    Gentlemen,

Doug and I spent some time last night going over league wide depth charts, and to be perfectly honest the results were disappointing to say the least.

First, a refresher on the depth chart rules:

Upon review of the depth charts, 2/3 of the league has at least one violation in their depth chart. There are quite a few teams with multiple violations.

To make everything crystal clear, I decided to list ALL allowable depth chart substitutions by position:

    • QB
      • 1: QB
      • 2 - QB
      • 3 - QB, P, K
    • HB
      • 1: HB, FB
      • 2: HB, FB
      • 3: HB, FB
      • 4: HB, FB
    • FB
      • 1: FB
      • 2: FB, TE, HB
      • 3: FB, TE, HB
        • USE OF HB OR TE AT FB POSITION SHOULD BE USING SPARINGLY, IF AT ALL, AND ONLY FOR BACK-UP PURPOSES
    • WR
      • 1: WR
      • 2: WR
      • 3: WR
      • 4: WR
      • 5: WR
      • 6: WR
    • TE
      • 1: TE, FB
      • 2: TE, FB
      • 3: TE, FB, LT, RT
    • OFFENSIVE LINE
      • NO RESTRICTIONS (ALL OFFENSIVE LINE POSITIONS ARE INTERCHANGEABLE)
    • LE
      • 1: LE, RE, DT
      • 2: LE, RE, DT
      • 3: LE, RE, DT
    • RE
      • 1: RE, LE, DT
      • 2: RE, LE, DT
      • 3: RE, LE, DT
    • DT
      • 1: DT, LE, RE
      • 2: DT, LE, RE
      • 3: DT, LE, RE
      • 4: DT, LE, RE
      • 5: DT, LE, RE
    • LOLB
      • 1: LOLB, ROLB, MLB
      • 2: LOLB, ROLB, MLB
      • 3: LOLB, ROLB, MLB
    • MLB
      • 1: MLB, LOLB, ROLB
      • 2: MLB, LOLB, ROLB
      • 3: MLB, LOLB, ROLB
      • 4: MLB, LOLB, ROLB

      • 1: CB
      • 2: CB
      • 3: CB
      • 4: CB
      • 5: CB (MAY BE A BACK UP SAFETY, IF ONLY 4 CORNERBACKS ON ROSTER)
    • FS
      • 1: FS, SS
      • 2: FS, SS
      • 3: FS, SS (MAY BE A BACK UP CB, IF ONLY 2 SAFETIES ON ROSTER)

      • NO RESTRICTIONS
    • 3DRB
      • 1: HB, FB
      • 2: HB, FB
      • 3: HB, FB
That is the full list of allowable substitutions via the depth chart. Anything else would require an off-season position change request.

NOTE: The most common infractions we found were related to DEs playing OLB and vice versa.

Rather than list all the violations we found, and we do have a lengthy list, I would like everyone to review this, check your depth charts against it, and reply here once you have done so.

Thank you all for your anticipated cooperation.

    ~Jim

The computer will automatically do this during the offeseason/preseason. Mine was the same way. I think it has to do with not having enough people at that position to fill it normally so it automatically throws an end in. Another issue is it puts your top wr and/or rb in on returns. Mine had Torrey Smith as the primary return man on knockoffs and special teams.

I know I have two ends at olb spots. That in part has to do with the lack of depth on my team at that position, as well as them being better fits to play olb in a 3-4 than de. They were signed with the intentions to move to olb; however, due to the timing of the signings/start of the season, the switch wasn't possible.

I will try to make the change tonight.

I think the CPU adjusts depth charts on their own. Because I remember looking through mine a couple days ago and things were moved around that I never did.
