    New Mexico 2010 Summaries

    ((No Pictures - Sorry))

Oregon - The Lobos had a tough fight ahead of them. The game didn't seem to be going in their favor from the get - go. They would march down field and score, then give up a big play to the speedy RB or Speedy WR. Simple Mistakes that can and WILL be corrected. They allowed 466 yards of Total Offense, 172 on the ground and 294 through the air.

The Lobos did however sneak away with this game, after a few big plays by their True Freshman. R. Black lead the defense with 7 tackles, 1 sack, and an INT. The second of the true freshman monster this game was C. Wright who had 4 tackles, and an INT.

The freshman all looked really good, but the true story was the running game that was quite suspect. Carrier stepped in last year and had a decent year, but in his first game - he broke the UNM rushing record as he carried the ball 44 times for an amazing 301 yards. Averaging 6.8 yards a carry with a 30 long. He did only have one touchdown but this aided the Lobos in much needed clock management keeping the quick striking ducks on the sidelines.

Yeager didn't have a very good day, as he went 7-22 for 3 TDs, 2 Ints, and 140 yards. He is trying to fill a void that Porterie left, and will hopefully step in and over time turn into a much needed threat. Gruner did step in for one toss and threw a touchdown from 24 yards deep. This QB Job is very much in a toss up - and likely will become a two headed monster.

The Lobos won 44-37 in a thrilling game, They look to correct their errors and be a worthy opponent. This young team has a lot of maturing to do - but with the right tools, the possibilities are endless.

The New Mexico Lobos made their first official signing today.
Christian Pearson, Cornerback from Denham Springs, LA. Ranked as a 2-star the Lobos saw alot of potential within his break away speed and agility. His decent coverages and his ability to break on the ball.

With the Lobos young team, A spot is always up for grabs and the competition is fierce. Welcome to Lobo Nation Christian Pearson :2stars:

Wyoming - Who showed up this week to play the New Mexico Lobos? It surely didn't look like a division A team, atleast not until the 3rd and 4th stringers got on the field and the Wyoming Starters starting scoring points.

The defense of the Cowboys was more like starting gate for the pack of lobos that each ran for over 100 yards. Yes, The work pack is what was ment there as Carrier the starter halfback was pulled in the third after rushing for 133 yards, the backup Brown ran for 112 in 5 carries, and was immediately pulled, and then the third string back Dennis ran for 107. The fourth back was only allotted 9 carries for 29 yards but it was all smashmouth at that point.

The Lobos offense showed no spark but immediate fire as they ran for over 400 yards total and threw for a staggering 250 on 13 completions. This game made a mockery of the cowboys, and the Lobos are still out for blood after falling short of the TCU Frogs....

Can the Lobos get their momentum back and take control of the MWC or will their loss to the Horneytoads prove disastrous.
