    NCAA 2010 Conferences

I know we talked about ranking the coaches and then assigning them by leagues, but I had an idea I decided I would toss out there.

In TTIV, we use a two conference system, both with conference championships. So we have 6 members in each conference. The 6 are split half and half with 3 in each division of the conference.

I really like the setup, because it allows for a much larger user conference race and keeps it fair with everyone having a conference championship to bypass. It doesn't change the number of UvU games because you will have anywhere between 3 and 5 in conference user games, with the rest being addressed in OOC. It also helps with some of the recruiting battles, as it keeps us all geographically close.

So with this in mind, we could probably use something like the Big XII and SEC. We are still early from the game. Don't forget that we can create our own conferences so we aren't necessarily tied to the teams that are in these conferences as much as the structure itself.

    Thoughts?

    To help us decide, preferences:
    Drifter: Texas A&M, Baylor
    JR: ACC, Pitt or Virginia
    OM: Ole Miss
    Sanders: Va Tech
    Flo: Pac-10
    Mutt: Nebraska, Minnesota
    JK: Missouri

I really think that is a great idea.

If I have a vote, I would go with this set up. Big XII and SEC.

Would be great recruiting battles, and the league setup would be great.

i would prefer the ACC to the Big XII as the bottom of the BIG 12 blows...

I'm not one who cares for taking a sorry team (see Iowa). I'm sure there are others that aren't interested in taking powerhouses as well. Plus, the Big XII will at least be 6 deep next year, and we can rearrange them if we need to.

We can still make both ideas work I think. Just divvy the ranks into four groups instead of three. So #1-3 will be SEC West, #4-6 will be Big 12 North, etc. I think that would work nicely. I also think ACC could be intriguing instead of Big 12 though, fwiw. It would REALLY make recruiting interesting, plus it would be all new teams for everyone. Just my 2 cents.

more thoughts on the ACC-SEC combo....
Clemson, Miami and Florida State battle yearly with SEC schools Florida, South Carolina and Georgia...

i dont want to walk into a powerhouse school.. much more pleasure building your school into a powerhouse for me...

Im assuming rivalry games can be edited, but I would love to tinker with the SEC and ACC and remove some of weaklings.

Get rid of a few of the weaker SEC/ACC teams like Vandy, MSU, Duke, Kentucky, and maybe a few more.

Let me tinker with the conference and see what we can get.

I'd be all for the SEC/ACC

The are more geographically closer than the Big 12.

Plus maybe I could get Virginia Tech (y)

    How about this..

    SEC

    WEST:
    Alabama
    Auburn
    LSU
    Ole Miss
    Texas
    Texas A&M

    East:
    Florida
    Tennessee
    Georgia
    Miami
    Florida State
    South Florida

    ACC:

    ACC Division I:
    North Carolina State
    Maryland
    Wake Forest
    North Carolina
    Virginia Tech
    Virginia

    ACC Division II
    South Carolina
    Georgia Tech
    Clemson
    West Virginia
    Pittsburgh
    Rutgers/Cincy

I love the recruiting battles that you would have with these conferences. Miami/FSU/Florida in the same division would be awesome. ACC would be crazy competitive with all 6 Division I teams in three states.

I like the idea of adding Texas and Texas A&M to the SEC because Texas is such fertile recruiting ground for the SEC especially teams in the West.

Anyway just throwing these ideas out there

I just wanted to mix it up and not copy what TTIII is doing.

I really don't care. Sanders comment made me realize that a lot of you guys are east coast and sec/acc fans.

I just like the idea of a conference championship game.

That really only allows 3 major conferences, Big XII, SEC, ACC.

Also, I really like the idea of 2 conferences and 4 divisions, with 3 teams in each division.

All-User conference championships makes it that much harder to get to a national title....which is a good thing...

I personally like the recruiting battles as well. Imagine Florida/Miami/Georgia/FSU all going after talent in Florida. Definitely divide it up. throw in Tennessee and South Florida and that is an amazing division.

I think we would need to reorganize your ACC divisions, OM. I realize they are extremely preliminary. I think we should go for a North/South type of look. How crazy would it be to have all of the carolina schools in one division. Nuts.

Also we aren't stuck with just ACC/SEC/Big XII teams.

We can make any two conferences we want. We could go pac 10 and big 10 teams and simply put them in the SEC/ACC conference and bam we finally have a conference championship game for pac 10 and big 10 teams.

I agree we could have one division of just North and South Carolina teams. We could have an all florida/GA division with UGA/GA Tech/FSU/Miami/Florida/USF

    Really the possibilities are endless.

humm... maybe each tradition should have a certain theme to it.....

like maybe Tradition I is standard
Tradition II is based on every one being in two conferences...
Tradition III is a players using their favorite schools in a differnet confernece...
    Tradition IV is midmajors
Tradition 5 could be players using midmajors in a power conference kind of building a program..
Tradition 6 could be Geography 101... ACC Coastal is all Carolina schools the other division is all florida schools... for example....
    ACC Coastal
    UNC
    Duke
    South Carolina
    Clemson
    Wake Forest
    NC State
    ACC
    miami
    Florida State
    Florida
    USF
    UCF

    just a thought....

The more and more I think about it, the more I want to run with Texas A&M again. Nothing like playing at Kyle Field, even if next year's team is terrible (probably will be).

It'll be nice to pick a team from scratch. When I started this league before season two my choices were Washington, Washington St, and Stanford.

That would have been interesting to see what you could do with Baylor.
