    Penn State takes down Illinois 66-37

    Illinois went nuts in the 2nd and 3rd quarter....they caught some balls in triple coverage and became invisible on 1 run play where my LB literally went right through the HB....awesome. Anyway the story was that Illinois could literally NOT stop the PSU running game...between 4 runners PSU gained 400+ yards on the ground. Freshman WR Brian Williams had a monster first half 4/75 and a TD BUT at a cost as he went down with a hand injury in the 2nd quarter and will be out 3 weeks. Ugly game for the defense but luckily the offense kept Illinois behind the whole game. We finally got our first 3 and out in the 4th quarter!

    Sparse Crowd watches ASU Tackle WSU 45-13

    If you were not in your seat by the end of the 1st quarter, you probably turned around and went home. The visiting Devils put up 21 points in the opening period. Up 21 the ASU put it on cruise control and played halfhearted to a half-empty stadium. Every body got into the action in this one. There was a big injury to back up QB Michael Eubanks who is out 9 weeks. The Sundevils are really thin at QB now. HB Deantre Lewis led the rushing attack with 15 carries and 111 yards. QB Taylor Kelly connected for 2 touchdowns but also threw 2 picks. Kelly will have to be better and certainly better in big games. Next week the Devils travel to Notre Dame to face the 3-1 fighting Irish.

    On the recruiting trail ASU only has 1 recruit committed. It should be interesting to see where we end up.

    =============== #12 Georgia Bulldogs (3-1) ===============
    Last week the Bulldogs were idle.
    This week, the Bulldogs will host #2 Alabama (3-0).
    In recruiting news, the following Georgia targets have announced their decisions:
    - (*****) WR David Green has committed to Georgia
    ---Coach makinpropel and his bulldogs have a big time matchup looming against #2 Alabama. This is one of those early season matchups that could shape up the BCS title scene later down the road. In recruiting, they nabbed David Green, cousin of former Crimson Tide AJ Green. He has similar traits and should be a big time WR for Georgia down the road.

    =============== #10 Utah Utes (3-1) ===============
    Last week the Utes were idle.
    This week, the Utes will host BYU (1-2).
    ---The Utes were idle with games and in recruiting but get back on the horse as they host BYU.

    =============== Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-3) ===============
    Last week, Mississippi State lost 31-10 against Penn State (3-0).
    This week, the Bulldogs travel to Knoxville to face the #19 Tennessee Volunteers (2-2).
    ---Coach smlVICTORIES53 seemingly can't get his offense going and as a result, his team has lost 3 straight games. It doesn't get any better though as they travel to Tennessee to play the Vols.

    =============== #7 Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-0) ===============
    Last week, Nebraska won 59-7 against Northwestern (1-4).
    This week, the Cornhuskers are idle.
    ---The Cornhuskers got a strong effort from Taylor Martinez who passed over 300 yards and threw 5TD's while RB Trey Smith rushed for 100 yards for the 1st time since his 300+ yard outburst in game 1.

    =============== #8 Ole Miss Rebels (4-0) ===============
    Last week, Ole Miss won 37-21 against Auburn (2-2).
    This week, the Rebels will host South Carolina (3-2).
    In recruiting news, the following Ole Miss targets have announced their decisions:
    - (****) LE Trevor Gaines has committed to Ole Miss
    - (***) HB Jacob Gray has committed to Ole Miss
    ---The Rebels handled Auburn but was very eager and exciting to bring in RB Jacob Gray, a speedy RB who figures to become that home run threat that current Rebel RB Jeff Scott is.

    =============== #4 Penn State Nittany Lions (3-0) ===============
    Last week, Penn State won 31-10 against Mississippi State (1-3).
    This week, the Nittany Lions travel to Bloomington to face the Indiana Hoosiers (3-1).
    ---It seems like the Nittany Lions haven't missed a beat with coach jms493 returning and receiving an all-around solid effort from his RB Silas Redd and QB Rob Bolden, who was extremely accurate completing 12 of 15 passes on the game. If Bolden can stay this efficient, this maybe one of the best teams in the nation.

