The Jets began their journey towards defending their championship in the first game of the NFL Season. They faced off against the division rival Buffalo Bills. The Bills received the ball first and steadily moved the ball via the run up the field. Ironic that the Jets' strength in run defense became their weakness in the first drive of the season. The Bills put 7 points up early in the 1st quarter; it would be the last time they scored. The Jets responded with a good drive of their own only to fumble the ball in the redzone. The Jets put up 7 in a deep pass to Stephen Hill to Geno Smith. The Bills end up throwing their first intcerption at the end of the half.

The 2nd half begins with a 3 and out for the Jets. They will soon find success in the 3rd quarter off of the legs of Chris Ivory putting up another 7. The Bills are now down 14-7. Trying to claw their way back in the 4th quarter, E.J. Manuel throws 2 pick 6s to put the Jets up 28-7 and put the game out of reach for the Bills.

    Denver 38
    Oakland 31

Denver traveled to Oakland week 1 in an season opening division game against a hated rival. The first part of the game it looked to be all Oakland as they were up 21-10 at the half. After some halftime adjustments and the Broncos started the comeback trail and it began with a Von Miller pick inside the Denver 5 and returned all the way to the Oakland 20 which led to a Denver touchdown. Oakland started to get into a funk and couldn't get much going outside of a field goal to make it 24-17. Denver tied it early in the 4th and the Broncos had all the momentum as on back to back drives for Oakland both drives were killed by multiple holding penalties and the result of both of those Oakland punts were 2 Denver touchdowns to make it 38-24 with just under 3 minutes left. Oakland was not done as Pryor threw up a prayer and it looked as though the Broncos secondary had the pick but Denarius Moore hauled it in for a huge gain and 3 plays later Oakland was in the endzone to make it 38-31 with 2:01 left. Denver faced a 3rd down and 4 and Osweiler saw Hakeem Nicks come free and slung it his way and he caught it and had the first but as soon as he caught it he was leveled and it was ruled a fumble which was recovered by Oakland with tons of time left to tie the game. Unfortunately for Oakland Pryor threw a ball over the middle to high and it sailed right into the waiting arms of Rahim Moore to seal the game for Denver.

    Brock Osweiler 18-26 302 Yards 3 TD 2 INT
    Monte Ball 16 Att 138 Yards/LeGarrette Blount 2 TDs
Demaryius Thomas 8 Rec 144 Yards 2 TDs
Von Miller 7 Tackles 4 Sacks 1 INT

    Terrelle Pryor 17-28 317 Yards 2 TD 2 INT
Darren McFadden 19 Att 80 Yards 2 TDs
Denarius Moore 4 Rec 80 Yards

Steelers Start Season with a W in Luck's House
    33-20

Steelers force more turnovers, and get the win in Indy. Pittsburgh had 3 INTS, 6 sacks and 3 recovered fumbles en route to victory. They had a tough time containing Colts HB Trent Richardson but never gave Colts the lead long enough for them to really be able to feed him like he should be fed. Steelers had over 150 yards on the ground but did throw 3 INTs.

The game was back and forth until later in the 3rd quarter where the Steelers would put it to a two score game, and that's where it remained for the rest of the game. Pitt couldn't get much going in the 1st half kicking FG after FG, their newly acquired kicker was 4/4.

I haven't seen mboda post anything yet, but the Eagles win 34-14 over the Packers at Lambeau Field.

The game was tied 7-7 in the 2nd when Rodgers threw a pass behind Randall Cobb on a drag route. The pass was subsequently intercepted and returned 20 yards for the go-ahead score. Philly would score 34 straight after the Packers scored the first seven of the game. The Packers added a touchdown late to make the score look prettier.

I'll let boda fill in more details and stats. Good game man.

Saints overcome early turnovers to win 31 - 24

The Saints got a taste of life without Drew Brees this week with battle with division opponent Atlanta.
Rookie QB Bronson Blanding would throw two first half interceptions but connecting on a pass to Jimmy Graham for six in the last couple minutes before halftime. The saints running game would put up 230 yds rushing while holding Adrian Peterson to 69 yds on 25 carries. The saints would get a late touchdown run by Mark Ingram, and give the Falcons a final shot a the endzone. Matt Ryan marched the falcons down the field but the drive would end on an interception in the endzone.

