I'd take your contract any day. Fortunately for the Yankees (Brandon S. ) they have a 250M budget, so why not outbid everyone by a mile for the ones you want.
Thankfully I have a large budget and it's like we are paying him $15 mil/year. We still are stuck with this contract for another two years
2026 International Player Roundup SP Oliver "Honker" Medina Signed in 2023 for $170,000 out of Cuba SP Zhao-Ji "Tricky" Ran Signed for $1,500,000 out of Taiwan in 2022 MR Julio Rivera Signed for $1,500,000 out of Cuba in 2022 SP Jamie Ordonez Signed for $200,000 out of Puerto Rico in 2023 MR Don Oglethorpe Signed for $65,000 out of USA in 2021 (via Nippon)
2026/2027 Off-Season Tiger would like to welcome C Gabriel 'Pimpa' Mendez to the organization. Mendez comes out of the Dominican league as a International FA and is the second top international signing for the Tigers. Mendez joins Rosa who was the #1 international pitching FA this off-season. These are two positions that the Tigers were targeting this off-season and looking forward to the 2027 campaign with these two taking starters roles immediately. The Tigers signed Mendez to a 7 year deal that will pay him $12,000,000 his first year and $15,000,000 for the following 6 years.
2026/2027 Off-Season Tigers are happy to announce the signing of 2B/SS Jurdao Vob. The Tigers plan to start Vob at short stop to begin the 2027 season, taking over for the woeful Javier Martinez. Although Martinez is one of the best defensive middle infielders in MLB, he simply could not hit a beach ball last year and lead the team in strike-outs by a mile. Vob demonstrates complete opposite skill set at the plate and has produced great OBP his entire career. He is also a right-handed pull hitter, who normally succeed in Comerica. Tigers are hopeful Vob will provide a shot in the arm to the offense.
Gave Vob a 1/$7 deal to try and hold down the SS this year. So far, so good. He spent the majority of the season on the DL and hence why he wasn't resigned. Not ideal for a contract year
2027 International Player Inside Look SP Oliver "Honker" Medina Signed in 2023 for $170,000 out of Cuba TRADED TO MIAMI SP Zhao-Ji "Tricky" Ran Signed for $1,500,000 out of Taiwan in 2022 Ran has a ++ sinker with good movement that may make him a valuable asset moving forward. MR Julio Rivera Signed for $1,500,000 out of Cuba in 2022 Ironically another pitcher with a nasty sinker with ++ movement. In AA now and could be in AAA by the end of the year depending on control issues. SP Jamie Ordonez Signed for $200,000 out of Puerto Rico in 2023 Not sure what we have here, if anything. A flyball pitcher with groundball pitches. Not sure how long he can continue to post good numbers. MR Don Oglethorpe Signed for $65,000 out of USA in 2021 (via Nippon) ** No control to speak of and will likely be cut before the year is over. No need for a 35 control MR at this point. SP Ricardo "Zombie" Marquez Signed for $95,000 out of Puerto Rico in 2026 Will be our next focus player as he has been moved into rookie ball to begin 2027
July 11, 2025 Taking a look on we were rank, compared to other teams in the AL, things are progressing for the club. We started the season with what is the worst record for the Tigers in a 30-day period, going 8-18 in April. With many new faces to the Detroit line-up it took the guys around 30 games to begin to gel. June was a very good month for a team that still significantly struggles in extra-base hits. We ranked last in runs scored for most of the season but have been supported by what has turned out to be a great bullpen. Currently ranked #2 by era, #1 for earlier parts of the season, the new faces of Castillo (from BAL in a trade) and Lex Rutledge (FA from SD) should both be in the All-Star game. Combined with potential rookie of the year in (R) MR Ray Hughes, who has been brilliant in the set-up role. Hughes has a 2.61 era and 165 era+. We have also seen one of the more pleasant surprises in break-out Rookie of the Year candidate in CF Carlos Ramos. He does not have spectacular skill set but has played way beyond all expectations for the club. He's played in 38 games now and is hitting .391/.441/.580 with an OPS of 1.020. He has really been the fuel the offense needed to get firing and climb out of the terrible start of the season. Can we make it to .500 this year??? Well, if we could stop getting killed on the DL by the simmers and keep an infield together for more than one sim at a time, maybe. The pitching staff is doing their jobs allowing the 5th least runs scored in the AL. Batting MVP (R) CF Carlos Ramos Pitching MVP (R) SP Jesus Rosa
Trade News Detroit shipped two of it's middle tier pitching prospects to strengthen the outfield position that has been under-preforming this season. Yi comes to the Tigers from Miami Blaza where he was not fully living up to his abilities. The right-handed, pull hitter got Detroit's attention with his OBP and speed while being able to cover the cavernous outfield in Comerica. Righties also perform well in Detroit. So far we are happy with his performance in the Old English D and hope he can help carry us to that coveted .500 record we so desperately need.
