Floodgates open and New Orleans drowns in Lambeau GB 37 NO 3 Green Bay showed that they are planning to continue right where they left off last season, when they won their last 6 before just falling short of a playoff berth (because mboda choked). The Packers bring back mostly the same lineup that barely beat New Orleans last year, but this year's team has a new attitude and a couple new weapons on the offense. One of those weapons is 2nd round pick Jamius Grimble, who scored his first career touchdown in his first NFL game. His score started the onslaught at 13-0. Just 3 plays later, Ryan Mallett would be stripped and Clay Matthews would get in on the action. The Scoop and score gave the Packers a 20-0 lead going into half. The second half was simply more of the same. The Packers ground-game was struggling, but Aaron Rodgers picked up any slack by shredding the Saints secondary. Rodgers finished the game 11-13 with 2 TDs, and would not play in the fourth quarter after his TD pass to Randall Cobb put Green Bay up 30-0. Next up for Green Bay, the defending Super Bowl champion Houston Texans. This is the ultimate measuring stick game for Green Bay, as the world will find out if they can make a run to the playoffs.
Bills handle Colts 43-7 Buffalo the last two seasons has been a team with a dominant defense and inconsistent offense. Today they showed how games can turn out when both show up. Lamanski Giasante, in his first career start, threw for 304 yards and 3 TD (no picks!) and the Bills defense, who played without pro bowler Mario Williams due to trade speculation, dominated picking Andrew Luck off 4 times. Wesley Woodyard and Brandon Smith ( thank god he didnt get shipped to Baron and the Vikings) had two picks a piece as Andrew Luck could never settle in. CJ Spiller added 112 yards on the ground as the Bills offense was effecient all game. Colby Fleener was a bright spot for the Colts contributing for over half their offensive yards with 86 yards receiving on 5 catches and a touchdown. Marquise Goodwin, who has been speculation to trade rumors sincs new ownership took over, had a breakout game with 113 yards receiving. The player of the game was no doubt Giansante who continually completed passes into tight coverage. Gg BrewBomber best of luck the rest of the year.
Pittsburgh Steels One in Baltimore 17-6 -Baltimore, M.D. The Steelers go into Baltimore with a new mentality this season, run the football, and that's exactly what they did. Although they had 4 of their own, the Steelers forced 5 turnovers en route to a 17-6 victory. The Ravens had their chances. It was a rainy afternoon and seemed to cause one more turnover for Baltimore that could have changed the game. Baltimore was pressing in the 2nd Q in the redzone when a pass was caught on about the 6 yd line just to be fumbled and recovered by Pittsburgh right before halftime. The Steelers then came out and Big Ben hit a 46 yard pass to Antonio Brown for the first TD of the game. This was fortunate for the Steelers because the Ravens were in position to intercept pass but turned the wrong way. At 17-6 and with the Ravens pressing late in the 4th, they have another redzone turnover when OLB Lamarr Woodley intercepts Flacco, and that was pretty much all she wrote. Great game NeuroticTruth , I know you will be looking forward to revenge in a few weeks. Player of the game: OLB Lamarr Woodley 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT
Lions top Rams in turnover filled game Detroit - 17 St. Louis - 14 Neither team had very much success holding onto the ball today. Stafford started the day throwing a pick but it wasn't long before Hill threw one of his own. There were a total of 7 INT's thrown and two fumble lost. Stafford lost the INT battle with 4 vs Hills' 3 but the Lions overall won the turnover battle thanks to Nick Fairley forcing two fumbles and Suh recovering them both, returning one 47 yards for a score that would tie the game at 14 a piece. In the final few minutes neither team was moving the ball well, Stafford and Hill would both throw another pick. The Rams ended up with the ball with 30 seconds to go but that's when Fairley forced his second fumble and the Lions were able to kick a game winning FG. On the offensive side, Calvin Johnson had a nice day with 95 yards and a score while the Rams' Jared Cook caught 8 passes for 109 yards. GG BRUCE80, tough luck on the fumbles. Good luck in that tough NFC West.