    Matt Ryan 25/33 250 yds 2 TD 1 INT

POTG Jimmy Graham 5 rec, 127 yds 1 TD
Graham was Blandings goto in tough situations while Blandings adjusts to the speed of the NFL.

Rams travel to Arizona for a week 1 Division game...

Got off to a rough start with a run for -3 and then a sack and then a completed pass for a first down and a fumble...

Zona would take advantage with a FG...The Rams would rattle off two tds to take a 14-6 lead to the locker room. The second half the tide would swing and the Cards D really started to hit us...We dropped some passes that would have kept drives alive...and threw a really lousy pass that Zona picked for 6 and then the two pointer tied the game.

Rams got the ball back and drove 60 yards or so to kick the game winner as the time expired.

GG Kasper , this division is going to be really rough.

Eagles start their season off right with a nice 34-14 win in Lambeau over the Packers.

The game didn't start out the way the Eagles would have liked. Early in the 1st quarter Nick Foles dropped back and was sacked and fumbled the ball, which was recovered by the Packers inside the Eagles 20. On the next play the Packers would jump out to a 7-0 lead as Aaron Rodgers hit Finley for a 16 yard TD. Philly would come right back on the next drive and tie the game on a 48 yard TD to DeSean Jackson. They would take the lead on the next Packers drive as CB Bradley Fletcher would make the play of the game when he picked off Rodgers over the middle and took it back 30 yards for a TD. That seemed to give the Eagles a ton of momentum and they would extend their lead to 27-7 before backup HB Bryce Brown would put the nail in the coffin in the 4th with an 87 yard TD, making the score 34-7. The Packers would add a late TD to make the final score 34-14.

The key to the game was the Philly defense doing a fantastic job throughout the game keeping Rodgers in check with constant pressure. The Eagles piled up 5 sacks on the day and hit Rodgers countless other times.

CHIEFS win opener with tough road victory over Feisty Fins

Coach Andy Reid after last season's playoff loss that he would his team to have more balance offensively. They started week One with accomplishing their goals. Chiefs ran the ball 32- 213 yards and passed 27-212 yards. The Chiefs took control early with a 14-0 lead but never could put the Dolphins away. Miami was able to capitalize a pick-six and cut the lead to 14-7 in the second quarter. The Chiefs were able to utilize a stiff and stingy defense to maintain the lead. The Fins attempted a late rally deep in the 4th QRT but their efforts came up just short as the Chiefs hung on for the W.

The Chiefs defense gave up 140 total yards to the Fins while forcing 4 turnovers.......

Next up for the Chiefs is division rival Denver in a clash of familiar foes!!!!

    Patriots defeat Cleveland 31-7
The New England Patriots traveled to Cleveland in hopes to start their season off the right way and get new owner and GM Dan Swoboda his first win of the season. On the first drive The Browns would take an early lead as Brandon Weeden would throw a 37 yard touchdown to Josh Gordon to go up 7-0. That would be the only touchdown for the Browns as the Patriots defense played soundly after the first drive and wouldn't allow another scoring drive after that. The Patriots did not score in the first quarter but Tom Brady and the offense would wake up shortly after that, as he conducted a couple nice drives that would end in 2 throwing touchdowns and give the Patriots the lead going into halftime 14-7. The Patriots offense and defense would keep clicking as they put 2 more scores on the board, a Ridley rush and Brady passing touchdown in the 3rd qtr. A 4th qtr 47 yard fg by Gostkowski would make the score 31-7.

Tom Brady was excellent in his first game under the new ownership of Dan Swoboda, as he threw for 211 yards and 3 touchdowns with a 142.8 passer rating. The 14 year vet was careful with the football as he did not throw for any interceptions and only got sacked once, but had a couple mishaps as he had to call couple timeouts and have couple delay penalties as the coordinator was fumbling around the playbook. Coach Bilicheck would apologize in the press conference about the mishaps.

