game in my opinion" Schwartz said "We were lucky to stop the best running back in the league like that.".
Detroit would distance to score gap in the second half by a huge, 72 yard run by Reggie Bush and another touchdown later in the game. He ended up with 178 yards on the ground, the most yards since Barry Sanders was in the Lions backfield. Peterson finally broke a big, 53 yard run of his own and ended up with over 100 yards as well, but the Vikings were forced to put the ball in the air more as the game became shorter and saw their chances end in the fourth when rookie corner, Darius Slay, picked a Ponder pass on the sidelines and ending any hopes of a comeback by the Vikings.
CB Chris Greenwood also had a terrific game with having a pair of big returns that gave the Lions a short field to work with and the Lions look better than many expected. The only issue was Stafford let a couple of passes float that the Vikings secondary, who played excellent defense throughout the contest, were able to turn into picks.

A Walk of In Indy
Colts 25 Raiders 24
It seems as though the Pagano factor has carried over into the 2013 season as the Colts win on a third try on a goaline carry from RB Vick Ballard. It was a gutsy call running the ball a third consecutive try as the clock was running out. Coach Pagano said later, "We needed to make a statement, you wont stop us, we will not be stopped." The team clearly has taken the "fighter" mentality from their coach. The Colts were knocked down, time and time again, but got right back up.
Many will come out and say that it’s just the "Raiiiiiidddderrrssss", and the Oakland organization does it again to leave their fans shaking their heads. However, Terrelle Pryor left fans excited. Pryor looked electric during the first half of the game. Pryor threw for two touchdowns for 125 yards. After a Colts first drive that marched down the field ended with a punt with the Colts deciding not to go for a 53 yard field goal. Shortly after, Pryor threw an interception that lead to a Colts field goal. Then Pryor took over the game.
Pryor and McFadden executed the option perfectly in the second quarter taking on two more touchdowns to end the half with a 21-6 lead. The second half Oakland got the ball first and marched down the field, but ended in a McFadden fumble. This gave some momentum and life back to the Colts, but would fail to score. The Raiders next drive changed the course of the game when Pryor was knocked out of the game with a concussion. The whole complexity of the game changed. The Colts held the Raiders to just a field goal in the third quarter. 24-6 was the score at the beginning of the 4th quarter, and immediately the Colts jumped on the board with a touchdown, but failed to convert the 2 point conversion.
The Raiders offense sputtered, and the Colts made them pay marching down the field to score again. 24-19 was the score when the Raiders had the ball with a little over four minutes. After successfully getting a few first downs, the Colts defense stepped up and caused the Raiders offense to have to punt the ball. Colts received the ball with 2:43 seconds when Mr. Luck pump faked the safety and hit R. Wayne down the sideline for a huge game. With time at 45 seconds on the 6 yard line, Vick Ballard rushed for a 3 yard gain up the middle. NO timeouts, the Colts ran a fullback dive that failed to reach the endzone. With 8 seconds left, Ballard was called on and converted the touchdown to cap off the come from behind victory!
QB Terrelle Pryor 11 att 9 completions for 125 yards 2 tds and 1 int with 3 carries for 43 yards
RB D. McFadden 17 carries 83 yards 1 td 1 fumble
QB Andrew Luck 27 att 15 completions for 293 yards 1td 1 int
RB Vick Ballard 14 carries 83 yards 2tds
WR Reggie Wayne 5 rec 112 yards
WR T.Y. Hilton 4 rec 97 yards
Titans 34 Steelers 3The Titans came to play in this one. The O-line dominated the whole game making huge holes for Chris Johnson who made sure to capitilize on each run. Chris averaged a little over 14 yards per carry ending the day with 206 yards on 14 carries and added two touchdowns. Jake Locker wasn't asked to do a lot but when he was called upon he made sure to deliver. He went 3 for 5 for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns. The defense also did it's job holding the Steelers to just 3 points for the game. Veteran Free agent pickup Takeo Spikes showed that he still has some football left in his tank leading the game in tackles with 8 and coming up with an interception. The Titans are 1-0 and host divisional rival Houston Texans next week.
