Michigan signs their 1st recruit of 2011 in :3stars: C (#32) Cole Wallace out of Bellaire, Texas. This is a need position for the Wolverines and this guy is likely just going to be a bench warmer but he is an average blocker right now. After a few years to progress he may see some PT later in his career.

Also, during week 2, Michigan signed their first :5stars: recruit of the season. More news on this to come next week...

Michigan signs the highest ranked recruit of coach Jello's tenure with :5stars: Tyler Harris. Harris is the #1 CB in the land and the ESPNU's 13th ranked player overall. He has good size, standing 6'1, 185 and will do well in jump balls with his B+ jump rating. What stands out most about Harris is his A+ speed and B+ acceleration so we won't have to worry about receivers out running him. Unlike a lot of blazing fast corners, Harris is also a very solid cover guy with B man coverage, B+ zone coverage, and B- press ratings. On top of all of that, he also has a C- catch rating which is great for a corner and not bad for a receiver. Given his speed and catching ability, Harris may even see time @ receiver for the Wolverines during his career.

Michigan signed their 3rd player of this class in ESPNU150 :4stars:T(#6) Jay Hale from Michigan. Michigan beat out MSU for this kid as well as Oklahoma State who inexplicably tried to enter the state of Michigan and battle the 2 big home state schools for him. Hale has good burst off the ball and is an excellent run blocker so it's easy to see why he was on coach Jello's radar. "Hale is a decent pass blocker, but when you've got a home state lineman that can run block like this kid, there's no way that I'm letting him get away" said coach Jello when asked to comment.

This was a big week for Michigan recruiting as they received 4 hard commits and 6 soft commits, including 7 ESPNU150 guys. The hard commits are as follows:
:3stars: G(#34) Mike Hunter from California. Mike, along with another recruit will rebuild Michigan's pipeline to California. He is very average in everything that he does and will likely be a lifelong backup.

:4stars: DE(#8) Mark Carlson, also from California. Mark solidies the California pipeline and will be a solid player throughout his career. If we also sign the :5stars: kid that has given us a soft commit, these 2 will make some very solid bookends in the future. Carlson has great pursuit and good block shedding. Most importantly, he has very good power and finesse moves. It's difficult to find ends that can either swim around a blocker or bull rush through him as most can only do 1 or the other so this combo should make Carlson a solid pass rusher.

:4stars: DT(#7) Sam Anderson out of Michigan. Anderson is the #2 ranked player in the state of Michigan and the kind of guy that we don't want to have escape our grasp. He has decent, but not great size standing 6'5, 274, and he'll be a stud before his days are over at Michigan. He could start as a FR with his A pursuit, B- STR, B+ power moves, finesse moves, and block shedding. Anderson will be an even more impressive pass rusher/run stopper than Mark Carlson.

:4stars: QB(#8) Dwayne Morris from Michigan. Morris gives us the top 4 recruits from the state of Michigan and is the kind of system guy that we need. He'll never be a stud and will hopefully never start, but he'll be a very capable backup to Devin Gardner once he takes over the show.

Michigan gets 3 more commits which leaves them with 4 more schollies available with 4 soft commits still withstanding.

:4stars: T(#17) Chris Johnson from Michigan. We added this kid to our board midway through the year and stole him away from Michigan State in the process. This kid is slower'n molasses but he's a very good run blocker and will definitely see time @ tackle down the road.

:4stars: TE(#2) Brian Cobbs from Louseeanna. Cobbs is listed as a blocking TE, but he's very solid all around and will make a nice addition to both our running game and passing game.

:4stars: WR(#8) Roger Jones from Texass. Jones has good speed and has solid all around receiving skills. He joins an extremely deep WR corps so it'll be a while before he can work his way up the ranks.

Jones and Cobbs are both ESPU150 guys (ESPU100 guys, really) and gives Michigan 7 of 10 recruits that are in the top 100 in the country.
