I smell football in the air boys!
#4 LSU 38 - BYU 10
The Tigers rolled at home in the opener. We got off to a slow start, but with tenacious defense and a very steady running game we were able to take a 10 pt lead in the first quarter and from there we choked the Cougars out. We played backups most of the 4th quarter.
QB Jordan Jefferson started and played ok....he'll start again next week in Tallahassee (Kid Robotz) but he'll be on a very short leash. We'll have Zach Mecklenberger ready to go if necessary.
RB Spencer Ware however had a whale of a game. He accounted for 190 yards from scrimmage with 3 td's. (first one ^)
No one really had a standout game on defense, but the whole unit was nails. We forced two BYU int's. One of those was housed by Bobby Taylor.
Jefferson: 8-18 142 1 TD 2 INT
Ware 24-148 2 TD , 2 rec 42 1td. Total 190 yds 3 td's.
We also got our first special teams td of the season on a 82 yard Punt returned for a td by Mo Claiborne.
We move to 1-0 but have no time to rest. We have a big business trip to Tallahassee to meet up with our old nemesis Kid Robotz and his Seminoles.
Penn State 35 ECU 13
In a game much closer than the score would lead you to believe, Penn State notches their first victory of the 2012 campaign behind the stellar efforts of sophomore runningback Silas Redd. Redd who had 121 yards on 16 carries, including 2 touchdowns, controlled the tempo for the Lions.
ECU QB Dominque Davis did everything he could to keep the Pirates in the game, connecting on 23 of 45 passes for a school record 467 yards. However, it was the four interceptions that Davis threw that lead the ECU's demise.
Equally as poor, Penn State sophomore QB Rob Bolden threw three interceptions in 7 attempts, quickly falling behind his QB competition Matt McGloin.
Coach Bravejaf and the Buckeyes players started the season with a big win over the Justin Blackmon led Cowboys. Blackmon had a huge game with 9 catches for 204 yards, but he also made a very costly mistake. In the third quarter Blackmon had the football stripped from his hands by Buckeyes' CB Dominic Clarke. Safety C.J. Barnett scooped up the fumble and returned it for the score. The rest of Ohio State's points came from the offensive side. Bauserman threw a pass on his first attempt of the game but he settled down. He completed 8 of his last 10 passes for 112 yards and a TD. His TD pass was a 31 yard pass to Chris Fields in the second quarter. The rest of the offense came from the running game. Boom Herron was the work hours with 27 carries for 129 yards and a TD. Jamal Berry added 11 carries for 53 yards and a TD. Berry's TD pretty much sealed the win for Ohio State, though Brandon Weeden kept things interesting for most of the game. Weeden passed for 319 yards and 4 TD, but he also threw a pick directly to Barnett.
It wouldn't be fair to ignore the special teams. Kicker Drew Basil made all 4 field goal attempts, including a long of 50 yards. Devier Posey also was solid on returns, including a 21 yard average on punt returns. He nearly ran for touchdowns on 2 different returns.
Ohio State heads into a bye week before a week 3 match against NC State. The Buckeyes also have a match with Oregon looming. The Bucks take on the Ducks in week 5.
I posted a story on the Dynasty Wire. Its on the front page now.
Virginia Tech- 51
Arizona St.- 0
The Hokies looked impressive in their opener, building a 37-0 lead at half behind the legs of David Wilson. Wilson finished with 174yds 4 TD on 19 carries. Logan Thomas made plays when he needed to 12/21 289yds 1 TD, but he did throw 2 ints. The defense did its job shutting out the air raid offense of the Sun Devils and forcing 5 turnovers. The Hokies look well prepared for their trip to Beaver Stadium next week.....
bravejaf Papa Perry
told ya so
Posted mine on the dynasty page as well.
When I beat you, what does that say about you?
Nothing to do with you persay. I told them last night that someone was gonna lose week 1.
Just so happens you were the only one
I kinda lucked out, the last game i played of my offline dynasty just so happened to be Florida vs Boise State for the BCS championship. So I had some idea of how to play against them
Haven't forgotten to post my summary, been battling EA all day b/c of the change tot he origin login shit, I no longer had access to the email my acct was linked to. Took 1 hour to get the shit fixed. So, pic and writeup soon.
