What does everyone thinking of some recruiting restrictions. It will take a few seasons to see if it works but it would be worth a shot.

I've been doing a little research. I had to use Rivals.com because ESPN.com doesn't track 5 stars beyond 2 years back. Within the last 5 years only 2 teams have signed more than 4 :5stars: prospects. Tennessee did it twice and USC 3 times. But in the last 3 years no one has gotten more than 4. I believe that we should maybe restrict our number of :5stars: to 3 because that seems to be the average. And to possibly get quicker results restrict our :4stars: to 10. In my eyes I think we will see the computer back in the hunt a lot quicker.

    Thoughts?

I'm all for it, I can't get more than a couple :5stars: anyway.

You won't see results before next years game, but whatever.

To play devils advocate, there are rarely even 30 total 5 star recruits in any given season, so if all 12 user teams sign 3 :5stars: and 10 :4stars: that would be 150 recruits that the CPU isn't getting, and likely the users are going to cherry pick the best guys to go after. That still doesn't leave the other 90 CPU teams much in the way of talent. How many teams classes would have changed with this rule if you'd had it in from day 1? Probably 2 or 3.

The setup of this OD, where users control the best 10-12 recruiting teams in the entire nation, who are also the top 10 generally in terms of talent and the fact that the CPU calls plays like a retard and I'm not sure how competitive you expect the CPU to be long term.

If you want the CPU to be competitive in my mind you have 3 options:
    1. Jack with the sliders to make bad players play like they are superhuman,
    2. Put more users in less conferences to concentrate their impact into specific regions of the country which allows the CPU teams in other conferences to succeed in recruiting, or
    3. Play with lower tier teams.

My vote (for whatever it's worth) is leave things where they are and play more user games, which may not be possible. If the scores really bother some people, maybe mandate that people play CPU games with chew clock on all the time.

I think it's way too late for this. The damage is already done and we only have 3 or 4 seasons left.

I think it's really just a lesson learned at this point and next summer we know better and can make a more informed decision on structure.

Yeah, probably lesson learned for next year. I am all for recruiting restrictions on next years game though. I'm not advocating socialism but I have no problem with everyone being a bit more balanced in the number of top recruits that they bring in every year.

I'm not necessarily against this either. I don't see anything wrong with keeping the playing field as level as possible. I also don't see anything wrong with having a free for all either.

The easiest way to balance recruiting is to not have everyone using top 10 teams. If you look at some of the ODs where guys are using mid-tier teams only, generally it's pretty rare for there to be more than 1-2 user teams with top 10 classes until 3-4 years in. The scores aren't necessarily always close vs the CPU but the talent is closer.

I think next year's game will be time for a change in teams personally. I love Ohio State and all, but I've beated Northwestern 20 f'n times already. I think I'll be ready for something new.

LOL, yeah what he said. We all know it is true. Until EA makes the CPU call the right plays the CPU games will be a joke or a nightmare. We could go the route of the Experience and run people out of the league with ridiculous sliders. I would rather just play more user games than get robo QB'ed to death.

I think for next year's game we may want to go with lower tiered schools, say 4-stars or lower. This way we have to build up the schools which will at least take a few seasons. We could also look at doing restrictions on recruiting or lumping teams in similar geographic areas.

Good news for Bond, if NCAA rates teams the way they play on the field then Michigan should be available. :p

The computer being competitive is like perry getting a date....or me having Internet tomorrow....or Brian finally vein accepted for coming out of the closet. No matter how hard we try it's out of our hands. Could look at more user games and maybe extendin the advance times a little. That might not help CPU get tougher but it would give more challenging games a season
