At the halfway point in the season, the Dolphins are a somewhat surprising 7-1 and tied for 1st place in the AFC EAST, heading to a showdown this week with the 7-1 Patriots.

Offense Rank 6th Overall 4th in Rushing, 14th in passing (including bye week)

Offensively, the Dolphins have lit up the score board, 3rd in scoring, and tied for 1st in rushing TDs, they are also 1st in 3rd down conversions.

QB -- Flacco has had a much better year so far, he has over 2000 yards receiving and 20 TDs so far this season versus 11 INTs. Grade - A-

HB -- Lamar Miller leads the league in rushing with 1166 yards and 12 TDs and this second year pro is in talks for the MVP. He has great vision, a great spin move, and just will not give up!! Grade -- A+

WR/TE -- Rookie Harold Clowney is a solid rookie of the year candidate and steal of the draft. He leads the league is yards per game and is tied for the lead league in TDs. Fellow rookie TE Dudzik has over 645 yards so far this year, but has only found the endzone twice. James Jones and Devone Bess has combined for 5 TDs and 500 yards. Grade -- A

OL -- the online has only yielded 3 sacks, and has opened up running lanes galore for Miller, a solid if unspectacular group, but getting the job done. Grade -- B

Defensively, the Dolphins rank 4 is total yard allowed, and 2nd in total points allowed, to their rival Patriots. However, they have only created 10 turnovers, a very low number that puts them in the bottom of the league in Turnover Differential.

DL -- Jared Odrick has 13 sacks and 19 TFL so far this season, putting him amond the lead leaders, in fact, all the dolphins sacks have come from the DL, 26 in total, in a defense that does not blitz much (or with little success). However, this team is 1st in run defense, so lets give the front four a grade of -- A

LB -- Rookie Hamilton-Lecky is second on the team in tackles, and is the point man in the defense. Aging Karlos Dansby is 3rd in tackles, overall though this unit needs to creat fumbles and big plays. Grade -- B-

DB -- Newcomer Kenny Phillips leads the team in tackles and seems to be everywhere the ball is, the CBs Marshall and smith, and nickel back Shields have 6 Ints combined. But they are still weak to the big play. FS chris clemons has been average at best. Grade C

K/P -- Dan Carpenter is 9/9 on field goals and Brandon Fields averages just under 40 yards a kick, solid numbers by both. Grade A-

KR/PR -- Only one return for a TD this year, combined average of about 29 yards per return, meh..... average. Grade -- B

Overall -- The rookies on this team are making a big impact, 2nd year HB Miller is on a record pace for yards, and Flacco is leading this team to victory. Defensively everyone is contributing, and you cannot run on this defense. Hopefully the Fins can continue their winning ways and secure a AFC east title and hopefully more.