PATS WIN DESPITE 3 TURNOVERS BY BRADY 24-3
Pats came into the game with a gameplan and it was to Run the Ball to open up the Play Action, Pats would start early after stopping the Jets on their first possession they would run the ball 8 times for 56 yards and score on a 2 yard run by RB Blount. Pats defense would continue to stop the Jets and would go up 14-0 after a 35 Yard Td by Rookie WR Aaron Dobson who is looking like Brady's favorite target over the past few games, as he has 6 catches 124 yards and a TD. Early in the 3rd Jets had a scare when Rookie QB Geno Smith went down with a Injury who was Diagnosed with a Concussion and would leave the game. Enter Mark Sanchez and the Jets just didnt have it in them for a comeback and would fall short 24-3.
This was a AP game since me and Chief DC'd in our first game when i was up 48-24 with 2 mins left in the 4th.
nicknick68 you have a summary due.
After a ridiculous offensive battle in New York, the Broncos come out on top vs. the Giants 63-56. Trindon Holliday had 4 kick return touchdowns to contribute to the Broncos victory. The Broncos go to 2-0 on the season and will face the Raiders in Denver next week.
Packers top Skins in OT
In what started out as a defensive battle, turned into a barnburner. Packers led 7-3 at the half. Clay Matthews was knocked out with a torn labrum after recovering a fumble. Vince Young was filling n for the injured Aaron Rodgers and left a lot to be desired. The ground game is what came through in a big way for the Pack.
Packers took a 14-3 lead in the early 3rd qtr. Skins struck right back with a 68 yrd strike to Garcon. With the score 14-9, the Skins decided to go for two early in the 3rd but failed. They went on to take the lead a short time later after a pick by Vince Young. They again decided to go for two, still early in the third. They failed again, and those two mistakes haunted the Skins. Early in the 4th, Morris scored a TD to put the Skins up 22-14.
Packers had a nice drive late in the 4th and scored on a 9 yard Eddy Lacy run. They tied it up on a 2pt pass to Boykin.
Skins had a chance in regulation, but RGIII threw a pick to Tramon Williams to send it to OT. Redskins got the ball first and the Packers defense forced a three and out. Packers had a couple nice plays to get the to their own 46, when they handed off to backup RB DuJuan Harris who cutback to a huge hole up the middle for a 54 yard score for the win.
4 KR touchdowns for the Broncos in one game? What in the hell??
Lions Steal Victory From Cardinals in OT, 34-31
The Lions entered this weeks game starting the season 1-0 and hoping to build off their first week win over the Vikings. The Cardinals had other ideas and gave Detroit all they could handle in this week 2 match-up. The Cardinals had a lot more to play for starting off with a 34-24 loss to the Rams and trying to avoid starting the season 0-2. "Desperation brings out the best in football teams and we saw that today." Lions coach Jim Schwartz said after the game. Schwartz added "I tried to reiterate to the guys at halftime that we are starting a 4 out of 5 game road trip and we needed this as bad as they did."
The first quarter saw a very tight, defensive contest with both teams racking up sacks and trying to gain ground in the contest. The Lions were able to draw first blood on a touchdown pass to Chaz Schilens off a short drive that was started on a Stephen Tulloch pass interception. The Cardinals got their points back on a drive that was capped by a short Mendenhall run. After a quick 3 and out by the Lions, the Cardinals were looking to take a lead into halftime late in the second half when rookie corner Darius Slay picked off a Carson Palmer pass on the Lions own 15 and returned it for 6. The Cardinal quickly responded with another drive that ended with a field goal and the Lions walked into the half with a 14-10 lead.
The Cardinals quickly kept up their momentum from the end of the first half with a touchdown drive off a long pass to Larry Fitzgerald and another Mendenhall goal line touchdown run, 17-14 Cardinals. The Lions at this point looked like their chances were slipping since the offense looked anemic most of the first half, only mustering 7 points to the defenses 7. Detroit finally caught a break when Calvin Johnson broke open a pass reception for 74 yards and a touchdown, his first of the season and the Lions regained the lead. The Cards refused to go away though and to the Lions dismay even after another touchdown reception by Johnson they watched what seemed like a hard fought victory turn into a hard fought loss when after the Cardinals made a inspired defensive stand, they quickly drove the ball down with under 2 minutes left and scored a touchdown with only small change on the clock and forcing the game into overtime.
