Michigan Upset in Home Opener 20-14
    [IMG]
Unable to shake off a very slow start, the 11th-ranked Wolverines fall to #16 Stanford. QB Jon Huff and the Michigan never really got anything going with only 146 yards of total offense and turning the ball over 3 times, but the defense played fairly well and made some big plays to give the Wolverines a chance for the win. Unfortunately for Michigan, Huff was definitely in the Christmas spirit and seemed to throw a pick every time the defense made a big stop. Heading into the Half, Stanford held a 14-0 lead but Michigan showed their first signs of life as CB Dustin Bryan picked off Stanford QB Joel Schultz on their first possession of the 2nd Half and returned it 48 yards for a TD. Later in the 4th, the Michigan offense finally put together a scoring drive and pulled to within 3 points after a 33-yard one-handed TD catch by WR Sterling Edwards. However, the comeback attempt would fall short as Huff was intercepted twice in the final 3 minutes.
Next, Michigan looks to bounce back when they host the Commodores of Vanderbilt.
    Stanford
    QB Joel Schultz - 13/21, 125 YDS, INT, 5 RUSH, 19 YDS
HB Chad Patrick - 23 RUSH, 136 YDS, TD
WR Ray Moore - 4 REC, 34 YDS
OLB - Charles Bennett - 3 TKLS, SCK
    Michigan
QB Jon Huff - 8/15, 88 YDS, TD, 3 INT
HB Samson Whitworth - 14 RUSH, 65 YDS
WR Sterling Edwards - 3 REC, 54 YDS, TD
OLB Ed Rust - 4 TKLS, SCK, FF

    Michigan Bounces Back
    Blows By Vanderbilt 45-21
    [IMG]
One week after a poor performance in their home opener, Michigan came out firing on all cylinders from the opening snap. On the Commodores' opening first possession, Sophomore LB Micah Walker jumped on an ill-advised option fumble and one play later QB Jon Huff hit WR Sterling Edwards from 29 yards out to take a 7-0 lead. By the end of the 1st, the Wolverines had jumped out to a 21-0 lead and the rout was on. At Halftime, Michigan lead 35-7 and Vanderbilt was forced to abandon their running game in the 2nd Half. QB Huff seemed to have no recollection of last week's dismal performance as he earned Player of the Game honors while throwing for 315 yards and 5 TDs.
Next, Michigan goes on the road to open Big Ten play vs #7 Wisconsin.
    Vanderbilt
    QB Terrance Walker - 35/50, 414 YDS, 2 TDs, 2 INTs
WR Bryan Holt - 7 REC, 112 YDS
WR Steve Tatum - 7 REC, 106 YDS, TD
DT Tyrone Thomas - 2 TKLS, SCK
    Michigan
QB Jon Huff - 15/25, 315 YDS, 5 TDs, INT
HB Samson Whitworth - 20 RUSH, 88 YDS

WR Matt Donaldson - 6 REC, 110 YDS, 2 TDs

    Michigan Bounces Back Again
    Demolishes Purdue 42-10
    [IMG]
After two tough losses in as many weeks against the likes of Wisconsin and Notre Dame, Michigan finally got the chance to vent their frustration at the expense of the Boilermakers. QB Jon Huff shook off 2 early picks to throw for two touchdowns and HB Samson Whitworth ran for 2 touchdowns of his own, but the star of the game had to be Junior WR Matt Donaldson. After Purdue had taken a 10-7 lead early in the 2nd Quarter, Donaldson took the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a TD and Michigan never looked back while outscoring the Boilermakers 28-0 the rest of the way.
Next, Michigan looks to pull to .500 when they go on the road to face Rutgers.
    Purdue
    QB Wesley Horne - 5/16, 78 YDS, INT, 18 RUSH, 49 YDS
HB Kyle Schroeder - 10 RUSH, 62 YDS, TD
OLB Leonard Cook - 5 TKLS, SCK
    Michigan
    QB Jon Huff - 16/21, 283 YDS, 2 TD, 2 INT
    HB Samson Whitworth - 16 RUSH, 56 YDS, 2 TD, 3 REC, 50 YDS
WR Matt Donaldson - 3 REC, 113 YDS, 2 TD, 3 KR, 150 YDS, TD

