I like I happy medium, so I set it at 25-35. I don't want speed to be the overriding factor in games. I would never recommend setting it higher than 50.

Yeah, I have mine set at 30. The fastest guys should get some reward for being the fastest but not over done.

The speed threshold is a slider that effects the speed of the player vs another player. For instance, a 96 spd wr vs an 88 spd cb. On the default setting of 50, the difference between these two is not as noticeable. The lower the rating, the higher the threshold. So on 30 for instance, it will be a lot harder for the cb to keep up. If you want a more even playing field, then you would set the number higher. Does that make sense?

It actually has more to do with acceleration. The Lower the threshold is, the quicker guys reach top speed.

Are you positive about this? The way that Jamie described it has always been my understanding of it and it has also fit with my experiments with it in '12.

There's a very good test regarding this on the OS site, fwiw.

I read a detailed article somewhere a couple years ago that explained this. It basically has to do with 40 times or how quickly players get from A to B. From my understanding it was more based on accelleration.

This quote is from SECElite from OS. He does a very good slider set every year, so I defer to his judgement:

It effects the accleration of the players. Say you have two players, one has a 92 acceleration rating and the other has a 75. If you were to raise the threshold to 100, there would be little to no separation between the two because they would both be acceleratiing at the same rate, completely making their accleleration ratings a non-factor.

Vice versa, meaning if you were to lower the threshold to zero, player one would win the race because of his high acceleration rating.

Maximum speed is not affected by this slider.

That's why I like the speed threshold at 0, because to use the example above, the 92 player should always beat the 75 guy. I played on 0 all last year, and never felt like 0 gave speed guys an unfair or overwhelming advantage. The 0 rating also helped cut out speed players being caught from behind by slower players.

I agree with the 0 setting. I play at 0 90% of the time, occasionally at 10 or 15.
