Two more additions for the Tigers. Allen will likely red-shirt with the tremendous depth in front of him. He's a very quick, athletic route runner with good release. Potential slot or #2 later on in his career. Rhodes will likely slot in to a DT position. The Tigers are completed stacked DT for the future so The Tigers may introduce the 5-2 for run heavy sets next year. Currently DT Hoch is #2 in the country for the Lombardi award as a Junior. With no seniors on the roster at DT, it will be interesting to see if DT Hoch comes back for his Senior year which would ultimately move Rhodes to a red-shirt.
Cal signs a monster at TE. He'll be #2 next year behind then SR Rodgers and then Walters will be a 3 year starter. In coach Jello's system a TE's only job is to block and Walters will do that very well as he already has 75/77/80 PBK/RBK/IBK. As an added bonus his SPD, size, and receiving skills are decent for a blocker so this will likely allow him to be a full time TE whereas coach Jello usually uses a receiving TE in his passing formations.
Spreadsheet is updated for Missouri through the regular season. Interestingly, Mizzou has not signed two players from the same state this year yet. Not a particularly great class of kids coming in. We still have our sights on a few guys we got to land on signing day that can make this a Top 5 class easily. Would really like to see RB Josey come back for his senior year but if he is able to capture the Heisman while being on the DL, I doubt he sticks around.
Yeah....I was after 2 guys all season. Burley and an athlete. I had to choose, so I went full retard on the other guy. He's way better than Burley. I'll post him up after we advance.
Week 5 of season 2 was big for Cal as they ink their first 5 recruits, 3 of them ESPNU150 guys. Sampson will be a solid SS in the future. He's really slow, but he hits like a Mack truck and covers very well. Bailey will play corner for the Bears. His lack of PRS ability means that he'll likely be a nickle/dime back his entire career. He was won in a battle with UW's coach blLL flo and thankfully signed before he got a chance to visit Washington's campus. King would make an amazing CB, but he was recruited as a QB. Last season coach Jello recruited the QB of the present and future but he was mistakenly placed @ CB instead. Coach Jello may still move him back to QB after this year, taking a huge AWR hit, and if so, then King will likely end up @ CB after all. Like Bailey, Berry was won in a battle with coach blLL flo 's Huskies. He's surprisingly only a 74 OVR, but he has the makings of a very solid DT with his 77/79/79 PMV/FMV/BSH. He'll likely end up as a starter down the line. Davis is a career backup.
Cal signs 5 more recruits in the past couple of weeks. Gray is a JR, but he's talented with a good skill set. He could play WR, but he'll almost certainly play corner for the Bears where his 90 MCV and 88 ZCV will come in very handy. Jackson is a bit of an enigma. His 90 THP/82 THA would make him a good QB, but he's way too slow with 78 SPD. His cover skills and tackling skills would make him a decent safety, but again, he might be too slow. There's a very real possibility that he'll end up at LB for the Bears when it's all said and done. Nunez will definitely play HB for the Bears, despite the fact that Cal has absolutely zero need for a new HB this year since they return 5 HBs for next season. He should make a decent #2 or #3 HB down the line whenever he finally gets to play. Richardson and Chavis are both mediocre and will have a shot to compete for a starting spot by the time they're RS SRs.
4 more signings for Cal after their defeat of the Kitty Kats of Arizona. Muhammad is a great signing all around. He brings a very, very solid skill set at the most important position in coach Jello's defensive scheme and on top of that he'll help to build that Florida pipeline that coach Jello covets. His 71/75 MCV/ZCV should help make him an every down LBer, something that coach Jello hasn't had in anyone for his first 2 seasons. Johnson is a very talented DE. He's awfully light in the ass at only 232, but luckily that won't matter. He brings very solid BSH and PMV, but has extremely low FMV for a DE. He does bring great speed to the table though with 81 SPD and 85 ACC. Coach Jello managed to just barely edge out coach BRUCE80 's Cougars for this kid. Perry's OVR is deceptively low @ 70 as he's a very solid tackle with 76 PBK and 78 RBK. He won't start right away, but he'll be a starter down the line at some point. Kennedy is simply a body to help fill out this very large 21 person class. Luckily he's already a JR so he won't be on the team for long. These recruits bring the total up to 14 with only 7 more guys left to sign.
Tennessee's Class so far. Added Ohio as a pipeline and on the verge of adding North Carolina and Michigan. A lot of speed here, particularly on defense.
One man's Sally is another's.....something. Typically, JUCO's are forgotten and have less competition. If you look hard enough, you can find ones, like mine, that are ready to play right away. (ie. rated in the high 70's or low 80's) I also have a big need at corner next year, so looking for 68 overall true freshman wasn't an option.
Def didn't get the natty interest pay off I thought I would. The difference has been bonus points. Although some teams still put distance on me even with a full load. Had to wait until the first big visit to get kids in for a visit and signed on.
Picked up FB Mike Browning last week. Browning may be the best FB in the class. We will look to add more FB runs next year to utilize this guy. He'll start from day 1
Cal signs a couple more to bring their total to 17 as they prepare for the offseason. McKinley is a decent enough DT from GA and will likely see the field at some point during his brief stay in Berkeley. Ball is another underrated OL guy with a nice 78/77 PBK/RBK At Cal FBs only ever step on the field in goal line formation and kick returns so coach Jello doesn't utilize any resources on them. His only goal is to eventually sign one after he's signed enough guys that actually matter so as to not get a walkon. Carter fills that role beautifully.
