Last night Dillon Gee was able to shake off a rusty start and hold on for his first victory of this young season. With the win the Mets improved to 3-1 while the Padres dropped to 3-3.

The Padres jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, mainly due to suspect defense, but the Mets would tie it in the 4th highlighted by Wright's first dinger of the season, a solo bast to center, and back to back doubles by Duda and Davis.

It was the Padres turn to play shoddy defense as the Mets took the lead on an E-6 in the 6th. The Mets would tack on a couple of insurance runs in the 8th which were needed because owner OhDaesu19 is notorious for blowing big leads late. Francisco was able to secure the save but not before allowing the tying runner to the plate thanks to a single and HBP.

NeuroticTruth great game...you're a class act and this series has been a blast so far. Looking forward to the conclusion of this wierd 4 game opening series against a west coast team.

Same to you man, it definitely has been fun.

That being said, I wont be disappointed if I never have to play at Citi Field again for a while :p.

Last night's pitching duel between the Padres and the Mets was defined by three bad pitches:
    1. Davis takes a Volquez high fastball over the wall in right center, 1-0 Mets.
    2. Top 7th Headley crushes a Harvey low fast ball over the center field fence, 2-1 Padres.
    3. Bottom 8th, two outs, two on Wright deposits a hanging slider by reliever de los Santos deep into the left field seats, 4-2 Mets.

Other than that, offense was hard to come by. Actually the one pitch that NeuroticTruth would want back the most was the wild pitch to Thome that allowed Cowgill to advance to second because later on in Thome's at bat he hit a rocket right at the 2B that would have been an easy inning ending double play.

NeuroticTruth great series! Like you told me before the game....good luck and have fun....well I was very lucky but more importantly win or lose I had a ton of fun.

In both games last night it took the Mets late inning heroics to pull out victories.

In the first game, Atlanta was criusing along leading 5-1 entering the 9th. The Mets had men on base all game long but as usual could not get that big hit with RISP until a critical error opened the door. Cowgill led off the 9th with a single and that brought in nasty closer Kimbrel. He would induce what should have been an easy 5-4-3 double play but Rolen made an errant throw into RF. The Mets would push a run across and then eventually load the bases. Wright at the plate, who just missed a walk off last game, struck out on a nasty 1-2 low slider. With two outs Duda comes thru with a huge bases clearing double to right center to tie the game up at 5. The game would go into extra innings where young stud Teheran, in the top of the 11th, would hang a curve that Wright deposited over the left center field wall for a 6-5 lead.

Diddy81 great game and good luck the rest of the way! I was lucky on the error .

In the night cap the Mets and Rockies had an epic battle going back and forth all game long. The Rox struck early scoring 2 in the first, the Mets eventually took a 3-2, powered by a 2 rbi Duda double. Well the Rockies regain the lead thanks to a 2 run double by SP Nicasio to make 4-3. In the top of the 5th the Mets would plate a run to tie the game up at 4 and it would stay that way till Cuddyer jacked a hanging slider into the stands in the bottom of the 8th to give the Rockies a 5-4 lead. Betancourt would come in to close in the 9th but gave up back to back singles to start the inning. After Duda whiffed, Ike Davis hits a 3 run homer to give the Mets a 7-5 lead.
