    WEEK 1
Northwestern Wildcats v. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

This game started off as a low scoring affair with Tech taking the ball down the field on their first two possessions behind a vicious running attack lead by QB Vlad. The Wildcats were able to respond with their scores lead by QB Kain Colter.
The game swung in NU's favor as the Yellow Jackets QB was hit and fumbled leading to a TD for the Wildcats. Behind two scores, GT had to pass the ball which they are horrible at. Vlad threw the ball over recievers heads all day. And was quick to pull the ball down and turn to his feet. NU was quick to neaturilze this QB running attack.
The quick 3 and outs lead to easy points for NU, and it only got more ugly as the game went on as GT leaned more and more on their non-existnant passing game.

    WEEK 2
Northwestern Wildcats v. #22 Oregon State Beavers

The Wildcats travel to take on the 22nd ranked Beavers and come away with the close victory. This was a back and forth game, which got crazy come mid way through the 3rd QTR when WR J. Christian fumbled the ball allowing for an easy turn of events and score for the Beavers. This score took the game from being over to very much alive again.
Up 14 points and driving down the field Beaver fans were starting to exit the stadium when the a full momentum swing kicked off. This was followed up by another fumble, this time by star QB Kain Colter. Luckily the Wildcats were able to user intercept the Beavers down on the goal line to prevent further damage, and a game tying score.
With the ball back in NU's hands they quickly switched over to a conservative game style, eating clock and escaping with the narrow victory! Player of the game again is QB - KAIN COLTER ... He added 3 more TDs, two through the air and one on the ground with a QB sneak!

Week 3 The Husker traveled to Sun Devil Stadium in Arizona to face JFosh and his ASU Sundevils.
The Huskers relied on the ground game and on some big plays to put the Devils in a bad position and force them out of their comfort zone and ball control O.
    ScreenHunter_62 Jul. 23 21.49.jpg
When the dust cleared 4 turnovers and 100 yards plus and a td from Ameer Andulla were too much to overcome for Foshy and the Huskers win 41-7.
The 17th ranked Huskers move to 3-0 on the young season.

    WEEK 3
    Northwestern Wildcats v. Maryland Terrapins

The Wildcats travel to Maryland to take on the snapping turtles and get bitten! Senior QB Kain Colter never gained traction as he threw for 5 interceptions in this event. RB - V. Mark had a good game for the Wildcats but too much damage was already done for it to matter. C. Brown and W. Brown for the MD went to work on the ground and air and cruised to a 24-14 victory at home.

    WEEK 4
    Northwestern Wildcats v. Syracuse Orange
    NUvSU.jpg
The Wildcats take on the Orange after a road loss to MD. With two key recruits in the stands coach Jowers knew a rebound was a must! Senior leader, K. Colter did not let down the home team fans ripping off 4 TDs total, while going over 300 yards through the air. RB - V. Mark put up 126 on the ground to balance out the offense. Syracuse drew within 7 points in the 3rd QTR behind a massive attack of screen plays but soon faulted as they kept running the same 2-3 plays. Defensive Coordnator for the Wildcats was tuned in and key'd up the D to make some critical stops and put some distance between the two teams.
Player of the Game - QB - Kain Colter

    WEEK 6
    Northwestern Wildcats v. Purdue Boilermakers
    NUvPU.jpg
The Wildcats D lead by Jr LB C. Ellis really shut down Purdue in this match up of Big 10 schools. On the flip side K. Colter and receiver K. Prater went to work keep Purdue off balance with the mix-in of V. mark of course who finished up 70 yards and a TD. Great showing by the D, big show down against Wisconsin next week!

I don't have the specifics as the game didn't upload. The Cards survived a furious comeback by swatting away the game tying 2 pt play with a minute to go to seal the win. HB Anthony Wilkerson battered the Huskies behind his massive OL to control the clock and game.

    California 38, UCLA 37
Cal came to LA looking to show their ranking of #11 was legit against an upstart #2 UCLA Bruins team. When the dust settled, fans were treated to one crazy game, and Cal snuck out with an amazing one point win.

If you look at some of the key stats, you wonder just how it could have happened. Time of possession showed UCLA with a commanding 20:16 to 7:44 comparison. UCLA had 317 rushing yards compared to Cal's 31. UCLA had 27 first downs compared to 12 for Cal. What's missing in these stats are the big plays Cal somehow managed to squeeze in, as well as a huge blow for UCLA on what should have been a gimme.

The game started with UCLA deferring to the second half. Cal took the ball and went 3 and out, thanks to a generous homefield spot making it 4th and inches instead of giving the Bears the first down. UCLA would just cruise down the field in a few plays, finishing with QB Brett Hundley finding a streaking WR Devin Lucien down the left sideline for a 38 yard score. Cal would get the ball back and start to march down the field only to have a pass hit the FB and be dropped instantly. Instead of calling it an incomplete pass, the play was ruled a fumble on the field and was recovered by UCLA. Coach Eric Taylor was livid on the sidelines to no avail. UCLA struck again a few plays later when Hundley connected with WR Shaq Evans for a 53 yard TD to make the score 14-0 Bruins. Cal settled it down on the next drive as freshman QB Zach Kline engineered a nice drive ending with a 5 yard TD pass to Chris Harper to cut the lead to 14-7, and the quarter would come to an end with UCLA driving.