The Eagles go on the road and get a big week 1 victory in Seattle. The game started out with a quick 3 and out by Seattle. Once the Eagles got the ball they marched down the field with LeSean McCoy breaking off a couple of big runs but the drive stalled inside the 10 and the Eagles had to settle for a short FG. The Seahawks would answer right back with a drive of their own ending in a short TD throw from Wilson to Zach Miller. Seattle would add to their lead late in the 2nd quarter when Marshawn Lynch busted off a 25 yard TD run off of a read option extending the Seahawks lead to 14-3. The Eagles would then put together a much needed drive right before the end of the half ending in a 25 yard TD catch by DeSean Jackson on a crossing route cutting which cut Seattle's lead to 4. With just under a minute left in the half, Seattle got themselves in a position to get some points on the board but ran out of time just as they got into scoring position. Philly started the 2nd half with a nice drive, getting into scoring position but would miss a 48 yard FG attempt. On Seattle's first play after the missed FG, Robert Turbin would rip off a 63 yard TD run on a read option making the score 21-10. The Eagles needed some points to get back in this game and that is what they did as they marched down the field and McCoy punched in a 5 yard TD but the Eagles would fail to convert the 2pt conversion and found themselves down 21-16. Seattle would start their drive at the start of the 4th quarter but Philly came up with a big 3rd down stop and forced a punt. The Eagles put together a great drive with a couple of huge 3rd down conversions and Jeremy Maclin capped off the drive with a 21 yard TD across the middle. The Eagles would get the 2 point conversion this time and now found themselves up 24-21 with just under 6 minutes left. Seattle would march their way down the field and into the redzone with under 2 minutes left. On 2nd and goal, former Seahawk Brandon Browner had a chance to end the game but dropped the easiest pick of his career. On 3rd down Russell Wilson threw another bad one, this time into double coverage but Brandon Boykin let it go right through his hands. Seattle would tie the game on a short FG. With just under a minute left and with 1 timeout left, Philly had time to get into FG range. On the first play of the drive Foles underthrew Danny Amendola on a corner route and it was intercepted and returned for a back breaking touchdown, but it was called back because of a late hit on Foles. After the penalty the Eagles were unable to get into FG range and had to punt with very little time remaining. Seattle would kneel it and these teams would head into overtime. In overtime, The Eagles would win the coin toss and choose to receive. After a couple first downs their drive stalled and the Eagles would have to punt. Seattle would quickly go 3 and out with a couple of drops on 2nd and 3rd down. Once Philly got the ball back they would put together big drive, gashing the Seahawks with a couple of long runs by McCoy and Bryce Brown. The Eagles would grind their way inside the redzone before setting up Shaun Shuisham with a 32 yard game winning FG which he would hit and end the game. Bills defeat Dolphins 27-20 Buffalo came into the game knowing the Dolphins always play them tough and take them down to the wire, what they got was almost shocking. Miami at one point led 17-0 late in the 2nd quarter, before Giansante finally got in a rhythym to cut the lead to 17-7 right before half. Getting the ball back after halftime. Giansante gave the Bills momentum with a huge drive cutting the lead to 17-14. After forcing a 3 and out the Dolphins were able to get a stop, and drive deep into Buffalo territory. They seemed to be taking the game in hand until Tannehill just missed his wr on a pass that looked to be incomplete but out of nowhere, Duke Williams hit the dirt making one of the finest diving catches I have ever seen to pick the ball off. Buffalo had finally found rhythm and marched down to take the lead just into the 4th. The Bills defense continually shut Tannehill down after a strong opening half, and the offense added 13 in the final quarter. Miami put together a great drive ending in a FG but Rielly Cooper recovered the onside kick to seal the game. GG Cgreen214 , always a great one when we play I enjoy our matchups. Titans Frustrate Tannehill Dolphins started out with possession and put an extremely impressive drive together, Tannehill started 5 of 5 through the air and RB Daniel Thomas was getting 4-5 yards a carry. Sadly for Miami, they couldn't quite steal the early momentum on the road and ended up kicking