Week 9: Miss St. vs. UAB

    Miss St. 49 UAB 20

It was a wet miserable day in Starkville Mississippi on Saturday, but the Bulldogs were determined to pull one out and become bowl eligible. Overall, it was a good day to be a Bulldog from Mississippi who plan to build on this win, learn from the plays that worked and improve on the ones that didn't.

The ground game was big today and carried the O all day. The passing game was inconsistent but maybe the rain played a factor their as several catchable balls were dropped on key plays. Two turnovers didn't help matters either, but they were offset by two turnovers from UAB as well.

It was a great win today, the team learned a lot about themselves and will look to topple Alabama next week. A tall task, but one the team will prepare for this week with plenty of film study and game-planning.

Week 10: Alabama vs. Miss St.

    Miss St. 38 Alabama 31

It was one for the ages in Starkville this Saturday as the Bulldogs upset #1 Alabama in OT 38 - 31. It was the biggest win in the Dan Mullen era at Miss St.

Coach Mullen, "We were down 17 - 7 at half-time and we went into the locker room a little disappointed with ourselves. We beat ourselves in that first half with turnovers. SR QB Chris Relf was struggling but our defense was playing great except for one or two big playes by that great 'Bama offense. I just kept tellin' the guys how we were still in the game we just needed to execute our game plan and play within ourselves. We did that and the ball bounced our way a few times in the second half. 'Bama's fumble in the red zone was huge for us. This was a great win, a win this team needed and deserved!"

Miss St. was led on offense by SR QB Chris Relf with 15-49 passing for 379 yards with three picks. SOPH WR Michael Carr with 9 catches for 299 yards and 2 TD. On defense, the Bulldogs were led by SR LE Sean Ferguson with 11 tackles, 5 TFL, and 3 sacks.
