The season has begun and Manchester United faces two formative sides this first week. They will play FC Porto and Fluminense. Preseason rankings has placed FC Porto as the number one favorite to finish top 3, but Manchester United finds themselves in the top 3 as well. This match will be a huge test for the new premier manager.
This season De Gea finds himself as the man between the iron. In preseason matchups he has proven to make key saves and is expected to make many more this season. The Red Devils will be running a 4-4-1-1. The back 4 will consist of Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic and Smalling will be switched with Jones from time to time. The midfield will consist of Young and Nani on the wings with Fletcher and Anderson in the middle. Carrick wil make starting apparences in place of Anderson on occasion. The top two will be Chicharito and Rooney. Currently Rooney will be the target forward with Chicharito playing up top at Striker. These two may switch at times to give Manchester United new looks at net.

This game got off to a slow start for both teams, trying to feel each other out in the first game of the year. Once Nani scored on a nice curler, the floodgates opened as Manchester United scored two more, both from Wayne Rooney. From there the Red Devils tried to possess and ensure the win. Near the end of time Fluminense got one to make the game look respectable. Owner Connor said, "It was a good win and the biggest win by any team this season. Every game between any two teams is going to be tight so it's good to get off to a big start." Manchester United is eager to play two more games versus FC Porto and rivals Manchester City.

Pretty evenly matched game. Both teams played a similar style where they possess up the field, with Manchester United playing a more counterattacking game. Manchester United was able to get up early on a Hernandez goal. In the first half each team had a shot that went of the post. Rooney then got a foul in the box that was deserved. He finished the pk. Porto battled back to get two goals in quick succession. Late both teams missed chances that could have put them ahead including one where Porto missed a nearly wide open net in the 90th minute. The game ended 2-2. And with that results no team in Premier Black has 2 wins to their name. The leaders have 1 win and 1 tie.

Manchester United was for the most part outplayed in this matchup against ryalaman's Liverpool squad. Rooney got his goal on a ball that he stole from the last defender and tucked it away. Hernandez scored on a ball that bounced out of a pile of people and had a wide open goal. Needless to say these goals were not the best. Carroll had no trouble burying two in the second half to tie the game 2-2.

Manchester United has 5 points after 3 games and plays Manchester City for their 4th game.

    Dzeko (9.5)

A very high energy game with blown chances by both sides. In the end, the 3-0 lead was just too much for United to overcome. A strong charge late by United to make it 3-2 was thwarted by a soft goal in the 88th by Aguero, bringing his season total to 6, only 2 behind Hulk and into a tie with Suarez. Rooney also hit his 5th and 6th for the season. After 2 weeks Manchester United are 1-1-2 and sit in 6th place.

Tottenham got off to an early start off an Adebayor goal from a beautiful cross by Lennon. From then United pressured that backs and made them give up the ball in the attacking half. Most of United's goal were off poor clearances by Tottenham. To say the least they were somewhat cheap goals. Manager Connor said, "I'll take anything. A win is a win." This is a big win for United as they needed to turn back around after 2 ties and a loss.

Manchester scored early and often. Both of Hernandez's first two goals were off parries by the goalie Nielsen. Both goals were easy for him to score, they were just right place at right time and unlucky for Sporting KC. Then Hernandez got his 3rd off a breakaway where he touched it by Nielsen and put it in the goal. Manchester United got up 5-0 and were comfortably when Sporting KC started to finally score, but it was a little too late. It was unfortunate for Sporting KC as Manchester United was just too powerful for them today and they could finish while Sporting shot everything right at De Gea. Hernandez now has more goals than Rooney at 9, while Rooney has 8.

We lost connection as soon as the game ended so I don't have any other info. Which sucks. GG Game was 0-0 at halftime. Not very many chances by either team. Fletcher had a spectacular goal where he curved it into the goal when the ball popped out after a corner. Then Chamakh tied it up. Hernandez had 2 quick goals in the 68' and 70' minutes. He missed two very easy shots, which could have put this out of reach. Arsenal got one back in the 90th.

The game started off relatively slow without a whole lot of attacking. Bent got in behind the United defense a few times, but De Gea came up big. Villa found themselves offside numerous times as well. It wasn't until Hernandez was taken down in the box and a foul was called. It may have been a soft foul, but Rooney finished well to put United up and went into half 1-0. Villa had incredible movement with a lofted through ball to Ireland and then a slotted pass behind the United defense for an easy Bent finish. To finish up the match Anderson played a ball to Hernandez who turned in the box and hit a bullet to the upper for the finish. Manchester United advances to 4-1-2 (W-L-T) and has 14 points. To stay close behind the leaders FC Porto and Manchester City.

