Coach Akai and the Michigan State football family presents its 2012 Recruiting Class: Antoine was recruited at TE, but due to having no FBs on our roster, we converted him to FB. He would have played at TE as a freshman, but we really think he can blossom as a FB and will see the field from day one. John McKenzie is also a converted TE that we feel will give us depth at the position. Ralph comes in ready to play both as a blocker and pass-catcher being a JUCO transfer. Along with Antoine Archie, he will be that second/third TE for us. Justin was a great pick-up for us and we expect him to be our Left Tackle of the future. He may be redshirted this year, due to depth at the position. We see Nick Fowler developing into a dominating run-blocker. However, due to depth, he will be redshirted this year Steven’s has great athleticism and good throwing ability. Jonathan is not nearly as athletic as Steven, but he’s got a hell-of-an-arm and has great accuracy for his age. Steven seems a little more ready to play after spring ball and will be our 3rd QB - Jonathan will be redshirted. While we did not actively recruit in-season for a RB due to our depth, once Edwin Baker decided to go pro, we tested the waters and found a great back in Jeremy Brown. He’s got track speed and good moves. He’s still a bit raw as a runner and will be redshirted. Andrew’s a tremendous athlete for the position and we see him dominating inside in a few years. He’s got great moves and is quite strong for his size. Now Brett is a little more of a project, but we believe once he comes into our program he will be able to fill into the position and be a contributor for us. Both Andrew and Brett will redshirt this year. Both Nick and Scott will be redshirted this year due to our depth. Nick has great size and speed and we feel that we’ll be able to match him up against the other team’s top receiver. Scott is a hard-worker and hoping that he will improve enough so that he can be a key contributor in a few years. I think we really got a great player here in Luis. He’s got great coverage ability and good speed. He’ll need to work on his football knowledge, but the redshirt will help him with that. We’re really looking forward to Travis becoming our go-to receiver out of the slot. He’s got great hands and great route-running ability for his age. Ryan has some good moves and will really give us depth. Both players will redshirt this year. Jeremy gives depth at punter this year and will have the position to himself of all of next year. He will redshirt this year.
