The following are the summaries of the 2011 Nebraska Cornhuskers...
Nebraska Tramples Air Force 52-10
Early it looked like Nebraska had no life, trailing Air Force 10-0, but that changed with 6 minutes left in the 2nd when Kicker/Punter extraordinaire Maher put Nebraska on the board with 3. Following the FG, Nebraska didn't look back as they scored next on the ground (10 yd Martinez TD) and through the air (41 yd TD pass to Kinnie) which put Nebraska up 17-10 at the half.
The 2nd half was a continuation of the 2nd quarter as Martinez hooked up with Bell for a 4 yd TD with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd. RB Rex Burkhead had one of the best runs of the night as he rushed and weaved past defenders on his way to a 64 yd TD run. The Blackshirts got scores of their own, scooping up a fumble by the Air Force RB for a 82 yd return. On their next time out, reserve linebacker Stoddard had his first defensive touchdown as he intercepted the Air Force pitch and rumbed for a 39 yard touchdown to put the cap on the scoring at 52.

Early Struggles Not Indicative Of Score As Nebraska Routs North Texas
Nebraska seems to struggle to get things going recently and last Saturday was no exception. Nebraska scored its first points of the first quarter all year, though it was with 4 seconds left. North Texas finally got on the board with a long pass where 2 Nebraska defenders overran the play. North Texas was playing out of their minds in the first half, sacking Nebraska QB Martinez 4 times and even getting a safety to pull closer. Heading into the half Nebraska led 14-9.
Once again Nebraska decided to wake up in the second half, gaining a 24-9 lead, before North Texas one again split the defenders after catching a pass and rumbling 67 yards for the TD. Nebraska finally tightened things up and stopped North Texas on each of their drives in the 4th quarter. Nebraska ripping off 28 straight points to win the game 52-16.
Martinez 17-29 243yds 1 TD 3 INTs
Burkhead 38-239yds 4 TDs
Martinez 13-30yds 1 TD
Nebraska Demoralized By Wisconsin
Nebraska's early struggles were magnified in a blow out loss to Wisconsin 34-7. Taylor Martinez had pressure on him all day and he struggled. Down 17-0 in the 2nd quarter after a fumble return for a touchdown, Nebraska couldn't get anything going. Nebraska didn't get on the board until the 4th quarter, but by then the game was over. Nebraska will have to play the best they have played all season if they want any chance at beating OSU next week.
Nebraska's Blackshirts Play Huge Part In Victory 31-3
Joe Bauserman had a really tough day against the Blackshirts, throwing 3 INTs and fumbling twice. "Welcome to Memorial Stadium" the Nebraska defense said. Throughout the first half, Nebraska and OSU's defenses were keeping each other in check - both teams snatching INTs. Nebraska got on the board first in the 2nd quarter with Rex Burkhead pounding it in from the 3 to cap the first half scoring - Nebraska 7 OSU 0.
Following OSU's first drive in the 2nd half, Nebraska stayed on the offensive with Rex Burkhead ripping off a 55 yard touchdown to give Nebraska the 14-0 lead. Nebraska and OSU traded FGs in the latter part of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter belonged to Nebraska as Bauserman was rattled multiple times, which resulted in 2 fumbles and an interception that sealed the game for the Huskers. After trying to scramble and getting leveled by Steinkuhler, Burkhead ran for another long TD, this one from 46 yards. Nebraska wasn't through yet, intercepting a WR screen pass and getting all the way to the 1 yd line before being tackled - Rex Burkhead scored from 1 yd out.
Martinez 2-14 7yds 0 TD 1 INT
Burkhead 27-209yds 4 TDs
Nebraska's Mistakes Costly In Loss
Nebraska couldn't get a drive together when it needed to against MSU. Down 17-10, Martinez threw a pass that looked like it was going to go over the blitzing LB's head, but somehow psychic LB jumped up and picked it off 1 handed. Following the INT, MSU's RB ran it up the middle from 42 to seal the game.
Maher Kicks Huskers To Win
Early in the game it looked like Nebraska could run away with it, leading 21-10, but that all changed when Taylor Martinez scrambled out of the pocket to avoid a rush. He got hit at the 30, fumbled and the ball was picked up by Northwestern to inch closer 21-17, but that wasn't the worst thing that happened on the play. Taylor Martinez was down and later we found, would not return to the game. At half the score was 21-17, following a Carnes INT that lead to a TD for Northwestern. The second half was the Heard show, as his consistent running kept getting first downs. Nebraska was able to put another TD on the board in the 3rd, but Northwestern stormed back, scoring 11 points to tie it at 28 going into the 4th. Nebraska's D came up big as it held Northwestern on each of their drives, giving Nebraska a shot to win it in regulation. Heard carried the ball and moved Nebraska to 34 yd line. With a 10 MPH wind in his face, Brett Maher was zoned in and kicked the ball through the uprights for the victory.
Penn State Too Much For Huskers
The Huskers and Penn St were in a near stalemate at halftime with Penn State leading 6-3. Nebraska defense played lights out in the first half, denying Penn St a touchdown on 3 tries from the 5 yd line. In the second half, it was a different story. The Nittany Lion running game found life and moved the ball what seemed like at will. PSU RB Redd had 2 big runs in the game, one in the 3rd quarter in which he broke loose from 2 tackles and ran in from 15 yards. His other was late in the game as the defense was trying to get a big hit or strip the RB, he juked and sidestepped, then outran the defense for 47 yards. Nebraska didn't get on the board until late when Taylor Martinez hooked up with Reed with 30 seconds left to make the score more presentable 27-10.
Michigan Bowls Over Nebraska
Nebraska's run defense woes continued against Michigan, who ran up, over and around the Nebraska D. Early in the game, it looked like the Blackshirts were up to the challenge, but that all changed after the UM RB took it 80 yards in one run to go up 14-0. Nebraska's offense was held in check all day as they could not do anything through the air or on the ground. After Michigan added another score to make it 21-0 in the 4th, Nebraska finally got on the board late in the game. Nebraska attempted to make the score a bit more presentable in the waning minutes of the game, but they couldn't get it done, turning the ball over on 4th down.
Will their woes follow them into next week against Iowa? Only time will tell.
