Played two games and am even more excited for the final release! I played one game against my son and one against the CPU, I was the Niners in both, and played on All-Pro in both. Impressions: -I really like how the game feels and the Infinity engine is quite impressive. -I have seen players on both sides of the ball get tripped up on a player lying on the ground, seemed very natural and realistic, and if you try to run up a blockers back, you will get tripped up. -I returned a punt for a TD in each game with Ginn (I don't think I got one in all of Madden 12). They both seemed like legit plays, as they were well blocked and Ginn can absolutely fly! -There were multiple turnovers on both sides of the ball (fumbles and INTs) in both the games I played. Patrick Willis had 4 picks in 2 games, but none were of the "LB with super jump" variety, they were just from good coverage/bad throws. -Eli Manning likes the sideline pass (when playing the CPU). -Victor Cruz was eating up press coverage (and he did his salsa TD dance, not sure if that was in last year). -Anytime I was a defender with direct sight of the ball and timed the catch right, i got the user pick (4x in 2 games). Not sure what to make of it, just something I noticed, I never came up empty if I had the position and timing. -I was able to get a consistent pass rush, as were my opponents in both games. -The CPU challenged a key 3rd down catch on the sideline. I thought it was pretty cool, because the announcers started talking about it and they showed Coughlin throwing the red flag before it popped up on the screen that there was a challenge. Just a minor change in the presentation, but I really liked how they did it. Overall I really liked what I saw and didn't see anything that I considered bad or glitchy. Now I can't wait to get the demo on the PS3! (I like the controller better, it's a preference )
Since when? I didn't do much offseason reading on the game this year. I took some time away. Maybe I missed it?
So far I love Madden 13! It gave me a challenge against the computer. It's not an easy game to play. It'll take some getting used to. To me it's a brand new game. Sure there are a few things here and there but it can be improved. And I think they took a big step this year from Madden 12. The things I loved about the demo were: The blocking- Man it's hell of a lot better than 12.. You didn't see any players running free often without the offensive lineman blocking them. Since we didn't have replay I couldn't tell, but from what I've seen every blocker at least attempts to block the defender which is awesome. The WR/DB interaction- I think this makes a huge difference in the game. You'll see them do things you wouldn't think Madden would approve upon. Of course you can thank the infinity engine for mostly everything that happens. But I've seen diving swats/catchs, players fighting to go up for the ball, AND the both WR/DB locate the ball and turn their heads before they make a play on it! I was so happy with this part of the game you don't even know. The passing was so smooth and it was challenging which is fantastic. The directional passing will make a difference in this game. I love the new special teams plays and improved blocking when you return the ball. In past maddens, your gunner would just go right through your blockers... But in 13 I've noticed that it's harder to get down the field on special teams. The commentary was the best so far. There was no real problems with it except a few repeated things but none the less very well spoken. The infinity engine made the game for me. It just changes the game. Makes it more realistic. In madden 12 you see players going through eachother not even putting a scratch on them or tackling them. This time around I see players having trouble getting up the field in space unless no one is around them. Players stumbling over there own guys. Creating piles. Everything is just a lot cleaner imo. I'm not a great reviewer but we have ourselves one of the best looking Maddens in while.
What do you guys think of the demo.. I played Seahawks(me) vs Redskins.. Liked: -Dline seemed to be able to get to the QB. -presentation was really nice with the pregame and replays. -looks like the instant replay rules made it into the game as they challenged a fumble my player made without me having to throw the flag. -the game plays alot better than last year and ncaa in my opinion. Disliked: sometimes the players look like rag dolls with the RTP. i barely touched RG3 on one sack and it looked like he ran into a land mine. 3-4 still seemed to not play as it should. 4-3 de look to be more effective pass rushers than 3-4 OLB.
Physics engine just feels clunky to me. Getting stuck behind my OL, seeing very odd tackles and player movements. And maybe it's just me, but I can't get ANY pressure with a four man rush, even while using the Giants NASCAR package. I realize it's the first year of the infinity engine, so I expected some hic ups. Anyways, I'm sure it'll grow on me. Madden 12 grew on me a lot, and I can tell 13 is more polished. The pros? DB/WR animations are great, passing trajectories/timing, and some of the new animations are awesome (while some are head scratchingly awful). Specifically, the big hits are much more realistic than they have been in the past (especially with NCAA). Bottom line is I'm buying the game for CCM, and I'm all but guarenteed to be blown away by that.
I got pretty great pressure with San Fran's 3-4, but that was with one trial. I got the pressure with the LBs, unlike NCAA where it seems that a D-Lineman has to break through. The passing is going to take some time to get used to. The routes aren't breaking like in NCAA, so that's just getting used to the game. Running came across as really easy for me, and in the same breathe, FB blocking wasn't good. The Engine is going to have kinks in it, I'm just enjoying the ridiculous animations we're going to get before the bugs came out. Had Alex Smith, and was getting pressured, got out of the pocket to my right, and Canty was there, engaged with an O-lineman, stuck his arm out, clotheslined Smith, who kept running like he was doing the limbo for 4 yards. Awesome. Overall I like it, a little underwhelming because it's just the gameplay, the CCM is what I'm looking forward to the most. Also with only one game under my belt, a lot of this might pan out.
I still don't understand how you're from PA, are a Penn State fan, and are a Giants fan. It's sickening.
That, and everyone around me cheered for the Steelers or Eagles. Some family for Steelers, annoying ass kids in school for Eagles. My father and grandfather are Giants fans and cmon...its my dad and grandfather, they were Superman to me.