    Wolverines Survive!
Outlast Rutgers in 3 OT Thriller 42-40
    [IMG]
Michigan improves to 3-3, but not without almost making their coach go into cardiac arrest! The Wolverines' defense struggled to stop the Scarlet Knights all game long and Michigan only clung to a 14-13 lead at the Half. Rutgers looked to pull off the upset after QB Timothy Gonzales hit WR BJ McKinley from 42 yards out to take a 21-14 lead. The Knights would increase their lead to a commanding 24-14 advantage after a 24-yard FG early in the 4th. Fortunately for Michigan, QB Jon Huff showed some veteran leadership leading the offense on a quick scoring drive to pull to within a FG with over 4 minutes remaining. With a little momentum, the Michigan defense was able to make a rare stop and K Tommy Cook nailed a 32-yard FG as time expired to send it into overtime. In the first extra session, both teams traded FGs and then Rutgers QB Gonzales hit WR Joel Jackson from 10 yards out to take a touchdown lead, but the Wolverines quickly answered with a 6-yard TD strike from Huff to send it into a 3rd overtime. On a 1st and Goal, HB Samson Whitworth pushed his way into the endzone and took the pitch on the very next play to convert the 2-pt conversion, but it was not over yet. The Knights got their shot in the 3rd extra period as Gonzales once again hit McKinley for another TD, but HB Jason Lane was stuffed on a toss play and their 2-pt attempt fell 3 yards short to end the game. WR Matt Donaldson received Player of the Game honors with another monster performance.
Next, Michigan will travel to Lansing to face the hated Spartans in 2 weeks.
    Michigan
QB Jon Huff - 20/31, 334 YDS, 5 TD, INT

Wolverines Give One Away in East Lansing
    [IMG]
In front of a hostile crowd at hated Michigan State, Michigan failed to show up early on and their 2nd Half comeback attempt fell short to drop them back to below .500 with a 24-17 loss. The Spartans jumped out to a 14-0 lead behind TD passes by QB Zach Nealy, and Michigan looked very inept on both sides of the ball until QB Jon Huff hit WR Andre Kaplan with 73-yard TD bomb to cut the lead to 7 heading into Halftime. With momentum on their side, the Wolverines quickly tied it in the 3rd with a 56-yard TD catch by WR Matt Donaldson and the two teams would trade field goals by about the midway point of the 4th. Michigan State benefited from a highly questionable call on 3rd and Long pass play that was ruled a catch even though the receiver did not seemed to land a foot in bounds, and they eventually scored the game-winning TD with 1:45 remaining. QB Huff was able to lead the Michigan offense near the red zone, but 3 straight errant throws ended their chances.
Next, the Wolverines look to get things back on track when they welcome Minnesota to the Big House.
    Michigan
    QB Jon Huff - 10/25, 252 YDS, 2 TD, 2 INT
HB Samson Whitworth - 16 RUSH, 34 YDS

Standout WR Matt Donaldson scored 2 TDs on special teams and the Michigan defense had an inspired performance as they got back on the winning track against rival Minnesota. QB Jon Huff opened up the scoring on their 2nd play from scrimmage, hitting WR Sterling Edwards on a 60 yard strike to take a 7-0 lead early in the 1st. Minnesota would answer later in the 2nd after converting a short FG attempt, but they would not be able to build any momentum as Donaldson took the ensuing kickoff 97 yards for a TD to make it 14-3. The Wolverines took a 21-10 lead into Halftime, and pretty much sealed the win with another TD catch by Edwards and Donaldson's 2nd TD when he returned a missed FG attempt 108 yards to make it 35-10 late in the 3rd.
    Minnesota
    QB John Hodges - 14/19, 125 YDS, 20 RUSH, 20 YDS

QB Jon Huff threw for 2 touchdowns and the defense continued their strong play as the Wolverines pick up their 2nd straight win with a 24-10 upset over Nebraska. Michigan opened up a 7-0 lead late in the 1st when Huff hit WR Sterling Edwards from 23 yards out, but the Huskers would answer back in the 2nd with a short FG after the Michigan defense made a solid goal line stand. Unfortunately for Nebraska, they would not get on the scoreboard again until early in the 4th. The Wolverines secured momentum going into Halftime when Huff hit WR Andre Kaplan with an 83-yard bomb as time expired to make the score 14-3. Michigan would seal a much needed victory when MLB James James snatched an option pitch out of the air and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown to give the Wolverines a commanding 24-3 lead as time expired in the 3rd. OLB Ed Rust received Player of the Game honors with 5 tackles and 3 sacks.
Next, Michigan looks to secure at least a Bowl berth when they host the Wildcats of Northwestern.