a field goal in the redzone. For Tennessee, it was a new era with QB Landry Jones. Jones started out shaky but settled in with the mix of RB's Louis Kendrick, Delone Carter & Fozzy Whittaker looked to be for points of their own until TE Delanie Walker fumbled inside the Miami 5. Tennessee D held but on the next possession RB Louis Kendrick busted off a pretty impressive run but fumbled at the end which killed another Titan drive. After Tennessee's defense woke up and started to create stops, the offense found out how to hold on to the football. Tennessee got it's first points when Landry Jones found Justin Hunter for the first touchdown toss of the season & a few minutes later Jones tossed another touchdown to Kendall Wright in the back of the endzone to lead 14-3. Just before half Kendall Wright was inches from getting a 2nd foot down for Tennessee to lead 21-3 at half but he didn't get the foot down and Tennessee kicked through a field goal to lead 17-3 at the break. In the 2nd half, Tennessee looked to expand on the lead but couldn't do so on offense. Miami's 2nd half adjustments were successful as they shut down the Titans for most of the 3rd & 4th quarter. The only problem, Tannehill wasn't helping. Titan CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson picked off a short lob from Tannehill and took it to the house to lead 24-3. Miami got some momentum swinging their way at the start of the 4th quarter, they converted a 4th down and kept the ball moving and RB Lamar Miller absolutely trucked through CB Alterraun Verner at the goal line to trim the Titan lead 24-10. The next Titan possession, Landry Jones attempted a throw away but fumbled at his own 20 and Miami pounced on it with great field position. RB Daniel Thomas blasted in a couple plays later and we had a ball game on our hands. Tennessee took over with about 6 minutes left in the 4th and attempted to milk some clock with the ground game and keep the chains moving. Kendall Wright hauled in a huge 3rd down conversion even with defenders on his back. RB Louis Kendrick busted off some big runs and Tennessee booted a field goal with just a little under 2:00 remaining. Miami was out of timeouts but the first play from scrimmage, CB Jason McCourty snagged his 2nd interception of the game to seal the deal. Titans QB Landry Jones: 15/23, 216 Yards, 2 TD, INT RB Louis Kendrick: 17 Att, 103 Yards WR Kendall Wright: 5 Rec, 79 Yards, TD CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson: 2 Tackles, INT, TD Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill: 16/27, 149 Yards, 2 INT RB Daniel Thomas: 14 Att, 59 Yards, TD WR Rodney Mark (this rookie is going to be a BEAST): 6 Rec, 82 Yards LB Lamarr Houston: 7 Tackles, INT good game Cgreen214
Vikings Open 2015 With W Balanced attack and run D dominate With Nigel Bradham and JPP both having a sack, the Vikings defense allowed only 6 points until late in the 4th quarter. More than enough for the healthy Vikings offense to roll to an early lead. Graham Steven-Baker was rusty in his first appearance back after a torn shoulder labrum at the end of last season with 2 INTs. But he also tossed 2 touchdowns and 195 yards off 16/19 passing. TEXANS WIN AFC CHAMPIONSHIP REMATCH In a highly anticipated rematch of last years AFC Championship game the Pats flew in to Houston to play the Texans minus HoF QB Tom Brady; the two teams didn't miss a beat trading scores early in the game. The game remained close and back and forth all the way through to the late 3rd QTR when new QB Terrelle Pryor broke off a long run up the left sideline but was hit and fumbled the ball. This play lead to the unraveling of the young QB as he followed up this fumble with a interception in the ensuing Patriots possession. These plays lead to Texans scores which ultimately put the game out of reach for the new Patriots squad. Looks as though we have a new rivalry between two powerhouse AFC teams look for many more impact games between the two! Player of the Game : Jake Locker Passing : J. Locker 19/24 - 254 3 TDs T. Vikings steamroll Lions Min D averaging 8 ppg allowed The Lions went through all three QBs on their roster but the Vikings were in the backfield all game long. JPP had 1 sack, Nigel Bradham had two sacks and Shariff Floyd, surprisingly, added two of his own. Meanwhile the Vikings offense kept up its balanced attack, exploding out to an early 21-0 lead. Bryant Mason and Toby Gerhart switched roles with Mason scoring two short touchdowns. Gerhart, meanwhile, had the longest run of the day: a winding 80-yard TD in the second half after the Lions lone score of the game. GG Masler I'll see you in whatever week.
