    Nebraska 2009 Season Preview

First season head coach Bo Pelini has the Huskers going in the right direction. After taking the team to a 9-4 record and a huge win over Clemson in the Gator Bowl. Pelini is trying to bring the Blackshirts back to Nebraska and looks to have the Defense to do so. The question remains when will Nebraska be back to elite status. The week 3 match-up with the Hookies will prove just how far Nebraska has come under Pelini. If some how the Husker can escape Blacksburg with a victory look for them to have a huge season.

Prediction: 9-3 and Big 12 North Champions
The big test is September 19th in Blacksburg. It will be a tough season with key games being played away from Lincoln. October 8th vs Missouri could name division winner.

Star of the offense: Junior RB Roy Helu
Star of the defense: Senior DT Ndamukong Suh

What to look for on offense: Look for the combo of Roy Helu Jr. and Quentin Castille to be nightmares for Big 12 defenses. In a leauge not know for the defense. Also look for QB Zac Lee to be a star for Big Red in the years to come. The 6-2, 210-pounder had a great off season and was fantastic in the spring game completing 15-of-18 passes for 214 yards and three scores. He has a nice arm and brings far more speed and quickness than Gantz ever did.The receivers have speed speed and more speed but look for TE Mike McNeill to be the star of the recieving corps.

What to look for on defense: Look for Nebraska to have the best defense in the Big 12. Led by super DT Ndamukong Suh who turned down millions to stay in Nebraska. With teams doubling and triple teaming Suh look for Pierre Allen to have a good year. He has tremendous speed and quickness. Pelini the master of defense should have the Blackshirts ready for action.

    Ten Best Husker Players
    1. DT Ndamukong Suh, Sr.
    2. DE Pierre Allen, Jr.
    3. SS Larry Asante, Sr.
    4. TE Mike McNeill, Jr.
    5. DE Barry Turner, Sr.
    6. RB Roy Helu, Jr.
    7. OT Mike Smith, Jr.
    8. LB Phillip Dillard, Sr.
    9. QB Zac Lee, Jr.
    10. DT Baker Steinkuhler, RFr.
