Sorry for the delay on this first one. Had to get on with this training trip to Wisconsin. Anyway, on with the summary:

    NC State @ Texas Tech

NC State came into this one pretty evenly matched, but still holding hopes of bringing the ACC/Big XII challenge to even. The Wolfpack lost the toss and ended up receiving. The Pack put together a solid drive, but stalled inside the 10 and had to settle for a FG. On Tech's first possession, an early INT gave NCSU the ball back with a short field. TE Mario Carter got open over the middle a couple plays later for a 31 yard TD from Glennon. 10-0 NCSU. The teams traded punts for a bit until NC State was able to get another drive going. Again, Glennon found Carter for his second TD of the game. With 1:44 left in the half, it was 17-0 Pack. It looked like maybe NC State would just cruise in this one, until they gave up the huge 62 yard TD to Tech. 44 seconds left in the half and NC State got the ball back with solid field position. Coach Parrothead thought maybe he could get a FG out of the position but Glennon throws a pick. With 10 seconds left, TT was able to put it again. Halftime score was 17-14, NC State.

Solid D came to play again, and the third quarter only saw a Texas Tech field goal. Going into the 4th, it's 17 all.

NC State was able to get another drive and punch it in with HB Washington to take a touchdown lead. After holding Tech and getting a punt back, State drove down the field, but had to settle for the FG. It's now 27-17 with 2:12 to go. Tech struck with some quick passes, taking advantage of the open space the defensive backs were giving. With 1:27 left, Tech scored to put it at 27-24.

The drama then ensued. Tech was able to snag the onside kick and was again screaming down the field. Well inside FG range, it seemed like Tech could tie it. However, LB Ryan Cheek would leap up and snag the INT to preserve the win.

Player of the game for NC State was TE Mario Carter with 6 catches for 99 yards and 2 td's.

    Wyoming @ NC State

Coming off a strong win at Texas Tech, NC State returns home for a game against Wyoming. The Cowboys would score first, coming up with a safety to go up 2-0. That would be all they could really do until the backups came in during the 4th quarter. The Pack would methodically go to work on Wyoming, with Glennon and HB Washington leading the way. Glennon would end up 15-20 for 244 yards and 3 td's. Washington would carry the rock 26 times for 107 yards and a TD.

Final score was NC State 28, Wyoming 12.

    Florida State @ NC State

NC State really knew they'd have to step it up for the Seminoles. FSU came in ranked #9 in the country and boasted talent that NC State just did not have. Prior to the kick, Coach Parrothead gathered his team and let them know they'd have to give everything they had and then some to pull this one out. Judging by the results, they listened.

FSU would win the toss and defer. NCSU would strike first just a few plays in with QB Glennon hitting WR Tobias Palmer with a 63 yard strike for 6. Palmer would break a couple of tackles before scooting into the end zone. FSU would get the ball and put a drive together to to get to midfield, but would end up punting, with the ball going out of the end zone for a touchback. The teams would continue to trade punts with FSU continually pinning the Pack deep every time.

The second quarter would continue the defensive struggle, but with their last drive of the half, State was able to put something together and hit a 44 yard FG. At the half, NC State 10, FSU 0.

The D would continue to step up for NC State keeping FSU from getting anything going. The Seminoles would cross midfield only to be stuffed time and again. With a couple minutes left in the third, NCSU put another drive together that ended with Glennon finding TE Mario Carter for the 2 yard score. 17-0, NCSU. After a quick 3 and out, NCSU would hand the ball off on a sweet to James Washington, who would outrun everyone before getting hit at the goal line and tumbling in. 24-0, Pack.

The D got even tougher at this point, and FSU couldn't move the ball at all. While running the clock down, the Pack would add a 51 yard FG to make it 27-0. With the stifling D, FSU was done. When the smoke cleared, NC State held FSU to 106 total yards of offense. The other telltale state was time of possession, which NC State won 17:21 to 10:39.

Player of the game was James Washington who carried the ball 22 times for 129 yards and a TD.

Good game, FSU. As I mentioned on Live, every break seemed to go my way.
