Temple @ Maryland

The Terps enter the season with alot on their shoulders early as preseason previews have them beating some of the best teams in the NCAA. Their first game would come against the Temple Owls. Temple was not much of a challenge for Maryland as the Terps cruised to 44-17 victory. Some leaders stood out among the Terps on both sides of the ball. QB J. Robinson had an outstanding day, going 11 for 13 for 232 yards and 2 Touchdowns, including this 51 yarder to WR Tyler.

Tyler would finish with 3 receptions for 85 yards and 2 TDs on the day. HB Davin Meggett would be one of Marylands stars, rushing for 111 yards on 20 attempts and managing 3 touchdowns.

On defense, SS Tate would lead the team in tackles with 7, but CB Chism would find Marylands lone turnover of the day, jumping in front of Temple QB Stewarts pass for a 58 yard pick 6 to start things off for the Terps.

Clemson @ Maryland

Maryland walked into Byrd Stadium knowing this was their first real test of the season. The Clemson Tigers were no joke with Willy Korn under center and Daquan Bowers at DE, this team could challenge anyone. One thing that was not expected, was a total blowout. Maryland controlled every aspect of this game. HB Davin Meggett took home player of the game honors with 154 yards on 29 carries and 2 touchdowns, including this short scamper,

The running game couldn't have been so affective without a great passing game. WR Ronnie Tyler was the receiver of the day with 3 receptions for 118 yards and 2 TDs. A 45 yarder where he shook two would be tacklers,

But his first, a 67 yard grab will be talked for the entire season as a play of the year candidate. QB Robinson would find Tyler running a streak along the sideline and the safety came in for the tackle, only to get his ankles SHATTERED.

#8 Miami @ Maryland

Thriller in College Park

Byrd Stadium saw a classic between two of the ACCs finest teams as the 8th ranked Miami Hurricanes traveled to College Park to take on the red hot Terps. Maryland came out of the locker room sporting their all black uniforms in an attempt to black out the Canes. Miami would return an interception 76 yards to guiet the crowd early and take a 7-0 lead. Maryland QB Robinson would later find Smith to tie the game at 7 from 37 yards out. It wouldn't take Miami long as HB Chambers broke free from 25 yards away to give the Canes a 14-7 lead after 1. Miami would get the ball back and QB Jacory Harris would find star WR Travis Benjamin on a 16 yard score to take a 21-7 lead. Maryland would not go into the half down 2 scores as Robinson would hook up with TE Furstenburg from 26 yards away to pull within one of Miami's 21-14 lead. The next half of football would make the state of Maryland rumble. Miami would tack on 3, but Maryland would get the ball back and march down the field, eventually scoring from 5 yards out from HB Davin Meggett...and from there, the game was on.

A field goal by the Terps would make it a 24-24 game going into the 4th quarter. Miami would add another 3 to go upu 27-24, but Maryland would march the field and burn clock on the run. A 6 yard run by back up HB Douglas would give the Terps a 31-27 lead with 2:44 remaining. It would be plenty of time for the Hurricanes to storm the field and score on a 7 yard run by HB James with only 50 seconds remaining to go up 34-31.

Maryland would get the ball back at their own 20 and with 50 seconds and all 3 timeouts, they wanted to get into field goal range. After a 10 yard penalty, the Terps were on their own 10 and staring 90 yards to the Miami endzone. A few passes later and Maryland was on their own 48 yard line. Nearly to field goal range and with 2 timeouts and just over 20 seconds on the clock, Maryland took a shot. Robinson was pressured and the pass was lobbed deep to Mr. Clutch, WR Ronnie Tyler. The Miami defender did nothing to try and knock the ball away and with 21 seconds left, Tyler caught and walked in the go ahead Touchdown!