    =============== #1 Stanford Cardinal (4-0) ===============
    Last week, Stanford won 35-16 against Arizona State (2-1).
    This week, the Cardinal are idle.
    ---The Cardinal have been seemingly at #1 for the longest and coach HotRod attributes this to a strong run game led by RB Anthony Wilkerson. Although not quite as explosive as Taylor, Wilkerson isn't no slouch.

    =============== #19 Tennessee Volunteers (2-2) ===============
    Last week the Volunteers were idle.
    This week, the Volunteers will host Mississippi State (1-3).
    ---The Vols have been struggling and they face a struggling Mississippi State team. Here we have two teams that BADLY need this win. I expect this to be the game of the week based on desperation.

    =============== Wisconsin Badgers (2-2) ===============
    Last week, Wisconsin won 34-0 against Minnesota (3-1).
    This week, the Badgers travel to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines (2-2).
    ---Coach Juggs seems to finally be back in the fold and just in time to play the Wolverines who have adapted a new offensive style. Wisconsin's style is the same...run RB James White into the ground....hope this kid took out insurance on his legs for the NFL!

    =============== #25 Arizona State Sun Devils (2-1) ===============
    Last week, Arizona State lost 35-16 against Stanford (4-0).
    This week, the Sun Devils travel to Pullman to face the Washington State Cougars (0-4).
    ---ASU was in the game early on but couldn't keep up with the high octane offense of the Cardinal. ASU gets a breather as they face the winless Cougars.

    =============== Michigan Wolverines (2-2) ===============
    Last week, Michigan won 34-20 against Notre Dame (3-1).
    This week, the Wolverines will host Wisconsin (2-2).
    In recruiting news, the following Michigan targets have announced their decisions:
    - (***) FS Eddie Griffin has committed to Ohio State
    - (****) RG Marcus Lloyd has committed to Michigan
    ---Michigan recently made an offensive philosophy change as they benched the dual threat QB Devon Gardner. They went to their true freshman, who's a pure pocket passer and combined with the array of WR's this could be the start of a new day at Ann Arbor.

    =============== #11 Oregon State Beavers (3-1) ===============
    Last week, Oregon State won 55-34 against Washington (2-2).
    This week, the Beavers travel to Berkeley to face the Cal Golden Bears (3-1).
    In recruiting news, the following Oregon State targets have announced their decisions:
    - (**) CB Dan Porter has committed to Oregon State
    - (***) CB Maurice Farris has committed to Oregon State
    - (****) SS Jonathan Bowers has committed to Oregon State
    ---OSU's been doing solid with their new coach. They picked up 3 recruits on the trail including SS Jonathan Bowers, one of ESPN's Top 150 prospects.

    Solid Win for Nutt

    Ole Miss walks off with a 48-16 victory over South Carolina.

    With three important recruits visiting for an important conference opener against South Carolina, Ole Miss struck hard early going up 17-0 early in the second quarter on the strength of good defense and clutch third down conversions. Jeff Scott took one of his 12 carries 47 yards for a touchdown and Barry Brunetti hooked up with a wide open James Logan on a beautiful connection in the back of the end zone. They then went almost a quarter and a half without doing much of anything on offense while South Carolina crept back into the game.

    South Carolina kicked two field goals and then capitalized on shoddy pass blocking when Brunetti was hit while throwing and fumbled. The Gamecocks returned the fumble for a touchdown and seemingly were right back in the thick of things.

    However, Ole Miss exploded to score 31 of the final 34 points in the game as Brunetti continued to have the hot hand whenever the pass blocking allowed. The blocking was horrible on both sides as the teams combined for 14 sacks.

    In the end Brunetti went 33 - 20 with 391 yards and 4 touchdowns, with no interceptions. His favorite target was Logan, who caught 8 passes for 174 yards and 3 touchdowns in an impressive performance. Jeff Scott tacked on 128 yards on 12 carries, with a touchdown. On defense, Ryan Swain intercepted 2 passes and five players had at least one sack.
