Thanks Moe! But I want to caution, running the play clock under 10 (or even to zero) is not a violation in and of itself. Sometimes it will happen; who hasn't spent a little more time than they realized trying to find the right play, making a substitution, etc.? If someone is doing it repeatedly (more than a couple of times in a drive), then it becomes an issue.

Again; while I have no problem with a courtesy reminder, if the issue can have a direct impact on the game (late in the game for instance), pausing the game does indeed interrupt the flow of the game, in my opinion. A complaint is a complaint, so please everyone make sure it's important enough that it can't wait until afterwards.

I understand the rules of the league. To my knowledge no one has complained about myself snapping the ball to soon (at least no one has said anything to me about it).

Maybe I'm over thinking everything, but imo sim football is playing the game like it is played in real life. Offenses vary their snap counts and mix in hard counts to keep the defense from being able to jump the snap. Personally, if an oppenent of mine snaps the ball a second after getting set from time to time, it's not going to bother me. When selecting a play on D I have my two main focuses/two areas I think my oppenent is going to try to attack at that particular time; therefore, I select my play based off of that and make adjustments as quickly as possible. I feel like if I didn't get everything set up or click on the guy I wanted to be on in time then it is no ones fault but my own.

The main points of reasoning for saying what I said are as follows:

Lets say it is 3rd and 2, my oppenent comes out in a jumbo/heavy formation and for whatever reason I decide to come out in a nickle formation. Why should I expect him to allow me to shift my DL or LB's or do whatever it is I need to do to adjust? I made the decision to come out in poor formation based on what my oppenent came out in.

If the Patriots have a designed run play called to the left, Tom Brady gets to the line and sees that he has a 1 or 2 man advantage to that side, is he not going to try and get the ball snapped as quickly as possible to take advantage of that?

Finally, the biggest point is this: some times during the game, player's will start shifting their DL or LB's immediately after breaking the huddle before even really seeing how the offense lines up. If myself or my oppenent does that, why would/should they want to give the other time to reshift everyone? I know when making an adjustment(s) I am setting myself up for the successes or failures of that adjustment(s) - every adjustment(s) has its consquences. If I want to make the most accurate adjustment(s) I should wait to see how the offense lines up - is the TE on the left or right, is one side heavier than the other, etc. before making any adjustment(s). If I decide to make those prior to seeing that then imo my oppenent has every right to take advantage of my mistake/carelessness.

There is a big difference between doing something occasionaly to surprise an opponent versus clearly taking advantage/exploitng the game. As I said before, I understand and have respected the rules of the league. However, I also feel like my oppenent has a right to take advantage of any coaching mistake I make throughout the course of the game.

As I mentioned yesterday, I personally I have not had an issue with any oppenent regarding any of the rules thus far. Just wanted to clarify on what was said and why it was said. Best of luck to everyone during the last half of the season.

Michael Overman Wanted to let you know the Ravens and Browns are week 9 oppenents. The Bengals and Ravens are week 10. The week 9 game has been played and the recap will be posted either tonight or tomorrow.

I get everything you are saying Josh. From a football strategy standpoint it makes perfect sense.

But while we are a SIM league, we still have the constraints of the video game and the AI of the game. While taking advantage of mismatches is indeed part of the game, a quick snap to take advantage of such a mismatch is unsavory in a league like ours.

There is a difference between catching the defense out of position and taking advantage of flawed AI logic, and nobody HERE should be trying to achieve the latter.

Nobody has accused you of anything, and i haven't received any complaints. It's just a matter of trying to assimilate a newer member to our style of sim play.

Also if you don't run the same plays game in and game out, or multiple times in one game, it gets pretty hard to dig up new plays once the end of the 3rd/4th quarter approaches. Can't really expect everyone to beat the :15 clock every single time; then you get into people rushing to the line and quick snapping just out of fear of going below :15. Which brings up a whole nother issue at hand. The :15 is a nice frame and time mark, but IMO, I don't think anyone should rush their personal game, or anyone else's game because of it. That's when mistakes happen and QB's make errand throws! Just my .02.