Manchester United loses first round TFL Cup Match

Manchester United was very unlucky not to get on the score sheet at least once, with 2 shots off the post and another goal called back because Hernandez was offside. Robben capitalized on a free kick just outside the box in the 34th on a very soft pulling foul and Gomez took it down the middle of the field himself for his goal in the 45th. This game easily could have been a draw or even a win for United, but Munich managed to capitalize on their chances and get a couple of lucky breaks off the post.

At halfway point Manchester United still believes
The TFL 12- Season 1 is nearing the halfway point and Manchester United find themselves in 3rd place, 5 point points behind the two frontrunners, Porto and City, and 5 points ahead of 4th place Liverpool. At this point United has been strong only dropping points to these three teams. In the latest press conference owner Connor said, "We still believe we can take this championship. We can't drop points from here on out though, especially when we play Porto and City again. However, if we come away with 3 points in each of those games we have a chance. It will be difficult, but we believe. If you turn our jerseys inside out, on the emblem "believe" is stitched. This has been and always will be our motto." When asked about their cup match versus Bayern Munich Connor said, "It was a disappointing loss, especially when we believed and still do believe that we could have won. I suppose this just gives us one thing to focus on instead of two. I would liked to have gone farther and show everybody what we are made of. Our focus now is to become the surprising victors of the Premier League Black. If we fail at that we think we should at least make the Champions League and we'll do our best to show what we are made of in that very competitive tournament."

Manchester United was lucky to get away with 3 pts this match. Chelsea controlled most of the first half and it took incredible defending in front of the goal for United to keep a clean sheet. Rooney notched one on a nice series of passing and a shot outside the box to get the game winner. In the 87th min Lukaku hit the post, in what would have tied the game. However, most of this game was played in the middle of the field and lots of possessive play by both sides.

This matchup was similar to the one earlier in the week, but with more offensive firepower. Manchester United finally got some shots off on Chelsea and controlled for most of the match. United hit the post 3 or 4 times this match. However, for the number of close shots the goals United did score were poor girls. They slowly rolled in the goal or were followups off of missed shots. Chelsea was able to notch one in the first half on a nicely played ball to Drogba's head.

United executed their plan to possess to control this game and win. Owner Connor told his team that, "This team can score, they can't score if they don't have the ball. The plan worked, in the run of play City had very few chances, but still had many breakaway chances that could have changed the game. City could have scored numerous goals, but De Gea and the back line blocked nearly everything. The last goal by Hernandez was a bit much as the game could have ended in 4-1 and it was scored fairly cheaply. This may have triggered something in the City's forwards who had back to back late challenges for straight reds. Anderson had the game of his life scoring two goals, one from nearly 30 yds out. Manchester United now takes a big lead for the second place spot.

Ridiculous match that (while exciting) was punctuated more by the mistakes than the positive play. Gerrard got the party started in the 10th minute with a turn and fire from a few yards outside the area which was both perfectly placed, and had plenty of power on it to put Liverpool up 1-0 early on. But Man U would respond and respond quickly. Ashley Young would make a sublime run down the wing and fire in a cross that found Chicharito (but still, screw that guy) on the far post and he nodded it in to make it 1-1. Just 6 minutes later, Nani found himself with a 1 on 1 with Pepe Reina and slotted it away to go ahead 2-1. But just before the half, disaster struck for Man U. A low cross was bungled in the back and Vidic ended up walking the ball into his own net to tie the score back up at 2-2.

The second half started with a big mistake by 'Pool which led to a big Man U goal. 2 defenders ran into each other and fell down as a corner deflected right to Vidic's foot. He took his time and slotted away the ball calmly to give Man U another lead. But again, Liverpool would answer. This time Suarez would find himself running with Vidic on his back and he made a fantastic turn to give himself some space before finessing the ball into the net to once again tie it at 3-3. Finally, in the 86th minute, a fortunate deflection off of a goal kick gave the ball right to Suarez running in on net and he put it past a charging De Gea to put Liverpool up by their final margin of 4-3.

The mistakes (as I said before) were numerous and its very possible that the stormy weather played a big factor in the sloppiness. The OG from Man U was brutal as was the mistake/lucky deflection that led to the final goal for Suarez. On the other side, Liverpool gave away a penalty very late in the proceedings (which was ultimately missed by Rooney) and made a number of mistakes in the back that led to Man U goals.

At the end of the day, its not a performance that either Liverpool or Man U will be happy with, but its a win that Liverpool will take and it represents a remarkable turnaround for a team that was scuffling just a few weeks ago as they now have put themselves in a great position to claim 2nd place in the league and have taken a commanding grip on a Champions League spot.

United struggled to get anything going early, however they had all the possession throughout the entire game. United has really changed their past paced style for the beginning of the season to a slowed down possessive style in the latter of the season. Fluminense got a goal early, but United took it right back on Hernandez's first of five goals of the day. The golden boot title may not be over just yet with Aguero having to miss 2 games next week. Hernandez may be able to catch Aguero if the ball falls his way. This win puts United back in second place and they should be able to finish out the season in second before the CL starts.