With 20 seconds left, Miami took shots down field, but could not get anything to happen. Maryland would go on to upset the #8 Canes with a 38-34 final. A thriller in College Park as Maryland moves to 3-0 (2-0) and goes on the road for their first game away from Byrd Stadium to take on the #17 ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Stats:
QB J. Robinson: 15 for 23 281 YDs 3 TDs 2 INTs
HB D. Meggett: 24 Atts 115 YDs 1 TD
HB G. Douglas: 12 Atts 63 YDs 1 TD
WR T. Smith: 7 Recs 113 YDs 1 TD

#20 Maryland @ #15 Wake Forest

Maryland went on the road for their first game this season. The result would not change. Maryland's run game controlled the football and the passing game scored the points. The Terps defense played great football and held Wake Forest to 10 points on the day. Quarterback Robinson had a huge day. Going 10 outta 14 for 162 yards and 3 passing TDs, he also notched a rushing TD on the day. Maryland controlled the ball for 23:39 minutes aposed to Wake's 8:44. When it came to running the ball, Maryland dominated. The Terps totaled 244 yards on the ground as Wake only managed 14 total rushing yards. HB Devin Meggett racked up 148 yards and 1 touchdown on 21 carries in the first half. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string controlled the ball throughout the entire second half, as Maryland cruised in this one 42-10.

#11 Maryland @ NC State

The Terps traveled to take on the Wolfpack of NC State this weekend, and took care of business throughout all 4 quarters. HB Davin Meggett led the team with 192 yards on 35 carries and 4 TDs rushing as the Terps put up 48 on the Wolfpack. Maryland QB Robinson added 1 passing touchdown with 174 yards on 7 of 12 completions. WR T. Smith would seal the win with a 3rd quarter kick return touchdown. The defense kept pressure on the Wolfpack and CB Chism was able to get an interception on the day. Maryland will take a week off from their ACC opponents next week as they take on the Memphis Tigers before a bye week which will be followed by an epic ACC game as Maryland travels to Tallahassee to take on the 2-time defending ACC Champions and the defending National Champion Florida State Seminoles.

(If I got the FSU championship stats wrong...my bad)

Davin Meggett and the Maryland Terps head south to Memphis, Tennessee to take care of the Tigers. Memphis wouldn't make it easy in the beginning as they would strike first and stay with Maryland until the 2nd half. Maryland outscored Memphis 22-3 in the 2nd half and would cruise to a 42-26 victory. 2 fumbles would hurt any chance Memphis had at a comeback. HB Davin Meggett would have another stellar day on the ground rushing 29 times for 176 yards and 2 TDs. Maryland looks forward to a bye week where they can prepare for the matchup of the year.

#5 Maryland @ #1 Florida St

This game was worth the hype. Both undefeated and top 5 ranked ACC foes squared off in a heated matchup that could only have 1 winner. 7 total turnovers were the deciding factor in this one. SS Kenny Tate took back the interception seen above all the way in the 2nd quarter to give Maryland a 14-0 halftime lead. FSU would comeback in the 3rd scoring on a FG and a pick 6 of their own. In the 4th it would be all Maryland. HB Douglas would punch in his 2nd TD of the day, this time from 32 yards out.

Maryland would finish the game with an interception with under 30 secs left to send Florida St to the locker room with their heads down. Maryland would go on to win 21-10 in an outstanding football game. The Terps D would hold FSU to 84 yards and 0 touchdowns rushing and forced 4 turnovers. FSU could only convert 4 of 15 3rd downs in the game.

#3 Maryland 26 @ Georgia Tech 7

The Terps would face a challenging ACC foe in the Rambling Wreck, but the defense would prevail. Maryland had a hard time converting on 3rd down which led to 4 total FGs for the Terps and 2 TDs for HB Davin Meggett. The #3 Terps, #1 in the BCS Standings, have some work to do in their bye week next week before their extremely tough finish against Boston College, than 2 tough matchups out of conference as the Crimson Tide travel to College Park week 13, and the Terps head south to take on National Championship contending Nebraska.
