I just want to say its nice to see this site buzzing about Madden for a change, something I thought I'd never see with all the support NCAA has gotten from this site over the years.
Haven't been able to make a statement like that for a long time. Although, we're comparing apples to oranges with some regards.
Having played Madden since sometime around 91 I can honestly say that this is the best football game ever produced as far as gameplay. The Infiniy Engine is everything EA had hyped it up to be. I feel like this is the biggest step in the right direction Madden has made in many years.
I have not played Madden since 2010 and I very impressed in how much they improved the game this year, especially on the defensive side of the ball where I have had my players making spectacular plays to cause incompletions in ALL Madden settings. Does this site have a sliders section or does everyone play the game with default sliders?
I love this version of Madden more than any XBOX 360 Madden so far. The CCM is great because I feel I have more control over how my players develop (XP) and I can guide the team that I control more into the style I play. Sure, it's not perfect in all aspects, but I felt EA took a step in the right direction. If this gets polished a little more next year will be the high-water mark for the video game sports genre.
Is nobody else having major problems with the new physics engine? This thing is good at points, but comically bad at others. A couple problems I have: -The massive pile-ups after the play is over. There will be the ball carrier and a defender on the ground, then all the sudden three or four linemen walk over and trip over them and fall on their faces. It doesn't really change the gameplay but it looks silly. -Running backs tripping over linemen at the line. I realize there are ways around this, but it's pretty annoying to say the least. Steven Jackson is not going to fall on his face after clipping the heels of Roger Saffold. -What I like to call, "phantom tackles." Your runner going to the ground after seemingly nobody touching him or incidental contact made by a defender. I expected to see some issues, so I'm definitely not blown away. Also, the depth in CCM is incredible. I think this franchise is finally headed in the right direction.
I'm confused. You have only pointed out the negatives and then say Madden is heading in the right direction.....
....I said I had a couple issues with the buggy physics engine and pointed them out. I made no other negaive remarks about the game, then complimented ths tremendous upgrade to the career mode, and said that overall I think the franchise is finally headed in the right direction after years of wasted upgrades.
Well anyone would trip and fall on their face if they were running full speed and suddenly tripped on a foot or anything random in the way. Just because he's a NFL RB doesn't mean general physics don't apply to him.
I think this site is more for online game players.... But I play offline vs the CPU and over the years i have become quite good at creating sliders and helping others to figure out settings. I don't see any slider section over here so i'll probably create a thread in the next few days posting my settings for All-Madden Level.
You're missing the point. In real life somebody would fall. However, a real player would have the vision and footwork to not stumble and trip, but that aspect is not accounted for in the game. If you watch every NFL game this season, you will see somebody truly trip and fall a couple times at most. Meanwhile in this game you see if a couple times every game. I'm really liking this game so far but the physics engine needs much refining. When it does get that work, it will be a thing of beauty.
So pro football isn't real life? And also, I'm sure a RB job is to read the hole and burst through it, not go all happy feet while they're looking down at where feet are. Same thing with basketball - you don't see Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, etc. looking down when they dribble, do you? As far as Madden goes, it may not be perfect but it's better than running into someone and being stopped like you're Super Mario running into a brick or something.
Haha, you don't have to look at your feet while running to avoid others. I don't want to go all "high school glory days," but I played some running back and fullback in the day and it was pretty easy for a schmuck like me to make it cleanly through a hole without tripping or stumbling, let alone a professional athlete. You further supported what I am saying by bringing up the fact that professional athletes never have to look down to maneuver without any problems. I don't think we're even talking about the same thing here, so let's just agree to disagree
I don't think I disagree though lol. I understand what you're saying. In any event, that's something that would have to be tuned over time, which they said they would be able to do. A bigger issue IMO is how loosely the ballcarriers "hang" their arm out when getting tackled. I've seen stuff CONSISTENTLY that would have a guy cut immediately LOL. If guys arms are gonna swing like that they need to fumble.
Yeah one of the things I'm not a fan of is the ball carrier's arm movement with the arm carrying the ball. Too often I see the arm get tucked behind the ball carrier, where he's holding it behind his back above his ass while in the middle of getting tackled, as well as the "holding it like a loaf of bread" carry.
This.. plus when they get tackled and end up in a mangled heap on the field. I have seen about 200 broken ankles, dislocated knee caps and shoulders. It's funny to watch though, they move like string puppets after the whistle.
I think i could be talked into a sub forum for sliders... it we be right next to the Media one at the top. Would that be sufficient?
As I said before a great game, BUT my biggest complaint EA: What happened to the "defensive assignments" adjustments?? I have been getting worked by people putting their #1 WR in the slot or on the line so they're covered by a LB, while Revis is stuck on the outside covering the FB/HB. The option is completely gone from the "Coaching Options" menu, and it takes too long to switch 3 CB's man coverages pre-snap. Come on EA what gives..
anyone see anywhere about roster update release dates? or when to expect the maddencareer website to be fully functional?
True, but theres only so many users at one time in the TSO community room Last year I think they came out on Sept 10th, after the preseason and once all the teams had finalized their rosters. So I'm guessing this year will be the same??
Why is it that in CCM player mode, none of my players playoff stats count towards his career stats? My CB ended the reg season with 8 INT's and then I had a monster playoff where I had 4 more Int's and 3 Def TD's and none of those numbers are shown in his career total? It still shows him as only having 8 Int's for his career.
Despite the fact that the DL still re-engage with the OL after beating them, I love that edge rushers are effective. The flip side to this is the fact that stepping up into the pocket actually rewards you this year. <----Happy Peench
