In the first round of the TSO M13 tourney the #19 seeded Cardinals faced off with the #20 seeded Rams. The game was a slug fest from the first kickoff, with both teams attacking other team with the run game and trying to wear the other out. The Cards jumped to a early lead going into the 2nd quarter with a 14-7 lead, but the Rams caught up quickly and at the half the score was 21-21. The third quarter was the deal sealer for the Cards, scoring 21 unanswered points to separate themselves from the opposition. The Rams fought hard in the 4th to catch up, but the lead that the Cards had built was just too much, and the final score at the end was Cardinals 42 - Rams 28
    Players of the Game
Kevin Kolb- 340 yds, 12/16 att, 5 td, 0 int, 156.3 passer rating
Beanie Wells- 19 rushing att, 114 yds, 6.0 avg, 1 td, 3 rec for 75 yds
Great game Recchem! You got some skills.

Good game man, that was fun. First user game in Madden ever and I loved it...aside from giving up 450 yards :D See you over in TLY. Hopefully the Lambs and Bungles can tangle over there once or twice too.

    Dolphin's Defense Plays Big

Miami traveled to Gillette stadium to take on bringbackjimmy 's Patriot squad. The first quarter showed that this game could be a defensive slugfest as both teams only scored 7 points. The Patriots would answer first as Kyle Arrington read Tannehill's eyes, picked it off and went into the endzone untouched. Miami's next possession would entail a long methodical drive until they found the endzone with a 7 yard pass to Devone Bess. The second quarter was a disaster for Tom Brady as he threw pick after pick while the Dolphins would cash in on each one. Miami wound up scoring 17 points to end the half. Miami's defense limited the high flying NE offense to only 8 more points in the second half as the offense was able to put up 10. GG bringbackjimmy!

    FINAL SCORE:
    MIA- 34
    NE- 15

Falcons Defense Goes Huge To Move on!

The Atlanta Falcons were on the road in this rivalry match up between the Saints and the Falcons. The first quarter of this match was a flat 0-0 with a whole lot of turnovers between the 2 teams; it seemed quite obvious that both players were figuring not only their opponents defense but their own teams as well. Coach Mackie got a little excited with the air raid offense in the beginning of the match and it costed him 2 INT's in the first quarter that set his offense back quite a bit. It was an uphill battle until the start of the 2nd quarter when Julio Jones had just enough space to take a home run throw to house. Once the Falcons hit that first touchdown there defense took all the momentum answering the following play with a touchdown of their own. It seemed like once the Falcons defense adapted a little against Drew Brees and his air raid style with some zone coverages that he would lose all his composure and have a game he'll want to forget. The Falcons were able to force Drew into 6 interceptions from constant pressure and confusion and thus led them to their 24-14 victory of them. Although the Falcons looked sharp on defense there is a lot they will need to adjust and change on the offensive side of the ball if we want to continue into this tournament any further. GG iBleedOrange247, you played some great defense that game especially with what you were working with but ultimately Drew Brees threw some passes you couldn't control and I just got lucky today.

