    Game Summaries to follow

    Week 1

    Florida Atlantic 21
    Nebraska 38

Big Red gets a big win. The Cornhuskers got off to a slow start, but led by new starting QB Latravis Washington the ground game overpowered the Owls and the Blackshirt defense forced 2 turnovers. Washington was nearly unstoppable in the power/option offense. He ran for over 160 yards and threw for another 90. He also ran for 2 touchdowns. HB Roy Helu, Jr led the way on the ground with just over 170 yards and 3 touchdowns. Safety Larry Asante had both picks on defense, which were both forced by the relentless pash rush the Blackshirts mounted. The Huskers are looking forward to next week's match up with Arkansas State.

Big Red got it going in this one!! New Coach dakota is starting to really get a good feel for his players and their abilities. QB LaTravis Washington again led the way, playing a near perfect game. He ran and passed for over 100 yards each, while HB Roy Helu, Jr again ran for over 170 yards and 3 scores. True freshman Rex Burkhead mopped up with 65 yards and 2 scores. Nebraska is traveling this week to Blacksburg, VA for a top 20 match-up with Virginia Tech.

The Nebraska defense was overpowering for the Hokies. DT Ndwamke Suh intercepted a tipped pass on the very first play from scrimmage and returned it 12 yards for a TD and the Huskers never looked back. The Huskers held the Hokies to 129 total yards of offense and forced 2 turnovers. QB LaTravis Washington threw for 118 yards and ran for another 43, while accounting for 3 total touchdowns. The Huskers return home next for a match-up with UL Layfayette.

Did you ever have one of those games where the cpu just seems to play above its abilites? I had one against TTU. Their defense was tough, shut down my option game and basically anything outside. This forced me to basically run up the middle, which Helu had some success at as the game wore on, or run the pa/short pass game, which isn't LaTravis Washington's strength. Helu finished with 160 yards rushing and scored the go ahead TD with 13 seconds on the clock. Iowa State visits Lincoln next week.

When I say the cpu outperformed itself, here's my example. HB Baron Batch is rated 87 ovr, and has 84 break tackle. He had 12 touches (4 rushes and 8 receptions), but broke 6 tackles!! At least I got the win.

In what amounted to a scrimmage, the Huskers were absolutely dominant. Ndamakong Suh is beginning a push for the Heisman Trophy. He had a fumble recovery for a touchdown and also a safety. He is truly dominant. QB Latravis Washington had his best game since being converted from linebacker. He had 330 total yards from scrimmage and 5 total touchdowns. He is developing into a true dual threat. Roy Helu, Jr continues to pile up stats, rushing for 105 and 1 td. He also caught a td pass. The Huskers travel to Texas next week to take on Baylor.

Nebraska has a converted LB at QB? What is he, Tim Tebow on 'roids? I'll have to check out his stats, that's an interesting position move that you don't usually see. I know Texas has John Chiles at WR in 2009 and he can be an awesome dual threat QB if you move him back to QB in 2010.

Nebraska gets the win, but it comes with a huge penalty. Heisman canidate Roy Helu, Jr was lost for the season. Helu broke his collarbone on his second carry of the day. Its a horrible loss for a team that depended on him so heavily. True freshman Rex Burkhead will get the majority of the workload going forward. It is not immediatly known what impact this will have on Helu's plans for the NFL.

QB Latravis Washington was again a force, throwing for 1 score and running for another. WR Niles Paul had 3 scores, 2 receptions and 1 kickoff returned for a touchdown. Next up is rival Oklahoma.

**Had to restart this game, I screwed up and had the wrong playbook at first.**

Ouch. Sorry to hear about Helu, my man. If you want, you can go ahead and drop that game against Oklahoma. That would make our game a little more interesting.

The Blackshirts again dominate, forcing 5 turnovers, 5 sacks and score two touchdowns. QB Latravis Washington was having a great first half with 168 passing yards and 2 rushing scores, when, of course, he is injured and lost for 3 weeks. The offense has gotten really vanilla without Helu and now Washington, good thing the defense managed to outscore the whole Oklahoma team. We'll see if they can outscore Kansas by themselves next week.

The Huskers shut down the Wildcats running game, holding them to 11 yards on 15 carries. Freshman HB Rex Burkhead ran for 174 and 2 scores while Zac Lee threw for 291 and 2 touchdowns. The Huskers have adjusted to the absence of Helu and Washington by going to the air more. Nebraska looks forward to next week's rivalry matchup with Colorado.

The Blackshirts defense was able to impose its will against the Buffaloes and QB Tyler Hansen. Hansen was sacked 9 times and threw 2 picks. The Blackshirts also held the Buffs to only 15 yards rushing. Nebraska was led on offense by QB Latravis Washington, who was making his return from injury. Washington threw for 220 yards on 13 of 17 passing and ran for another 91, including a 73 yard scamper. Here are some highlights.

The Cornhuskers lose a heartbreaker on a last second field goal. Two turnovers crushed the Huskers. Good game Huronia8...we'll meet up next year.

The Cornhuskers were still reeling from their heartbreaking loss in the Big 12 Championship. Coach Dru had his boys fired up...they played great. The Huskers did things in this game they hadn't done all season, they were completely out of their gameplan. Congrats to coach dru, who improves to 2-0 lifetime against coach dakota. There will be more battles........lol.

Good game dakota, I honestly think you should have started your backup QB all game. Your passing with him in the second half was unstoppable.