The second quarter would see the Bears scoop up a fumble and a couple plays into the quarter, Kline would find WR Maurice Harris for a 40 yard TD to tie things up. UCLA would get it back determined to take the lead, and did with a 6 yard run from HB Malcolm Jones with 3:10 left. Cal would end up punting the ball again and UCLA would look to add to the lead, driving down the field. Cal would intercept a pass to stop this from happening and tried to put together a scoring drive before the half ended. With no timeouts, Cal would get the ball inside the UCLA 1 yard line with 5 seconds left. Decision time. Coach Taylor decides to run a quick pass play hoping for either a TD or incomplete pass. TE Rodgers grabs the ball in the air in the end zone, but is pushed back outside the goal line before coming down. The refs rule he caught the ball outside the end zone, and the clock expired. Coach Taylor launches his headset across the field, running right past sideline reporters anxious for a quick halftime interview. The score at the break was UCLA 21, Cal 14.

The second half is where things went crazy. UCLA would receive the ball and put together a solid, time eating drive. This 4:27 drive culminated with HB Malcom Jones going in for his second TD of the day, this one from just inside the 1 yard line. It's now 28-14. This where the Bryce Treggs show comes alive. Taking the kickoff 4 yards deep in the end zone, Treggs starts up field and sees an opening to his left. The opening is quickly filled by his own blocker, who Treggs bounces off of. Rather than be deterred by this, Treggs cuts back around to the left and sprints untouched to the end zone for a 104 yard kickoff return to bring the lead back to just 7. UCLA would get the ball back and put together another drive, just chewing clock and yardage into the 4th quarter. At the end of 3, the score was UCLA 28, Cal 21.

UCLA would continue the drive it started in the 3rd quarter. With 5:40 left, HB Jordon James would score on a 16 yard TD run. Then of all the crazy things to happen in this game, the extra point hit the left upright and bounced back into the field of play. Instead of going up 14, the lead was 13--UCLA 34, Cal 21. Treggs decided this was his game and when the kick came to him 2 yards deep in the end zone, he made his move. This time there were no blockers of his own to run into, so he made a couple of moves and streaked downfield again for his second kickoff return of the game, this one 102 yards to make the score UCLA 34, Cal 28. UCLA's next drive looked to chew some clock again and put points on the board. However, on a key 3rd down, the Bears intercepted the pass, as LB Nick Forbes stepped in front of the receiver to give the Bears a chance. Kline would come out for the first time since the second quarter and looked fresh. Leading the Bears down the field with a mix of pass and run plays, he would call HB Brendan Bigelow's number. With 2:01 left in the game (and UCLA having called a couple of their timeouts to keep hope alive for their next drive), Bigelow punched it in from a yard out. After kicking the extra point, Cal took a 1 point lead at 35-34. UCLA had plenty of time, so they didn't have to resort to just throwing the ball. Using the running game which had been destroying Cal all game and throwing in some passes to mix it up, UCLA marched down the field. Cal started to use their timeouts and stopped UCLA on 3rd down, forcing the FG attempt. Cal had called a timeout to try to ice the kicker, but to no avail as the UCLA kicker wasn't iced at all (you'd think he would be after having missed an extra point earlier). With 23 seconds left, Ke'imi Fairbairn booted it right down the middle of the uprights from 39 yards to give the Bruins a 37-35 lead. The fans were going nuts, and all seemed lost for the Bears. The announcers were talking about the horrible decision made in the first half of not kicking the FG and taking points off the board. Treggs trotted back onto the field determined to make something happen. This time, however, the kick was too deep and Treggs took a knee to give the Bears the ball on the 25 yard line and preserve what little time was left. Down 2 on their own 25 and no timeouts. Kline jogged back onto the field and looked every player in the eye. "We're going to win this one. I'm not losing to the Bruins. Not today." Lining up on the first play, Kline threw it deep over the middle. His receiver looked to have been knocked off his route while the ball was in the air, but no call was made. Under 20 seconds left and the Bears lined up again. Sending a couple of guys deep on the outside with two guys running crosses underneath, Kline launched it deep. Treggs would somehow get behind the defenders and come down with the ball at the UCLA 19 yard line. With no timeouts, the Bears sprinted to the line to spike the ball. Kicker Vincent D'Amato came onto the field to attempt the 36 yard FG. UCLA called their final timeout to give D'Amato time to think about it. The ice was on, but D'Amato came through, hitting the FG to put Cal up 1 again. The stadium went silent, save for the few Bears fans remaining. The kickoff would be downed in the end zone. Time for one last play for UCLA. In the confusion of playcalling, Hundley thought he was running some kind of option and got tackled behind the line of scrimmage and the Cal players started celebrating their improbable victory.

Next up for Cal is a home game against the currently #25 Oregon State Beavers.

    Players of the game:

Offense/Special Teams: WR Bryce Treggs - 3 catches for 75 yards (including the one putting Cal in position to win it with a FG), 3 KO returns for 247 yards and 2 TDs.
Defense: LB Nick Forbes - 10 tackles, 1 INT

great game Blaza. I definitely got away with one.

Great game The Parrothead! That one was devastating. Felt like we had you dead to rights, and your special teams kept stepping up. Hope we meet again in the PAC-12 showdown.