    Final Score:
    Falcons 24-14 Saints

Lions win on the road 37-28
The Detroit Lions came into this matchup as a huge underdog to division rival Greenbay. The Packers won the toss and elected to receive and Aaron Rodgers and company went to work. The Packer offense made there opening drive look easy as they marched down the field and Rodgers hooked up with Greg Jennings for a 24 yard touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead. Unlike the Greenbay offense the Lions offense struggled on there opening drive and were forced to a 3 and out. The next Packer drive looked very promising as they once again did whatever they wanted and moved the ball down inside the Detroit 5 but on 3rd and goal a quick pass was picked off by DE Cliff Avril to save the Lions from a 14-0 deficit and keep the score at 7-0 heading to the 2nd.
Greenbay again forced a 3 and out from the Lions offense who really couldn't get anything going. The Lions defense was then burned by Greg Jennings for a 59 yard touchdown to make it 14-0. Things were starting to look grim for the Lions but after a few first downs finally got the offense in rhythm and put together a successful scoring drive that ended with a 35 yard field goal 14-3. That little jolt of offense gave the defense some light as they were finally able to stop the Packer offense and forced a 3 and out of there own. The next Lions drive finally resulted in a touchdown as Matt Stafford found Megatron for a 40 yard touchdown to cut the lead to 14-10. The Packer offense settled back down and started to put together another great drive to close out the half but rookie CB Bill Bentley had other plans as he jumped the out route and picked off the Rodgers pass and took it 73 yards for a pick 6 17-14 Lions with :19 left in the half. Greenbay scored in 17 seconds as Aaron Rodgers hooked up with a wide open Jordy Nelson for a 78 yard touchdown to retake the lead heading into the break 21-17.
After the half the Detroit defense put the clamps down and were able to shutout the Packer offense in the third quarter while the Lions offense put up 14. The first touchdown came a quarter of the way through as Kevin Smith took the handoff and went 56 yards to put Detroit up 24-21. Then after a Packer 3 and out the Lions put together there best drive of the game and methodically moved the ball down the and on 3rd and goal Matt Stafford avoided the pressure and kept it himself for a 4 yard touchdown 31-21 heading to the 4th.
The Packers were finally able to get on the board in the second half as Aaron Rodgers hit James Jones for a 1 yard touchdown 31-28. Detroit would again do what the Packers did in the 1st quarter and marched all over the Packer defense and got all the way down to the 1 but instead of going for it on 4th and 1 from the 1 elected to kick the 17 yard field goal to make it 34-28 with 4:55 left in the game. The Packer offense once again stubbed there toe and punted the ball back to Detroit who ran some clock and tacked on another field goal with 1:19 left and on the final drive for Greenbay Aaron Rodgers would be picked off again for the 4th time and Detroit would knee it out to win 37-28. Great Game Cheez

Great game yourself man. I had my chances.... but your D came up big at big times. I am still kicking myself over that INT at the goal-line which would have made the score 14-0 in my favor in the first quarter. I score there, completely different game.

oh well. Best of luck to you the rest of the way man.

Bears win Overtime Thriller in the Metrodome

    Bears - 37
    Vikings -31

The game started out terribly for the Vikings. On the first play of the game, Adrian Peterson would fumble the ball, and on the next play Matt Forte would score his first of three touchdowns on the day on a 26 yard scamper as he paced the Bears to a 37-31 overtime victory.

Forte was the story of the day, 3 of the Bears 5 touchdowns to go with 23 carries for 96 yards to go along with 7 catches for 48 yards.

Cutler was average for the Bears, going 23/36 for 345 yards with 2 TD's and 2 INT's, one a costly pick in the redzone that almost made the game 14-0 early. But the Vikings would battle back.

Adrian Peterson had 21 carries for 155 yards, including a 75 yard TD run in the 4th quarter that pulled the Vikings even. Jerome Simpson had an efficient day in the receiving game with 4 catches, 3 of them TD's, and one that made it seem as though Minnesota would be advancing.

With 2 minutes left in the 4th, a 49 yard kick return by Devin Hester had the Bears in business. Cutler was patient on the final drive and looked to his big target, Brandon Marshall for 3 passes, including the game tying TD to send it to OT.

In OT, the Bears would win the toss and elect to receive. After a short loss by Forte, Cutler found Kellen Davis in the soft part of the zone for 40 yards and a 1st and 10 on the Viking 34 yard line. A quick slant to Hester was going for a short gain but a broken tackle resulted in 23 yards and a first and 10 at the 11. On the next play, the Bears set up to run out of the weak I as they had all day, but instead ran Forte into the EMPTY flat for an easy score to give Chicago the 37-31 victory.

    gg JSimms

Next up for The Bears are the Detroit Lions and coach ZCar352

GG Man. It was nice to have my first game playing M13 be versus a user. I'm used to playing much better D, but it seems like neither one of us really could! I'll need to play some more to figure out if its the All-Pro setting or the Vikings defensive roster (which is pretty bad). Receivers on both sides seemed to be able to jump up an catch just about everything thrown their way. Ponder was 18-21, which should be pretty tough to do with his attributes and the receiving core in Minny. Anyways, good luck the rest of the tourney and represent that NFC Norse!

Seems others are having the same issues - lowest-scoring game so far = 24-14.