Titans Spear Bears Tennessee hosted the Bears in this week 2 early season match up. The Bears opened the game with the ball and moved down the field rather easily but a similar result in Tennessee's match up vs the Dolphins, the Titan D only gave up an early field goal. The Titans first possession on offense was ugly but efficient. It was basically check down university but they were able to knot the game at 3. While the crowd began to fall asleep, the Titans offense got a little spark from RB Louis Kendrick and WR Kendall Wright. The tandem kept the chains moving and capped off the drive with a Kendall Wright end-a-round rushing touchdown to lead 10-3. Chicago came out the following possession with what looked like a promising drive until QB Gary Quaglieri met MLB Oristies Fuqua who forced a fumble on the sack. Tennessee scored on the drive with a RB Louis Kendrick 47 yard run up the gut to lead 17-3. In the 2nd half, Tennessee's offense might have been lucky to get a first down. The Bears defense stepped their game up and kept them in the ball game. The offense however kept stepping on their toes with drops & fumbles and bad blocking. However, at the start of the 4th quarter, a converted 4th down sparked the Bears squad. Quaglieri moved the offense down the field for a field goal to trail 17-6, then forced a quick 3 and out from Tennessee. Quaglieri led the parade down the field once again and tossed a 4th & goal touchdown to ex-Titan WR Kenny Britt to trim the lead to 17-14 after the 2 point conversion was easily successful. Tennessee put a drive together and got the first down for what looked like the dagger but a RB Louis Kendrick injury timeout was going to give Chicago one more shot. The shot was terrible though with the Bears OL not blocking Kamerion Wimbley gave Gary Quaglieri no chance and Tennessee holds on 20-17. Titans QB Landry Jones: 11/16, 127 Yards RB Louis Kendrick: 14 Att, 99 Yards, TD WR Kendall Wright: 5 Rec, 55 Yards MLB Oristes Fuqua: 11 Tackles, 2 Sacks, 2 Forced Fumbles Bears QB Gary Quaglieri: 22/43, 229 Yards, TD, INT RB Javares Trodder: 10 Att, 62 Yards WR Deric Thompson: 5 Rec, 81 Yards OLB Chad Greenway: 6 Tackles, 2 Sacks gg Roggie
Chargers Take Down CPU Chiefs 14 - 6 The Chiefs were running the ball down my throat for most of the half and then started throwing and throwing often. Texans take down the Pack The Texans travel to Green Bay to take on Aa-ron Rodgers & Co. and win the key possession game to ultimately win the ball game. The defenses both came to play in this game, which isn't a clear indication from the scores but those were mainly off short fields and big plays. Arian Foster started off the big play run while ripping off two long runs of over 70 yards a piece. Not to be out done Randall Cobb returned fire with a short screen in which he took to the house. A fumble by A. Foster and a interception by Locker deep in Texan territory made the game interesting late. But the Texans' D stayed stout only allowing a FG through these exchanges. The Texans D played very well keeping steady pressure on Rodgers and slowing the Pack down on 3rd down conversions. The offense capitalized when called upon these were the key traits in the game leading to the Texans victory. Great game with Cheez and his Pack squad, look forward to next time. Patriots dominate Jaguars 34-7 The Patriots host the Jacksonville Jagaurs in this week 2 match up. New England suffered a tough week 1 loss to the Houston Texans 27-38 and felt that they had to get back on a track with a win. Patriots won the toss and elected to kick, B.J. Daniels got the nod in week 2 after Manny Lara played horrible as he was 7/15 for 82 yards and threw 3 ints. The Jaguars offense started the game with a punt on their first drive. On New Englands first drive, it took 4 plays for the Patriots to put points on the board as Terrelle Pryor hit Ladaruis Green on corner post play for 29 yards. Jacksonville's next looked like they weren't gonna go down without a fight as B.J. Daniels hit Cecil Shorts III for a slant route that he took for 69 yards but was tackled from behind by Kyle Arrington. New England's goal line defense got tough as they stuffed the Jaguars on 3 straight plays as they tried to pound it in, so on 4th and goal Jaguars decided to go for it and it paid off as they scored on a 1 yard toss to Maurice Jones-Drew. New England got the ball back and yet again it only took 4 plays for Pryor's offense to score as Gronkowski took a simple out route to the house for 64 yards with just over 2 mins left in the 1st qtr. Jaguars were down 14-7 as the 1st ended and that's when the Patriots defense would take control, and forced the Jaguars to punt. New England got the ball back inside their 10 and yet again another quick score would happen as they scored on 2 plays as Shane Vereen would take a slip screen all the way to paydirt for 89 yards as the Patriots noticed Jacksonville started to blitz more frequently. Now down 21-7 Jacksonville got the ball back and had to get a drive going in order to stay in the game, that didn't happen as Daniels threw a pick to Tommy Zbikowski that was intended for Justin Blackmon on a curl route. New England's next drive was a nice 8 play drive that was ended with a 4 yard scamper by Terrelle Pryor as he couldn't find anyone open making it 28-7 with 6 mins left in the 1st half. Jacksonville continued to struggle on offense and had to punt again. New England screwed up and had to take a timeout as the play clock ticked down which would that would hurt the Patriots as stupid play calling and a sack ended the half as the Patriots were in FG position but couldn't stop the clock. The 2nd half was a boring half as it was mainly clock running and 2 fgs and 4 punts and one 4th down turnover. New Englands wins 34-7 and Terrelle Pryor was POTG as he threw for 348 and 3 touchdown and ran in 1 touchdown on the ground. New England needed this game to get their offense rolling and back on track after their loss to the hated Houston Texans. New England will host the Cleveland Browns next week. GG jay2149
