    Cornhuskers stunned by Kansas State

Kansas State takes advantage of Cornhuskers miscues.

At the start of the game no one would have imagined it would end with the scoreboard reading KSU 51 - Nebraska 14. This was a game were everything went KSU's way.

The game started with the Wildcat defense forcing the cornhuskers to punt. On their first offensive possesion the Wildcats struck quickly on a 56yd TD pass to TE T. Tannahill. Then on the following kickoff the Cornhuskers caughed up the ball for the 1st time and the Wildcats recovered. A short TD drive was capped off by a 2yd TD run by FB J. Hanley. The Wildcats would add a FG before the end of the quarter to go up 17-0. After forcing another Nebraska punt, QB C. Coffman found TE J. Sutton in the endzone for a 12yd TD. The teams swapped possesions and KSU kicked a 45yd FG with 42 secs left in the half. On the following kick Nebraska caughed up the ball again and this time it was scooped up by J. Hartenbower and returned 25yds for a TD. The score was 34-0 at the half.

The Wildcats got the ball to start the 2nd half and the coach decided to leave his 1st team out on the field to eat some clock and make sure Nebraska didn't get any momentum going. After eating up almost half the quarter, KSU punched in another TD on a 3yd run by star HB D. Thomas. Nebraska fumbled the kickoff for a third time and KSU sent in the backups for the rest of the game. They got a FG after recovering the fumble. Nebraska finally got on the board with 1:14 left in the 3rd on a 6yd. TD run by R. Helu.

Almost mid-way thru the 4th quarter KSU punted to Nebraska. The punt was fumbled and picked up by again by J. Hartenbower who returned it 24yds for the final KSU TD. Nebraska would add another TD with 3 min left to end the scoring.

Helped by 5 Cornhusker turnovers and a "let's jump on them and not let up" mentality, the Kansas State Wildcats notched their biggest victory of the season against their biggest rivals.

    Key Stats:
    QB C. Coffman 11-14 220yds 2 TDs 0 Ints
    HB D. Thomas 19 carries 86yds 1 TD
    TE T. Tannahill 3 receptions 101yds 1 TD
    DE A. Felder 11 tackles, 9 solo, 4 TFL, 1 sack, 1 FF
    WR C. Bachamp 3 tackles, 2 FF
    CB J. Hartenbower 2 tackles, 1 Def, 2 FR, 2 Defensive TDs