The Cardinals then caught another break when winning the coin toss and after their hot offense took the field the Lions looked like they were spent. Then Detroit finall caught the big break they were looking for when SS Glover Quin jumped a route and picked off Palmer in Cardinal territory for the third time of the contest. After a short completion and a couple of runs the Lions brought out David Akers on 3rd down and he converted the 49 yard field goal for the victory in OT.
Jim Schawrtz commented after the game "We committed zero turnovers, that's the only reason why we won and the timely defensive plays didn't hurt either."
Jacksonville outlasts the Raiders
The Jaguars traveled to the West Coast to face the Oakland Raiders in their first away game. The Jags were able to hold on at the end to win the game 28-21. Blaine Gabbert had a serviceable game with 8 completions and 204 yards with a TD. The offensive coordinator decided to rely on the face of the franchise this game, MJD. Coach Bradley said during the press conference that the Raiders had great team speed, so getting anything big through the air was not going to work. He said they had to pound the ball to tire the defense out, then sneak some playaction in there to keep them honest. Jones-Drew ended the contest with 86 yards and 3 TDs. The defense was able to make some big plays making things difficult for the Raiders to get their gameplan going. Terrelle Pryor had a rough game against the Jaguars pass defense. He threw 4 picks, two of them to LB Russell Allen. DT Brandon Deaderick was wreaking havoc on the Raiders O line, constantly blowing things up and making it difficult to get anything in the middle of the defense. The team was fortunate to come away with the win. Once again, 4th quarter defense allowed Pryor and company to get back in the game. Luckily, the offense was there to bail them out. The Jags will stay on the West Coast for next weeks game as they visit the Seattle Seahawks.
San Francisco came through big in week 1 with a hard hitting game with the Green Bay Packers. The score doesn't tell how close the game really was as each team was almost identical in stats overall. Colin Kaepernick was throwing some bullets to his guys, and they came up big with some awesome catches, going 8 for 12, with 160 yards and 1 touchdown, which Crabtree got to take in for a long score. Frank Gore wasnt going to be left out as he went over the century mark and ran for 3 touchdowns. Green Bay wouldnt go quietly in the night as Aaron Rodgers went 8/11 but only came up with 69 yards, and a touchdown and pick. The problem came when Rodgers was injured after scrambling and getting hit by Patrick Willis. Vince Young came in for the team and did everything he could, but the 49ers defense smelled blood in the water and kept trying to force them to make bad throws. I do believe everyone on offense for the Pack caught at least one pass as they spread the ball around perfectly.
The 49ers face their division rival, the Seattle Seahawks next week in what should be a good game.
The Cleveland Browns avenged their first week loss against their division rival. With this win the Browns also share the AFC North lead with the Pittsburgh Steelers who are both 1-1 with a 1-0 divisional record. After slogging through a game against the Dolphins in which the Browns could only muster 170 yards of offense, the Browns were able to gain 457 yards against what was thought to be a stout Ravens' defense heading into 2013.
Trent Richardson lead the way with 159 yards rushing and 20 yards receiving, and scoring 2 total touchdowns. Brandon Weeden was also able to complete his other touchdown strike on a pass to WR Josh Gordon for 32 yards. Gordon had a breakout game with 136 receiving yards on 5 receptions. Other standouts on offense included Davone Bess who was able to convert two 3rd downs on his 2 receptions, and backup running backs Andre Ellington, Brian Leonard, and Brandon Jackson who were able to help chew the clock and keep the ball moving on the ground.
On defense the Browns were able to continually harass Joe Flacco, totaling 2 sacks with Paul Kruger forcing a fumble on one of them on the game's opening drive. Rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo recovered the fumble and helped setup the Browns to take a 3-0 lead on the ensuing possession.