The New York returned home this week and hosted the Baltimore Ravens. The Giants came into the game 2-0 on the season after back to back 2-14 seasons. The opening drive was an eleven play mixture of runs by Frank Gore and David Wilson with passes by Ryan Mallett. Although the drive stalled inside the red zone, the Giants took the lead with a 25 yard Steve Hauschka field goal. A couple strong runs from Ravens HB Chris Johnson had NY slightly on its heels but CB Prince Amukamara quickly got his team the ball back with an interception to set up his team on the Baltimore 35 yard line. A Gore run set up a 25 yard pass from Mallett to Zach Sudfield for the 10 - 0 lead. Baltimore got three points back with a 44 yard T. McKeever kick. With a little under four minutes left in the second half, Joe Flacco dropped back but was flushed from the pocket by the strong New York pass rush. Number one overall pick Shana Ratliff tracked Flacco down and stripped him of the ball. The ball was scooped up by Mario Williams, who had three fumble recoveries on the day. another Hauschka FG gave NY a 13 - 3 lead. Flacco's next drop back resulted in the same result of a fumble as Cullen Jenkins hit the quarterback to have Mario scoop and score from the seven yard line. As the first half ended, New York led 20 - 6. Second half was not better to the Ravens, as Bradley Fletcher intercepted Flacco. The Giants did not put any more point on the board and were forced to punt. A quick screen pass for 45 yards from Flacco to Johnson set up Baltimore on the Giant 35 yard line. But another impact rookie, Darrion Powers, had other plans as he me Ray Rice in the hole and lowered the boom, spilling the ball out on the turf. To the surprise of few Mario was there once again to pick up the rick off the turf and this time sprint 74 yards for his second score of the game. The rest was just running out the clock as the teams added FGs apiece for the final score of 30 - 9. Player of the Game MARIO WILLAMS 3 FUMBLES RECOVERED & 2 TDS
Arizona's Defense Holds On After two straight sim losses the Cardinals needed a win and got one in a very big way. This was a revenge game for QB Thad Lewis as he served time with the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo's organization stated he wanted too much money and decided to let him walk but Lewis says other wise. Lewis wanted to continue his career at Ralph Warren Stadium but was never offered even a contract. From beginning to end this game was exciting and especially on the last two drives of the game. 1st Quarter: The only drive that was successful for either team was Buffalo's first one. A methodical, slow paced drive turned only into three points when the Cards defense stuffed them on 3rd and 5. It was an easy 23 yd FG for Hopkins to push through. 2nd Quarter: This quarter was definitely a defensive struggle until the last couple of minutes before halftime. Arizona was able to make stops and pound the ball enough to setup K Stephen Gostkowski for one mid and long range field goal. Up by three with time remaining Arizona's defense gave their offense an opportunity to score before half. Well the offense decided to do things their way and wound up throwing a pick six, and then turned around and fumbled setting up a Giansante-Johnson connection in the endzone. Halftime Score: Buffalo 17 Arizona 6. Buffalo receives ball 3rd Quarter: Buffalo was held to zero points as the defense was giving but was not going to break. Forcing punt after punt the offense for Arizona managed to get them back into the game. The first TD of the game for Thad came on 3rd Down. With Olsen leaving with a broken collarbone, Housler stepped up into the starting roll and caught a 4 yard pass to get them withing striking distance. Again the Bill's offense was bottled up and the Arizona's offense got into Gostkowski's range for a 50 yd FG. 4th Quarter: Exciting and thrilling are words that can be used for the finale of this game. Before ending the 3rd Quarter Arizona was able to force another three and out. On their own 20 a HB Screen play was called. Expecting a heavy blitz Buffalo's defense stayed at home but RB Andre Ellington made one guy missed and it was off to the races. A combination of poor tackling and great down field blocking helped Arizona take their first lead of the game. Buffalo, on the very next drive, drove down and chewed clock. The defense started to give way and the Bills took advantage of it. A huge stop came on 2nd and Goal but on 3rd down the defense gave up a huge TD. Giansante waited patiently in the pocket and waited for the quick Robert Woods to get open for the TD. With about three minutes left Thad Lewis needed to step up and win the game. He did but with a lot of help. On a 3rd Down Thad sent Floyd into motion and hit for the 1st Down. Floyd sat down in the zone Thad made a perfect throw for no one else to get it but him. Once the ball was in Floyd's hands he took off and made it to the 50 yard line. After that the ball stayed on the ground. On a similar play, sending Floyd in motion, Arizona ran a counter with Ellington and the blocking was perfect. He found a lot of space and got the team into FG range. A couple of runs later and Gostkowski hit the game winning FG. Great game publik drunk!