The Patriots will defend their home next Sunday night as they will host the Redskins in week 2. good game Danthraxxx

Texans handle division rival Titans in season opener!

A defensive win for the Texans, led by the charge of JJ Watt & Co. The Texans picked off Jake Locker 4 times which lead to scores for the Texans in each possession. Tipped diving interceptions in a crowd summed up the type of game this ended up being. On the offensive side of the ball Arian Foster chipped away all game long and rookie QB Ronacher added 171 through the air with 1 score and 1 interception.

    Lions hold off Bucs
The game started off rather slow with the teams trading field goals. Detroit would then score the next 14 unanswered before halftime that included a Darius Slay INT-TD and Calvin Johnsons first TD reception of the year. After the half the Lions would receive the ball and drove right down for another score. But Coach Masler did not count the M>Bucs out as they would score 14 unanswered of their own to make this just a 7 point game. With the Lions wearing down, it looked like this game might end up tied but Joique Bell and Reggie Bush lead the drive that ended with Bell scoring the game sealer. The game would officially end after Suh absolutely exploded off the line, causing Martin to fumble and allowing Stafford to kneel the ball.

    Skins - 42
    Giants - 7

Washington embarrassed New York in the season opener. The game was a rout early and DHall capped it with a 88 yard pick 6 in the final seconds of the half to give the Skins a 42-0 lead going into the locker room. The Giants were outmatched on both sides of the ball but did a fine job stopping the run. RG3 responded to the lack of push in the run game with arguably his best game as a pro, posting a 158.3 QB rating and tossing 5 TDs and only had 2 of his passes hit the ground, all in the first half.

Washington coaches decided to get the backups some work in the 2nd half and just tried to run out the clock before someone got hurt. The Giants added a late TD against 3rd stringers but it was too little too late as Eli Manning looked washed up tossing 6 INTs to 6 different defenders and only posting a 48% completion percentage.

    Skins - 25
    Pats - 22

The Skins were coming off an impressive home/season opener against the Giants where the offense could do no wrong. They were hoping to carry their momentum into Week 2 but the Pats had others plans.

Washington's offense kept bogging down near midfield in the first half and an interception late in the half allowed the Pats to add a 4th FG to go up 12-0. Washington's defense was the only thing keeping them alive.

Gronkowski was getting open at will and Washington defenders kept dropping interceptions but holding New England to FGs allowed them to hang around.

Alfred Morris finally came alive on the opening drive of the 2nd half and carried the team downfield for their first TD. New England kept getting repeatedly flagged for offensive holding but Brady kept bailing them out with great throws on 3rd and long. Eric Decker beat his man off the line in single coverage and caught a 21 yard TD pass to make the game 14-13 midway through the 3rd quarter.

The Pats added a FG to take the lead again 15-14. Washington kept fighting but couldn't take back the lead. New England looked like they had put the game away on a rushing TD by Shane Vareen late in the game but two late game stops by Washington's defense allowed enough time for one final drive with the Pats up 22-14.

RG3 led a great drive downfield that almost ended in disaster when WR Kenny Britt dropped a ball at the goal line that almost fell into the defenders hands. Fred Davis made a catch on 3rd down to the 1 yard line with :11 left in the game. Washington used a timeout and decided to pound the rock into the endzone. They figured if they can't get 1 yard on the ground they don't deserve to win the game. FB Darrel Young got the call off LG and the OL did its job countering the blitz and Young crossed the goal line to bring the Skins to within 2 with :10 left in the game.

The coaching staff couldn't decide what to do for the 2PA but settled on a quick pass in hopes that the defense would sell out to stop the run. They did and RG3 arced one up to Kenny Britt who came down with it to tie the game 22-22.

This game had OT written all over it. Butler booted the kickoff out of the back of the endzone and NE had :10 and 1 timeout. They decided to be aggressive and try for the FG. Brady came off of play-action and threw it up to Gronk but the pass was a split second too late as Philip Thomas came over the top and picked the ball off. Thomas went screaming toward the endzone but ended up diving for every inch as NE players closed in on him and the clock was ticking down.

