Following a 10-6 campaign ending in the AFC Championship, the Patriots looked to the off-season with much worry about whether or not Franchise Quarterback Tom Brady would retire or not. Invigorated by last year's success, Brady decided he would stick it out for another year.
On a tight budget and needing to fill many gaps in the O-line and Defense, the Patriots sought out highly experienced veterans at low salaries to fill the void for at least a year.
The off-season also saw a trade between the Houston Texans for the 75th pick (Cleveland Browns) for sparingly used HB Shane Vereen.

His time in Washington destroyed his speed rating, I couldn't see it during FA. Had to cut him (n)

    Year 2 Off-season Recap
After coming up just short in the Superbowl after a 14-2 season, the New England Patriots were excited to have Tom Brady return for another year, but lost two powerhouse names in Ed Reed and Vince Wilfork to retirement. With a lot of depth looking towards the free agent market, the Patriots had a lot of wiggle room to go out and fill the gaps in the roster.
The off-season also a huge trade between the Pats and Seahawks with Rob Gronkowski and a 2017 3rd Round pick departing for Jeremy Lane (CB), 2nd Round Pick in 2016, and a 1st Round Pick in 2017.

    Off-season Signings:
    Thomas DeCoud (FS), 85 OVR
    Justin Tuck, (LE), 85 OVR
    Barry Cofield (DT), 83 OVR
    Pat Sims (DT), 83 OVR
    Antonio Gates (TE), 84 OVR
    Zach Miller (TE), 83 OVR
    Dan Connolly (RG), 79 OVR
    Dominic Raiola (C), 77 OVR
    Brett Kern (P), 77 OVR
