New Mexico Lobos 2010 Recruiting Class

After signing on to coach the Lobos in late December, new head coach Saban has pieced together a solid class in just 5 weeks.

    1. CB ***** Kareem Riley 6'2" 174 lbs.
-the second rated CB prospect in the country could play immediately
-compares in stature to former Auburn CB Carlos Rogers
    2. HB *** Antwan Pierce 6'0" 210 lbs.
-most likely headed for a redshirt year
-reminds us of former Tenn HB Gerald Riggs, Jr.
    3. WR *** Anthony Norman 6'4" 210 lbs.
-lacks elite speed, but is big and physical
-reminds us of Alabama WR Julio Jones
    4. TE *** Freddie Burns 6'5" 239 lbs.
-will play immediately in Saban's wide-open offense
-much like former Missouri TE Martin Rucker but a step slower.
    5. G ** Aaron Garcia 6'3" 305 lbs.
-will fight for early playing time
    6. T ** Tyrone Austin 6'6" 290 lbs.
-will be back up at RT and take over as a So.
    7. DE ** Chris Buchanan 6'7" 280 lbs.
    -will see immediate playing time
-has all the physical tools to be a star
    8. DE ** Demarcus Medley 6'4" 283 lbs.
-could be heading for a redshirt
    -very raw player
    9. DT ** Richard Garcia 6'5" 265 lbs.
-will see playing time in '11
    10. MLB ** Terry Callahan 5'10" 222 lbs.
-one of two signees under the previous coaching staff
-look for him to play early at a MLB position with NO depth
    11. OLB ** Nick Ross 6'0" 212 lbs.
-will be back up at ROLB
-the undersized Ross makes up for his small stature with speed

Saban was pleased with his first recruiting class and hopes to keep this momentum heading into his first season at New Mexico. He also commented that he expects to throw the ball 35-40 times a game with experienced Sr. QB Brad Gruner running the show.
