Maryland @ FSU The Seminoles were able to control the game early with their running game and defense taking a 14-10 lead to the half. Receiving the ball first in the second half, FSU's coach decided to use his first half success to his advantage. The play action fake resulted in a 77 yard touchdown pass to WR Smith. The Noles defense would hold tight again forcing Maryland into a fourth and long from the 18 yard line down 21-10. The Terps coach would abuse the Noles though with a fake FG for a touchdown. Coach Colemanchu was quoted after the game " We made the stop on D. Unfortunately there is no playcall that allows us to stop the fake, hats off to coach Legend and his staff." The Noles defense would continue to play well as their run game struggled to pick up the momentum they had in the first half. Things were made worse by "quarterback" EJ Manuels inability to put passes into open areas and extend drives. Maryland was able to shut down FSu's offense in the second half and secure a 24-21 victory to give them inside track at the ACC championship game. FSU is left to play the role of spoiler, and with little depth on the roster will be in that position for the next couple years to come.