Washington got the ball with :04 and 1 timeout. Not enough time to safely run a play and it would be a 54 yard FG for the accurate but weak legged Kai Forbath. The Skins coaches decided to try the FG anyway and were excited to see the 9 MPH wind was in their favor as Forbath trotted out onto the field. Forbath gave it everything he had and snuck it just over the cross bar and inside the left upright for the improbable game winning FG at the end of regulation.

Washington's coaching staff stole a win with some help from the refs and move to 2-0 on the season.

UniQue2Three GG dude. You totally got robbed.

    Seahawks 34
    Cowboys 31

Seattle, WA -- Seattle came into the year with a defensive unit that can be one of the best in the league, however after the result of the first game of the season you wouldn't know it. The Cowboys gained 544 total yards of offense on the day with 474 of it through the air courtesy of Tony Romo. The only issue? Romo happened to be picked off 4 times on the day, two of which coming from CB Richard Sherman who was going at it all day with Cowboys wide reciever Dez Bryant. Bryant finished the gae with 6 catches for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RB Marshawn Lynch had a huge day going for 167 yards on 20 carries for 3 touchdowns. He also fumbled twice on the day. The Cowboys had the chance to to take the game to overtime late, however Romo ended up costing his team the win when he threw his 4th interception of the day and the Seahawks were able to hold on for the victory.

Bills win ugly game vs Chargers 30-7
In an early season battle of two teams hoping to make the playoffs the Buffalo Bills took care of the ball unlike their counterpart Chargers and managed a 30-7 victory. The chargers problems started on the first play from scrimmage, after their running back lost the ball after getting blown up in the back field and Nigel Bradham returned it 15 yards for a very early 7-0 lead. After forcing a punt the Bills moved the ball efficiently on their next drive before Stevie Johnson reeled in a 12 yard touchdown pass for a 14-0 lead.
The scoring slowed in the second quarter as the only points put on the board were from a Buffalo field goal and the Bills took a 17-0 lead into the locker room and received the ball in the second half.
The Bills game plan to begin the second half was to try and put the game out of reach with the way their defense was playing. Thad Lewis and the running game led a long 7 minute drive that was capped off by an Anquan Boldin TD grab and took a commanding 24-0 lead. The Bills would force turnovers on the next two xhargee possesions and added two more field goals for a 30-0 lead.
The fourth quarter both teams were content with just trying to get out of the game with no injuries as the Chargers found the end zone late in the 4th to bring it to the 30-7 final. Neither offense broke 200 yards and the difference in the game was Buffalos plus 5 turnover differential. The staff liked what they seen out of Thad Lewis and said he did enough to be named the week 3 starter against Matrix Monkey and tge Washington Redskins.

GG sawemoff was really unfortunate the game barrel rolled you the way it did, the fumbles were crazy and then topped off with penalties I know it had to be extremely frustrating. Look forward to playing you again and hopefully the game lets us play on an even playing field. Good luck the rest of the year man.

Always a close matchup whenever sawemoff and I hit the sticks. The biggest difference here was the 4:1 turnover ratio in favor of the Vikings. That said, it was a close game throughout and the Vikings never really breathed easy. A holding penalty on 3rd and 2 with barely a minute left put the Vikings in an interesting situation: take the penalty for 4th and short or 3rd and 12. Opting for the longer conversion, the Vikings were rewarded with two batted passes to seal the game.

The Vikings rookies played well with Graham Steven-Baker leading the charge. Baker was 15/25 for 215 with a score and only one INT. Baker also added 52 yards on the ground off just four carries. Ohio State running back Bryant Mason showed he can be a workhorse for the Vikings from the get-go with 20 carries for 76 yards and a TD. Arik King had some growing pains as he seemed to struggle in one-on-one blocking assignments. Rookie ILB Marcos Alvarez had 2 tackles in his debut.
