Ohio suffered disappointment in a big game at Penn State. The Nittany Lions were playing their first game after the NCAA sanctions and the Bobcats were hoping to take advantage of that. Ohio led 14-0 at the half, but ended up losing 21-14 as Penn State controlled the 2nd Half.
Another near upset took place in Austin, TX as the Buffalo Bulls led the Longhorns 10-6 at the half. A determined Texas squad came out and dominated the 2nd half though as the Bulls would fall.

Ohio RB Ryan Boykin continues to lead in rushing yards. Oddly enough, he has only 1 TD despite having 99 carries while having the most yards.

Buffalo MLB Lee Skinner holds onto the lead in the MAC for tackles. However, UMass' FS Ed Saint Vil has risen up and tied Skinner.
We got a W!
Coach's Review - Weeks 1 thru 6 Six weeks into the season we are sitting at 3-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. It has been a very up and down season as we have played extremely well and made a couple correctable mistakes to cost us in the losses to and but we have also looked to just right awful in the loss to . We have several game coming up that we think we have a opportunity to win if we cut down on the mistakes and do a better job of protecting the football. QB Keith Spencer has done a good job of picking up the new system and has lead the team with his 64.1% completion percentage but still need to do a better job with the turnovers as he has thrown 10 INTs compared to only 8 TDs. Soph HB Trayion Durham has done an excellent job of providing us with a rushing threat as he has rushed for 457 yards on 71 carries while scoring 5 TDs. Receiving wise we have done a good job of spreading the ball around as the top 5 receivers have 35, 28, 25, 18 and 16 catches respectfully. On the defensive side we started strong and was leading the country in points allowed but the past couple of weeks we slipped back a little before holding to only 7 points last week. MLB Luke Batton is leading the team in tackles with 25 tackles, 7 of which were for a loss. DT Roosevelt Nix is staring to come into his own as he recorded 4 sacks last week to give him 5 on the year. The one area we appear to be lacking is the secondary as we have only 4 Int's on the year. With the games we have remaining it will be imperative that defense returns to its early season stinginess and give our offense an opportunity to put pressure on the opponent to keep up with our Raid attack. Realistically based on the game we have left we feel that we can end the season with a winning record and hopefully an outside shot at a bowl game.
Week 6 Recap
Central Michigan pulled off a big upset as they defeated previously undefeated Toledo 35-33 in Toledo. This allows Buffalo to move up into the top spot of the MAC West.
The only other undefeated MAC school also lost this week as Ball State continued their turnaround by beating Northern Illinois 34-28. However, they were up 34-7 entering the 4th quarter.
UMass picks up their 1st win of the season in a 21-17 upset over Western Michigan.
Kent State's Spencer Keith extended his passing yards lead in the MAC. He now leads by 319 yards. If he could stop turning it over though, then Kent State could be a real force in the 2nd half of the season.
Ohio RB Ryan Boykin also extends his lead this week in the loss to Buffalo. The highlight for him though had to be getting his 2nd rushing TD of the season.
And once again, Buffalo WR Alex Neutz extends his lead as the top MAC WR. He now leads by 70 yards.
Buffalo MLB Lee Skinner and UMass' FS Ed Saint Vil keep pace as they are still tied as the top MAC tacklers.
Week 7 Recap
Kent State picks up a big win at Cincinnati this week. As huge underdogs, they scored 35 2nd half points to pull ahead and win.
Buffalo continues to play well and is now the only team remaining undefeated in MAC play.
The top of the East division struggled this week as the top 3 teams all lost this week.
Kent State's QB Spencer Keith pulls way ahead this week. He now leads the MAC by 613 passing yards.
Ohio RB Ryan Boykin has cemented his place at the top. He leads by 199 rushing yards.