    Jags : 41
    Titans: 27

Jags win in a battle of AFC South opponents. The running games were both strong. MJD carried the ball 25 times for 165 yards to help the Jags close out the Titans after Jake Locker played like a boss at one time completing 13 straight passes. Finishing 18/24 273 and 2 TD and a pick. The Jags used a two QB system being Gabbert sucked so Henne came in and was slightly better . Overall it was a battle the whole game and in the end the score got away from the Titans

Quite funny how this bracket worked out, as capp and I go way back and our Saints-Panthers game always come down to the end of the fourth quarter. This one would be no different. The first two quarters were mostly Denver, as they put up a 17-0 lead with 2:28 to go in the first half. The Chiefs started clicking on the next drive, and scored on a 3 yard pass on third and goal to tighten up the game 7-17.
Denver went three and out on their opening drive of the second half, and Kansas City picked up where they left off with an 11 yard pass to Jamal Charles to make it a 14-17 game. The Broncos were forced to punt again, but KC lost the ball on a fumble on their next drive. Denver capitalized with a nice drive that ended with a short 4 yard pass to the TE to give Denver a 24-14 lead heading into the fourth.
Kansas City really narrowed the lead in the fourth, scoring on a 31 yard TD pass to Baldwin, and a FG after forcing another punt by the Broncos. It was now a 24-24 game with 5:44 left in the game. Denver put together a long drive that was held to a FG to give them a 27-24 lead with 2:20 left to go in the game. The Chiefs drove down the field and got into FG range with a few seconds and 1 TO remaining. Cassel threw his second pick of the game to a lurking user LB, and Denver was able to kneel it out and take the win.
Great game as always capp34, it's a shame one of us had to lose that one.

Niner's D Paces Opening Round Victory
The San Francisco defense came up huge Wednesday, collecting an astounding 8 sacks, leaving the Hawks with a few broken wings. Aldon Smith and Justin Smith both combined for 6 of those sacks, while Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman were stout against the run. The two MLBs combined for 17 tackles, while limiting the Seattle running attack to 67 yards.
Offensively, the Niners showed tremendous balance, with 197 yards through the air and 187 on the ground.
GG Papa Perry . This defense was just on crack today, nothing you could've done

The Carolina Panthers travled into Raymond James Stadium to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a little bit of an underdog. The Buccaneers offense moved right down the field on the Carolina defense to open things up and eventually took an early 7-0 lead. Cam Newton's first trip onto the field didn't last long as he was intercepted by CB Eric Wright. Tampa was setup with great field position but the Panthers defense held their own forcing a field goal to extend their lead to 10. Neither squad did much on offense the next few possessions until Eric Wright again snagged a Cam Newton pass late in the first quarter. The Carolina defense again forced a field goal to trail 13-0. As if it could get any worse for Carolina, a screen to DeAngelo Williams looked promising as it could get but he was leveled and fumbled and the fumble was recovered by Tampa Bay.
The Jon Beason led defense held strong again, this time Beason intercepted QB Josh Freeman to put an end to that drive. It only took a few plays for Carolina to strike on the drive when veteran WR Steve Smith went streaking and Newton hit the speedy receiver in stride for the 85 yard touchdown and just like that Carolina only trailed 13-7. Josh Freeman collapsed in the 2nd quarter, Freeman was intercepted 3 more times in the quarter and Carolina added points every time to take a 20-13 lead at the half. Opening the 2nd half, the Panthers added 7 more when Newton hit TE Greg Olsen to lead 27-13. Freeman recovered from the 1st half troubles and led a nickel & dime drive down the field along with running back LeGarrette Blounte who capped off the drive from a few yards out as Tampa found themselves down 27-20. Tampa added a field goal on their next drive while thhe Panther's offense went a quick 3 and out to follow and Tampa was on the march looking for more but CB Chris Gamble came up big on another Josh Freeman interception that Gamble housed late in the 3rd to give Carolina the 34-23 lead. Tampa moved down the field to open the 4th and got into the endzone again, 2 point conversion was no good as the Buccaneers were now trailing 34-29 with a little over 6 minutes remaining.
Carolina went to the ground and pound and moved it past midfield as the time began to run out for Tampa as the Panthers kept moving the chains. Newton hooked up with TE Greg Olsen for another touchdown with a little over 2:00 remaining but another Josh Freeman interception sealed the deal for the Panthers 41-29. gg Randiesel75
Hard to recap this thing off the top of my head. Don't remember many stats except for the 7 interceptions Freeman threw.