    Wolverines Shutout Northwestern 31-0
    [IMG]
Michigan overcame an early injury to QB Jon Huff and the defense completely shutdown the Wildcats to secure at least a chance at a bowl berth and stay in contention for a spot in the Big Ten Championship. With game scoreless early in the 1st, Huff went down with a foot contusion after getting sacked which put him out for the remainder of the game and brought in backup QB Mike Lloyd. Lloyd didn't seem to feel any pressure by taking over the offense as he threw for 183 yards and 2 touchdowns. HB Samson Whitworth was Player of the Game as he pounded the Wildcats all day long to the tune of 189 yards and 2 touchdowns. For the first time all season, the Wolverines' defense held an opponent to less than 200 total yards and twice stopped the Wildcats on 4th Down deep in the red zone.
Next, the Wolverines go on the road to face #11 Iowa.
    Northwestern
    QB Q Johnson - 8/13, 63 YDS

    Thriller in Iowa
Michigan Comeback Falls Short in OT 55-52
    [IMG]
Wow...what a way to decide 1st Place in the B1G Legends Division! After falling behind 31-7 in the 2nd Quarter, the Wolverines needed a furious comeback to attempt to force overtime but fell just short of the upset when Iowa QB Alex Hill hit WR Mike Morton in the corner of the end zone in the 1st OT period after holding Michigan to a FG. With the win, Iowa punches their ticket for the B1G Championship Game and Michigan looks forward to next week's matchup with the hated Buckeyes. The Wolverines had a rough start when Iowa CB Matt Cameron returned a pick 74 yards for a TD, but Michigan finally got on the scoreboard in the 2nd to make it 14-7. After the Hawkeyes answered back to give them a 14-point lead, Michigan WR Matt Donaldson fumbled the ensuing kickoff but the defense was able to hold Iowa to a FG to make it a 24-7 deficit. In the final minute of the half, both teams traded touchdowns twice as they combined for 45 points in the 2nd Quarter with Iowa leading 38-21 at Halftime.
In the 2nd Half, the Michigan offense came out firing on all cylinders while scoring back-to-back touchdowns before Iowa added a FG at the end of the 3rd to make it a 6-point game heading into the 4th. The Wolverines would take their first and only lead of the game early in the 4th when WR Sterling Edwards caught a 54-yard bomb to make it 42-41 with over 4 minutes remaining. With just :24 remaining in regulation, Iowa HB Darrell Robinson scored the seemingly game-winning TD from 3 yards out, but Michigan WR Donaldson got his redemption as he took the ensuing kickoff 98 yards to send the game into OT.
Michigan was held to only a FG in their only possession of overtime, and Iowa QB Hill found WR Morton in the corner of the endzone to seal the victory for the Hawkeyes.
    Michigan
    QB Jon Huff - 12/18, 422 YDS, 5 TD, 2 INT
HB Samson Whitworth - 28 RUSH, 136 YDS, TD

Wolverines Hold Off West Virginia 31-21
    [IMG]
WR Matt Donaldson had a monster performance and the Michigan defense was able to hold off the Mountaineers just enough to secure a 10 point win in the 2017 Insight Bowl. On their 2nd play of the game, QB Jon Huff hit Donaldson with a 64 yard bomb that would set the tone for a big play day for the Michigan offense. However, West Virginia would not just roll over and answered back with two back-to-back touchdowns to take a 7 point lead early in the 2nd. The Wolverines tied it back up at 14 heading into Halftime after another TD bomb to Donaldson, this time for 74 yards. After a lackluster 1st Half, the Michigan defense came alive and held West Virginia scoreless in the 3rd as the Wolverines had opened up a 10 point lead heading to the final period.
After a 1 yard scoring toss by West Virginia QB Richard Washington to cut the lead to 3 with just under 5 minutes remaining, Michigan's power running attack was able to milk the clock and HB Samson Whitworth put the game out of reach with a 2 yard TD run with less than 2 minutes remaining.
    West Virginia
    QB Richard Washington - 25/35, 263 YDS, 3 TD
WR Terry McKenzie - 9 REC, 139 YDS
