I played 1 game last night. The Redskins/Seahawks matchup. Player wise, Ryan Kerrigan is a monster! Roy Helu Jr. is not too bad either. Game wise, the biggest improvement I saw was in the tackling and how guys being tackled actually made the motions of how they would look in real life. Thought that was cool. I could do without all the big "NFL Blitz"-like tackles though. It makes the game look kind of corny. And the big sound effects to accompany those tackles don't help that matter. I can alreeaaddyy hear people complaining about other players because of the FS/SS/DB blitzes. It's almost not fair how fast they move. It doesn't take much for one to break the line and get an easy sack. (At least not against the Seahawks) Those are my two biggest issues I guess. I thought the new screen pass was really nice how they drop the quarterback back automatically, and he keeps his feet moving so you don't have to do it manually anymore. The announcing was much improved. But only time will tell as to how repetitive those two are. Overall, I'm still stoked about the game because of how deep it goes. Gameplay didn't "wow" me, and I still think NCAA has the upperhand in that department. The flow of the players, play calling, and overall in-game presentation is just better on NCAA. But still looking forward to this game no doubt!!
Its Wednesday the 15th and I still didn't get to play last night. Went and saw the Dark Knight Rises, thought about the Demo the whole time. got home and got into an argument with My wife=No Xbox. Now I'm back in the office with no way to play till tonight around 10 again. arrrrr
I completely agree, this is one of the reasons why I stopped buying madden two years ago. If they don't fix this for the real game then i'm afraid it's another year with no madden. I do like the fact that I can change my audible buttons from the strategic pad to the old way. Also, why is it that the AI can break 4-5 tackles most of the time but I get brought down so easy even when using the truck stick?
If you don't like All Madden, play on All Pro. The point of the difficulty levels is to give you a greater challenge. Everyone has known for YEARS that when you crank up the difficulty the game does things like that, that aren't really realistic. Yes the CPU is going to break more tackles - yes your guys are going to drop more balls. The point is to make the game more challenging, even if it sometimes leads to odd things like that. If you don't like it, change the sliders or play on All Pro.
What I like: Like a lot of people said, the pre-game presentation is real nice! The players faces look dead on and the uni's are sick. The game did feel a lot more realistic than last years. I really like the new infinity engine and it's a great change. I think it's a step in right direction for the Madden series and it can only get better (I think). Running the ball felt great. I played one game on All-Pro with the Skins and it felt nice. They have a good backfield. Didn't have much trouble running the ball at all though which may be a concern, or attributed to Seattle's weak defense. Interceptions/catches and all around feel of the ball in the air was fantastic. Had one pick and it was saweeeeet! I had a kick return TD and it wasn't too difficult. I liked the animations of breaking tackles , very realistic. My WOW moment: When a receiver/rb got tackled or was in process of being tackled HOWEVER he didn't touch the ground with his knees/elbows....he was on top of an opposing player and got up and was still running!!! I don't know if it was a glitch but it looked like that is in the game this year. We do see that in real life where a receiver gets tackled but lands on an opposing player and gets back up and runs for the end zone. This was just sweet if they added that in the game. Can anyone confirm this aspect of the game? What I didn't like: At one point I got tackled and it was like my guy ran into the defender and fell backwards like 5 yards. Looked like a glitch and hopefully it will get fixed when the game is out. Another thing is the speed of the guys seems to be a little fast. I know in past demos they have changed the speed when the game was released but some of these guys are just quick. I guess it is how it's played in the NFL with faster guys and what not but it seemed just a tad too fast paced on the 'normal' speed setting. All in all after one game I'm just as excited as I was before the demo. If the demo was the same version as the full version, I'd rate it an 8.5 out of 10 ....that's without even experiencing CCM or any of the other features. It was fun and will be playing an All Madden game tonight. Cheers to a great Madden year coming up in less than 2 weeks!!
PRECISELY. I have an easy fix for your drop and CPU break tackle problems...keep all of the sliders on the All-Madden Level. Boost the catching of the user up by about 3-4 and see if that helps. Push the break tackled 3-4 down and see if that helps. The beauty of having those sliders.
