    • Team Needs
      • We need a lot! Devin Harris, Troy Murphy, Brooke Lopez, and Derrick Favors may be the only retainable pieces from this current roster but none of 'em are untouchable. We seriously lack a scorer and picking up a FA immediately seems like the right thing for us to do if we're going to be competitive this season. We will not repeat the 12-70 diaster this season, bottom line up front!

New Nets' GM/Coach Sign Larry Hughes

Newark,NJ- The newly hired GM/Coach of the NJ Nets, JerzeyReign, did not waste any time in shaking up the roster as he has signed NBA journeyman Larry Hughes to a 1yr/2.65 mil deal earlier today. Hughes looks to add a bit of a scorers' mentality to the futile Nets.

To make room for Hughes, Orien Greene was waived.

    Lopez,Nets Overcome Pistons

Prudential Center,NJ- Brook Lopez remembered the embarassing losses from last season. This offseason he worked on his game a little bit longer to improve and to avoid last season's diaster. For one night him and his Nets were on top. For one night it seems like the Nets may have turned a corner. Lopez led the Nets with 33 points in Coach JerzeyReign's debut as they toppled the Pistons 99-95.

New Jersey had to overcome an early 15 point deficit and 11-1, 14-3 runs in the 3rd and 4th periods did just that as Detroit just ran out of gas. Newly acquired Larry Hughes dropped in 19 as New Jersey outscored the Pistons 60-46 in the second half. Rookie Derrick Favors cleaned up on the glass as he snatched 15 boards.

Ben Gordon had 25 points, 18 in the first quarter, to pace the Pistons.

New Jersey (1-0) will host the Sacramento Kings on Friday at 7pm.

Farmar looks for an opening versus the Kings
Prudential Center- The Nets improve to 2-0 on the young season with a 89-78 win over the Sacramento Kings. With Devin Harris struggling with foul trouble the whole game Jordan Farmar provided a spark. The NBA vet played 32 minutes racking up 11 points, 4 assists, and one steal on the night. Devin Harris struggled in his 16 minutes finishing with 6 points and two assists.
The Nets were once again led by big man Brook Lopez as he scored 28 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the home team. Last season's Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans led the Kings with 19 points on 5-21 shooting. The Nets took control of the game with a key 3rd quarter, outscoring the Kings 26-16 in the frame.
New Jersey has one more game left on their current homestand as they take on the new look Miami Heat.

    James, Heat Sneak By Nets
    [IMG]
James had 28 points in Miami's 101-100 win Sunday
Prudential Center- The Big 3 have started their tenure in Miami mighty slow entering Sunday's game 0-2 and probably looked at New Jersey as a stat game. A stat game it was not as Miami needed all 48 minutes to hold off the pesky Nets 101-100. Lebron James led the visitors with 28 points including the game winning free throws with 1.6 left. Dwayne Wade had 17 points, a career high 12 rebounds, and 7 assist to help the Heat to their first win of the season.
After building a 13 point second half lead thanks to a big 3rd quarter, the Heat got into a struggle in the 4th. Brook Lopez (28 points 15 rebounds) and Derrick Favors (21 points 4 rebounds) led the late Nets charge before coming up short.
The Nets end the first month of the regular season with a 2-1 record, their first winning month in a long time. The Nets hope to continue their early season success as they host the Charlotte Bobcats to open up November.

DJ Augustin Leads Bobcats Over Nets
    [IMG]
Prudential Center- The Charlotte Bobcats snuck past the Nets 104-101 as DJ Augustin exploded for 27 points in the victory. A tight game throughout turned favor to the Bobcats after the Nets' Brook Lopez (19 points,5 rebounds) fouled out with 4:44 left in a tied ball game. Without the big guy in the middle the Bobcats were able to take advantage in the paint with little resistance. Stephen Jackson (23 points) and Gerald Wallace (20 points) helped Charlotte secure their third win of the season. Devin Harris led the Nets with 22 points to go along with 7 assists but 7 turnovers led to easy Bobcat baskets. Travis Outlaw snatched a career high 15 rebounds as the Nets as a team outrebounded the smaller Bobcats 51-34 in the loss.

    Favors, Nets Crush Cavs
    [IMG]
Prudential Center- The New Jersey Nets got their first look of the Lebron-less Cavs and got a little revenge on the franchise that has embarassed them over the past few seasons. Rookie Derrick Favors poured in 26 points and grabbed 9 rebounds as the Nets spanked the Cavs 114-81 on Tuesday. Troy Murphy added 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Nets improved to 4-3. Anthony Parker led the Cavs with 26 points but Cleveland just couldn't shake a slow start as NJ jumped out to a 32-21 lead after one and never looked back.
The Cavs will need to forget about this one quickly as they host this same Nets team tomorrow night at Quicken Loans arena.

    Press Conference

    1. At 5-3 your already just about halfway to last year's win total, are you surprised? Surprised? No. I wasn't here last year so that is none of my concern. That wasn't my locker room. My only focus is this year. 5 and 3 is nothing to be excited for, next question.

    2. How long do you think Lopez can keep playing at a high level? Is he your 'star'? I think he's ready to lead this team. How long can he keep this up? As long as he determines. We're on his back, how long he can carry us is up to him. Hopefully, the load isn't too much and the guys can help him out but he is 'our guy'.

    3. What pieces do you need to keep this early season momentum up? We're fine at the moment. Every team can add a piece here and there to push them even further but until that deal comes across our table we'll settle with the guys we've got. I think our current roster can compete in the East. We're 0-3 versus teams with .500 or better records so we still have a ways to go but we're winning the games we have a shot in, which is what you need to build some confidence going into the marquee games.

    4. What Eastern Conference team do you measure yourself up to? You have to look at Orlando, Boston, and Miami. We lost a close one to Miami in our place and turned around and beat them at their place. We haven't played Boston yet and Orlando smoked us. We're not consistent at this point of the season so its kind of hard to tell. Ask me this question after the All Star break when teams are playing their best and have really gelled. I don't think Miami is at that level yet but once they get their they'll be favorites, thats for sure.

    5. What goals do you have at this stage of the season? We're taking this season two weeks at a time. Over the course of two weeks we need to have a winning record. If we can do that we'll be in good shape for a playoff run. Playoff run... words sound foreign around here, right? :chuckles and attention returns to practice:

Nets Use Team Effort In Win
    Nets Knock Off Magic 104-87
    [IMG]

Prudential Center- The New Jersey Nets proved their last meeting with the Magic may have been just a case of nervousness. They came out Saturday night clicking on all cylinders as they dominated the Magic in a 104-87 win. A balanced attack helped the Nets slay the powerful Orlando team as all starters reached double figures led by Brook Lopez with 19. Devin Harris had the biggest impact on the game as he stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 13 assists, 6 rebounds, and one block.

The Magic were led by Jason Richardson's 25 (Gilbert Arenas 22 points) but a 7/36 performance from deep doomed the Magic. Dwight Howard had 8 first quarter points but the Magic failed to throw the ball inside on their '3 pointer party' in this one.

The Nets are currently on a four game winning streak and look to keep the great play going as they head out on the road for their next four games. The Nets are now 6-3 on the year.
