    National Championship Game

    #2 Cincinnati (Cimmy24) v #1 Maryland (Runthepound)

In one of the best National Championship games NCAA Football has ever seen, the Cincinnati Bearcats come on top over the Maryland Terps 38-35 in a game that came down to the last second. This game was intense from the opening kickoff. Cincinnati would drive the field, but would lose possession in Maryland territory after a fumble. The Terps would methodically move down the field and score on a 2 yard run by FB Watson who would have many important conversions for the Terps throughout. Cincy would get the ball back and take their time moving the ball down the field and scoring in the 2nd quarter on a 10 yard run by HB Pead. Meggett would score for the Terps on the next possession, and after a forced punt, Watson would punch in another score, giving the Terps a 21-7 lead with 2:35 left in the 2nd half. The Bearcats wouldn't kneel, as QB Collaros found WR Binns open on a fly for a 35 yard strike, pulling within 7. Maryland would try to put up another one, but would be denied on an interception by the FS Frey. The Bearcats would use the field position and score again on a 14 yard pass from Collaros to Barnett, sending the two teams to the locker rooms tied at 21.

The second half would be a whole new game. Maryland would receive the ball and score on a 1 yard QB keeper to go up 28-21 with 3:28 left in the 3rd. With another deficit to face, the Bearcats would not back down with the National Championship on the line. Collaros would lead his team down the field and thread the needle to find WR Barnett on a huge 3rd down play from the Maryland 10...

In the 4th, Maryland HB Meggett would punch in a 1 yard scamper giving Maryland a 35-28 lead. Cincy would put on another drive, but could only manage a field goal with 4:10 remaining. After holding the Terps and forcing a punt, Cincy would start the ball inside their own 10. After fighting their way out of the hostility of their own endzone, Cincy would take their time marching the field and burning the clock. With 1 minute left in the game HB Goebel would find the endzone from 5 yards out giving Cincy a 38-35 lead. The Terps would have time and with just seconds left found themselves inside the Bearcats 40 yard line. Not looking to go into overtime, the Terps would try one more shot at the endzone. QB Robinson dropped back, the OLine covered the blitz, Robinson threw, the pass was caught at the 7, but the Bearcat defender would drag the receiver down at the 3 yard line as the final second ticked off the clock! Sealing the game for the Bearcats 38-35!

QB Zach Collaros would be named player of the game after going 21 for 30 with 381 yards and 3 TDs with no picks, a QB rating of 209.6. WR Armon Binns would bring in 5 receptions for 98 yards and a TD. HB Pead rushed the ball 20 times for 82 yards and a TD. For the defense, FS Frey came away with 7 tackles and 2 interceptions.

    Great game RTP!