I can't remember when I quit playing NCAA 11. I took a Tradition Football vacation and paid the price. Call it karma. Or was it the 8 interceptions I threw? Funny shit regardless.
UNC 34, Hawaii 27
Playing Hawaii is kind of like playing an online cheeser--in their run-and-shoot they came out in 4 wide formation on all but two plays on offense. (And they had 5 wide on one of those.) Thus, my 4-3 formation barely saw any work as we just tried to slow their passing attack. I suppose the Heels were successful enough--Hawaii QB Bryant Moniz was 30-47 with 3 TDs but also 3 INTs, and UNC gave up a late TD in garbage time to make the score a little closer.
Bryn Renner had a shaky debut for the Heels--10-19 with 2 INTs. But Ryan Houston dominated the Hawaii front 7 all day long, gaining 182 yards on 21 carries and 3 TDs. WR Dwight Jones also had a monster day, catching 4 balls for 85 yards and taking a kickoff return 95 yards to the house. The defensive line generated 3 sacks to go with the 3 INTs, but Hawaii still was very effective throwing the ball which is cause for concern. Of course, they almost never ran the ball, so we'll try that part of our defense out against Michigan State.
Coach Papa Perry got his first win as the new head coach of the Clemson Tigers. While the defense was a little shaky and gave up a lot of yards, there ability to force turnovers kept this game in their hands. They forced 3 fumbles and points came off of every one of them. Not only did the defense force turnovers but they also got to the QB forcing 7 sacks. They were led by DE Malliciah Goodman who led the team with 3 sacks. Another big story was true freshman running back/return specialist, Mike Bellamy. On just his fourth career kick return, he took it all the way to the house for the Tigers' only score of the 3rd quarter. The offense had a lot of trouble keeping the momentum going. Just when it lookied like they were going to successfully drive the field they would sputter to a stop and half to punt. They did however score on 3 occasions: 2 TD passes by Tahj Boyd (10 yd, 24 yd) and a nice 11 yard run by back up running back Roderick McDowell. Starting running back Andre Ellington had a nice game on the ground but failed to find the endzone.

I put a write-up of Florida State and LSU up on the Dynasty Wire.
Omg... did my game not count against Texas A&M?
It froze while Loading the Dynasty after it updated the highlight info...
it was a 49-10 win. (Sigh)
Week 2 posted on dynasty. This was a rough one to get completed after the first one froze exiting the game.
Out of curiousity has anyone elses game froze on them during online or offline dynasty? This is the fourth time the game has frozen (First in online dynasty). This time however I could goto the dashboard but the dashboard would not show up and required a restart of the xBox. This is the only game that does this to me. Im starting to wonder if its freezing when the ESPN radio is trying to kick in...
It happened to me a few times offline. Always at the very ass end of a game too. I downloaded it to my hard drive and play it from there now though. I think that might cure your freezing sickness.
This may sound newbish... as Ive only had my xBox for 6 months and only had the 250HD for like a month... how do i go about downloading it to my hard drive if I bought retail copy? Do they go off of the Game key or something to know it's legit? Or do i need to buy the digital version?
I was sooo mad too... i was assuming my first game was counted and that just maybe the highlights didnt get uploaded... I had even written up what i was going to post to the dynasty page... I was so bummed... xBox experience last night in the three different games i played was a rage fest ha. Maybe it was my 2 hours of sleep the night before kicking in. But i think my connection was terrible all night across the board.
To download anygame to your harddrive, I think you go to game library. When you find NCAA 12 listed if you click on it, it should give you the option to download it to you HD. I always download to the HD. You do have to have the game in the xbox to still play off of the HD, but you don't have to worry about the game not playing because of scratches on the disc.
Oh and for everyone else in the league, someone needs to put a bounty on Demps.....
Oh sweet Id rather play off the HD for all my games as well.
Hey leave Demps alone He'll be injured at some point this year im sure...
My Offline season he was the front runner for the Heisman only to get injured in the FSU and then again in the SEC championship for "1 week" which is actually "1 game" as it was a month before the BCS championship booo. For the injuries he wasnt even in the top 5 for the Heisman .
He's pretty fragile lol.
Leave it up to the Headhunter: Papa Perry!