With the experience the great majority of us have with this game, I really don't see a reason why you'd be snapping the ball with less than :10 on the clock. Unless I'm oversimplifying things. I totally understand the occasional play going under :10 but we can usually break the huddle and get to the line with over :20 left. However, I have to say it really hasn't been an issue with the majority of my opponents.

Josh, please understand that the purpose of our responses are to help give you the perspective of what our league is about. By no means do I want you to feel like we are singling you out. We just know that you are new to the league, so we want to help you to understand the foundation of our league as a vast majority of us have been participating in this league for years.

To add to what Jim had to say, even though we are a SIM league, there are certain things from the NFL that just cannot translate into our video game league format. The quick snapping is just one example. Perhaps another example to help put it in perspective is that many teams in the NFL find a weakness in their opponent and exploit that weakness over and over and over again. If we were to allow that type of practice in our league, we would allow guys to run the same plays all game long. Not only that, we'd allow guys to take advantage of using the same side of the field all game long or use the same receiver all game long or use the same overload blitz all game long. If we wanted that, we wouldn't be participating in this league. We would be in a lobby somewhere looking for an unknown opponent. I'm not saying that is what you want or even what you represent. Rather, I'm trying to portray the essence of what our league is about. The purpose of our league is that we want to play our opponent at their very best, not take advantage of them. I want my opponent to have the time to have his defense set. Not so that he can beat me or take advantage of some kind of overload glitch. On the contrary. It is out of respect so that I can go against my opponent's best game plan of opposition. By performing the simple action of allowing our opponent two to three seconds to get his defense set makes our league that much more quality and the games are even that much more fun because they are challenging.

Just know that even though something is done in reality in the NFL doesn't mean we always have the luxury of practicing the same activity in our video game football league. I hope that this helps explain.

While I don't disagree with you Loren that guys should NOT have to feel rushed, I also think that if a person is having trouble digging up new plays toward the end of a game, my recommendation would be to get to know their play book more. There should be no reason that a guy is spending 25 seconds to perform substitutions and/or look for a play before breaking the huddle.

I def. understand that side as well. It's not really/nor has it ever been an issue for me at all. Just stating why it could be to some.

Whats up ladies...sorry for the delay. Just got a new job and celebrated my bday this past weekend...so its been a lil wild. Anyways, I firmly agree and understand to what Jim posted. Overall the last 8 weeks have been smooth as far as overall play. There may have been a few times i noticed an opponent run a screen back to back...or settle for that curl route on 3rd down for the 4th time. But those are things that will happen and i can get by. Quicking snapping hasnt been an issue in my game but i do know some folks who have a heavy hand and like to speed things up.

Like i said...for the most part things have been solid. Believe it or not im still trying to get used the gameply...it doesnt seem quite there. I know this wasnt touched upon but the rushing and defensive awr are just brutal. Running is still very arcadish and it doesnt help that the CPU doesnt help you on defense. A player will just stand still and not even attempt a tackle, let alone wrap and tackle....and im not talking a 70ovr player. Im talkin like a legit dude with an awr of 80+. At this point im still enjoying the game and workin on ways to get around it. But again, things have been spendid.

I don't have any issues. The game plays great to me, except for the ease of running back kicks. If I have an issue with an owner, I wait til the game is over unless there is a repeated act or something to impact the outcome of the game. But to be honest, I haven't had any issues with none of my opponents gameplay thus far. That's why I love this league because the level of competition is so high. I never complain about the sliders because you can't please everybody about everything, every time. I just adjust my game play as needed. Good luck to everyone with the rest of their season.

Thank you all for the thought that went into your responses and discussions.

I hope that nobody takes any of the responses or corrections personally. We are all working towards the same goal of having the best Madden league around.

This is by no means an attempt to end the discussions started on this thread, I even took some notes at work that I will probably still touch on, but I wanted to acknowledge and thank you all for the fact that all of our owners responded satisfactorily.

Keep up the great job guys. This league is not about me or the other members of management, all of YOU guys are who makes this league great!