Week 8 Recap
The top 3 MAC teams all had byes this week.
Central Michigan narrowly beat Ball State 36-33 to remain West Division contenders.
Toledo loses again. This is their 3rd straight loss after starting 5-0. Next week they travel to Buffalo in a game that they must win to realistically stay alive.
Kent State's QB Spencer Keith has been on a roll lately. Of course he still leads in the passing yards but his TD to INT ratio has improved dramatically.
Ohio RB Ryan Boykin still leads by 105 yards after the bye week.
Kent State WR Tyshon Goode must've had a huge week as he passed Alex Neutz(who was on a bye) and now leads by 58 yards.
Kent State MLB Luke Batton makes a huge jump this week to become the MAC leader in tackles.
Bowling Green DE Zach Colvin and Western Michigan DE Paul Hazel lead the MAC with 6.5 sacks.
Ohio FS Gerald Moore leads the MAC with 5 INTs.
Week 9 Recap
Toledo comes from down 20-0 to beat the MAC Buffalo Bulls 38-28.
Northern Illinois and Miami(Oh) continue to play good football as they look to be the cream of the crop.
The bye week was no problem for Kent State's QB Spencer Keith as he still leads the MAC in passing yards by a large margin.
Ohio RB Ryan Boykin was back at it and is nearing in on 1000 yards for the season. It's still concerning though that he has just 2 TDs.
Reversing their roles from last week, Buffalo Alex Neutz passed Kent State's WR Tyshon Goode for the MAC's most receiving yards while Goode was in a bye week.
UMass MLB Perry McIntyre makes a big leap to the top of the MAC for leader in tackles.
Bowling Green DT Chris Jones now leads with 7.5 sacks.
Ohio FS Gerald Moore still leads the MAC with 5 INTs.
Week 10 Recap
Buffalo destroys Miami(OH) 45-14 and knock the Redhawks out of the top spot in the East Division.
On the flip side, Ohio beats up on Eastern Michigan 20-10 to leave the West Division tied between Buffalo and Central Michigan.
Western Michigan continues to struggle after their hot start to the year.
Akron just misses out on their first win of the season. They led Kent State 24-20 with just 3 minutes left in the game.
With just 3 games remaining, Kent State's QB Spencer Keith has pretty much locked up the MAC passing crown unless he gets injured.
Same for Ohio RB Ryan Boykin. He broke 1000 yards for the season and leads by more than 200 yards over 2nd place.
Buffalo Alex Neutz extended his lead as he hit 1000 receiving yards on the year exactly. However, he also got knocked out for likely the rest of the year so he'll just have to hope that his 197 yard lead can hold on for 3 games.
Akron MLB Justin March takes the lead in the MAC for leader in tackles.
Bowling Green DT Chris Jones continues to lead with 7.5 sacks.
Ohio FS Gerald Moore is passed by his teammate, CB Travis Carrie, who now has 6 INTs.
Week 11 Recap
Central Michigan solidifies their spot at the top as they knock Eastern Michigan out of contention this week with a 31-17 win.
Buffalo maintains their position at the top as well with a dominating shutout of Western Michigan.
NIU had a bye but Ohio and Miami both win to keep it a 3-way tie at the top of the East.
Toledo blows out Ball State to keep their hopes alive. They should just need CMU and Buffalo to lose once to force a 3 way tie.
Akron comes so close to the 1st win yet again. They lose in the 3rd overtime as they were unable to get the 2 point conversion.
With an 800 yard lead, it's all but official that Kent State's QB Spencer Keith is the top MAC passer in 2012.
Ohio RB Ryan Boykin continues to lead but the gap has narrowed to around 120 yards. More impressively though, Boykin has not fumbled this year despite all the carries and yards.
Buffalo Alex Neutz holds onto the lead even though he is injured. However, it looks like Kent State WR Tyshon Goode will end up passing Neutz.
Akron MLB Justin March continues to lead the MAC in tackles with 49.
Week 12 Recap
Buffalo narrowly beats UMass 28-21 to take control of the MAC West along with Central Michigan losing. Toledo and Central Michigan are still alive though if Buffalo can't defeat Bowling Green this week.
Toledo defeats East leading Northern Illinois this week. This puts Miami(OH) and Ohio up into the top spot as they both win comfortably.
Week 13 is the final week for all MAC schools. Most notably, Ohio travels to Kent State in a must win game for the Bobcats as Miami has a much easier game in Ball State.
There's no coming back from this lead now, Kent State's QB Spencer Keith is the top MAC passer in 2012.
Same goes for Ohio RB Ryan Boykin. He is the only RB to break 1000 yards and he's over 200 yards past it.
Kent State WR Tyshon Goode passed Buffalo WR Ales Neutz this week and will likely hold on to be the top WR.
Akron MLB Justin March and UMass MLB Perry McIntyre are tied as the top tacklers entering the final week.