Well what you are suggesting does not help me because for one all pro is entirely to easy and just because the difficulty goes up should not change how my players perform their actions. If a player drops a wide open pass every now and then I would understand because it happens in real life but this game is just stupid when it makes the same players drop balls 4-5 times a game when they are wide open just because of the bad programming. Why should a runner be able to break more tackles just because it is on All Madden? Do ratings not matter? If I tackle Ahmad Bradshaw with Patrick Willis by wrapping up and the correct angle why does he break the tackle 95% of the time? To say that making the game more challenging using "odd things" as you say is nonsense beacuse a challenging game is when you use tactics and personnel to exploit weaknesses and not some predertimened result just because of a difficulty setting. If the AI has the ability to do some sort of tactical change then I should be able to counter as long as I am apt at recognizing the situation and my personnel are capable of executing. In other words I should not be able to stop the run if I line up with a 3-3-5 formation and the opponent is running the power I, the AI should not be able to catch just about everything and then have my receivers drop wide open passes, the AI should not be able to stand in the pocket and tear me apart because the RT somehow went all the way across to block my DE or LB when said RT was not part of a pulling stunt, the AI should not be able to run over every LB in the game even with smaller backs when tackled one on one by some of the best tacklers in the game. I understand we all want a challenge which is the reason why we prefer All Madden but to have such ridiculous occurrances is just not right, you may not agree but we all have our opinions. I don't mess with sliders because I don't want to have to adjust every time I go online.
May I ask why? Like I said I have not played Madden in two years so for me not knowing is not out of the realm of possibility.
If you read this entire post you would have seen talk about the sliders available in the demo. That is all. My apologies if I offended.
I don't think that is true, I don't know much but it would not make much sense to have user vs user only. I can imagine a scenario where that would be very easily exploited, unless this is only applicable on same console user vs user. Now that I think about it, wasn't the purpose of sliders for the purpose of appeasing to those that were unhappy with the way the game played on the higher difficulties versus the AI?
hopefully this isn't an omen. on the first play of Madden 13, I returned the kickoff for a touchdown, only to have it returned because Bear Pascoe felt the need to maul a 49er. The next play, Ahmad Bradshaw coughed it up and Willis scooped it up and returned it for a TD. FML.
Really not a big fan of the blinding green grass but honestly once I switched the settings to slow the game feels sooo good.
I'm just glad I can use the Redskins in the demo and get some reps with RGIII. Beware the read option lol
I agree my KR TD with the dude from the Redskins I was just cruising up the sideline, crazy fast....I'm going to try slow speed tonight see what that's like.....Wonder why it feels so fast on Normal?
Way too fast on normal. My FS's and DB's were busting through the line looking like the Flash every time I sent them on blitzes. Crazy. I hope the retail game isn't that quick. Sh** was ridiculous!
My impressions after four games: Announcers - Very nice, much improved. IMO, best in a sports game since NHL. Infinity Engine/ Physics - Is it perfect? No, but it's a huge step in the right direction & makes the game look much more realistic. Seeing a guard pull & cut block a LB is a thing of beauty. Graphics/Presentation - I'm almost speechless. Exceptional job by EA making the game feel like your watching an actual NFL broadcast on TV. Stadiums, uniforms, lighting, etc. look great. The cutscenes, pre-game, post-game, replays etc. are the best ever by EA. Kinect - Hit or miss right now. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong or it's not working properly because sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn't. I'm sure its ok, I just need to spend more time with it. However, it's a welcomed addition to the game Gameplay - No complaints here. Seems more crisp than M12. The game speed does seem a little too fast at times. Passing - Back shoulder throws are awesome! I'm not seeing the dropped passes some are complaining about. Pass trajectory, WR-DB interactions, etc. look great! Running game - So much more realistic due to new physics. I could go on & on about this. Stadium music/Crowds - Crowd reactions have improved a great deal but there's still some tweaking to be done. Example, no reaction from crowd when a fumble was overturned in favor of the home team. Stadium music is awesome this year. Sounds like your at a real NFL game. Example, the jeopardy music playing during a challenge. That's a nice little addition that adds some realism to the whole Madden experience. Playbooks - Similar to M12 but with some nice additions (can't wait to see the rest of the teams playbooks).....Love the Nascar defense with the Giants Minor complaint - Can we please get those funky looking players off the sidelines. Sometimes they ruin a really good replay, lol. Summary - I'm very impressed with what I've seen so far. I've never been more excited for a Madden release than I am right now. EA has done an awesome job this year. IMO this is going to be by far the best Madden game we've ever played before. Can't wait til the 28th!