Good fit in Detroit? Rule V draft pick from Tampa a couple years ago who was obviously not MLB ready. He had a decent year in AAA this year closing it out with a couple back 2 back suspension. Come back from a 7 game suspension and get another 9 game suspension on your next start?
2027 Season Recap Came up short, again. Luckily, we progressed over last year so for management the minimal record next year will need to 77-85 to stay employed. The offense struggled to play small ball with too many slow players on the roster. Without any ability to hit a home run, last in the AL, we struggled to manufacture runs the hard way finishing 12th in the AL. Expect some significant changes again in Detroit. With a lot of players hitting arbitration this off-season management is prepared to let A LOT of these players walk. Season Batting MVP Season Pitching MVP Rookie of the Year
2028 International Player Inside Look SP Zhao-Ji "Tricky" Ran Signed for $1,500,000 out of Taiwan in 2022 Good number thus far in his career. Is in the next spot to move into a MR at the MLB level MR Julio Rivera Signed for $1,500,000 out of Cuba in 2022 Another AAA MR who is poised for his call-up. He still has some more development left but at 22, has one of the most devastating sinkers in the game SP Jamie Ordonez Signed for $200,000 out of Puerto Rico in 2023 So far Ordonez has managed to out pitch his ratings. All movement pitches have allowed him to post good numbers. MR Don Oglethorpe Signed for $65,000 out of USA in 2021 (via Nippon) No control and pitches in front of worst defense in AAA. Hard to decipher the production here. SP Lou-Shan 'Beagle' Tse Signed for $175,000 out of Australia in 2023 Has 4 + pitches and looks as though he needs to move to MR. After 18 starts his era is 5.22 in low A SP Ricardo "Zombie" Marquez Signed for $95,000 out of Puerto Rico in 2026 Had a good year in Rookie ball but has gotten off to a rough start in Short A. MR Quentin Annoni Signed for $90,000 out of Venezuela in 2026 Young pup in just making his first appearances in rookie ball this season. 1B Tae-Hyang Yi Signed for $90,000 out of South Korea in 2026 Also making his start in rookie ball this year
Finally able to snap KDP streak of rookie league titles with 35 yr old AAAA players + full tank mode We'll consider that a good draft class to begin the next 5 year reign of terror
Actually all my rookie dudes are under 22 pretty much, my entire pitching staff is and a ton of my hitters, sucks I lost Alvarez for the rest of the year before the playoffs.
2028 Season Recap Batter of the Year SS Juan Tejada Pitcher of the Year SP Norm Wood Rookie of the Year MR Dustin Wheeler
Big thanks to the new GM/Owner for Miami redwings8831 for help clearing my unproductive slouches off my 40-man
In search for a big bat to add to the Tigers line-up, the organization is looking within to begin with and call-up the International League (AAA) top batter of the year 1B Jose Ramos. With a 6.6 WAR this season following 4.6 WAR last year, there is now an opening in the Detroit line-up where we can give Ramos the chance to continue to production and make a name for himself in the big leagues.
