If given the chance, the Vikings prefer to run the ball
They will use Adrian Peterson extensively, running both inside and outside
In the passing game, will look for Percy Harvin and the tight end first before looking at other options
Will utilize the fullback to run the ball
Likes to pass on third and short
Incorporates a 3 TE, 1 WR, 1 RB set in which he will run wide or look for the short pass to one of the TEs
Likes to crowd the line of scrimmage and stop the run
Mixes coverage but will run more zone
Secondary is deficient and can be beat if you have time to throw
Not a big blitzer
Offense --Run first. Rotates the ball between his running backs, but in the end its all about Peterson. Once the run is established, look for the play action pass, on any down/any situation. When the ball comes out, its going to a tight end or running back. Only 3 completions, out of 15, went to wide receivers. On 3rd down and obvious passing situation, there's a good chance he will run either a HB screen pass or deep comeback. On 3rd and short expect a fullback dive.
Defense -- Plays almost exclusively man. Plays straight up on first down and blitzes on second. In obvious passing situations, he will drop 7 or 8 guys into man coverage without a spy on the QB. Rodgers had almost 70 yards rushing because of this. He will blitz on 3rd and short.
