    *NEW* TBL Salary Cap

    Alright everyone,

As we prepare for the Online League it is time to announce how we will be keeping track of salary caps to kind of even out the teams a bit per se. By going to "manage roster" within the Online League you are given the option to release, call up/send players, and view player salaries. This is how we will be keeping track of each teams cap. The cap at this point is TBD as I am compiling the league average to make a proper judgment. By Clickin HERE you can see how I am doing so.

Each team will be required to have 40 players on their 40 man roster. A player's cap point salary is determined by their "in game salary" and divided by 100,000 and rounded to the nearest point. For example, Chad Billingsley's salary is 9.9 Mil, there for his cap point is 99 (9,900,000/100,000=99).

As I mentioned before, I will be deciding a league average shortly and posting what every team needs to be under on a daily basis.

If you have any questions shoot me a msg on aim!

    Thanks,
    Frisk

aight guys well we have come to a bit of a crossroads. What should the TBL salary cap be? I realize there isn't a salary cap in the MLB but I want to encourage some free market activity here.

Please refer to this HERE to see your team's salary.

So after looking at these salaries we can have one of the following choices. Please pick the one you think will work best. Please keep in mind that some big name players that are released by other can be paid more than their current contract (like bidding).

    1. 100 Million (1,000 cap pts)
    2. 120 Million (1,200 cap pts)
    3. 160 Million (1,600 cap pts)
    4. 180 Million (1,800 cap pts)

Please post which one you like and why!

    Thanks,
    Frisk

I don't think this is going to work. Teams with high salaries are going to vote for a larger average, and teams with low salaries are going to vote for lower numbers so the higher capped teams are forced to release people.

I think you might have to just pick a number. However, my answer is 180M ;)

also shuffman the league average is 79 mil. That is far too low because many premier players that are released will most likely be signed with a much higher salary.

just take the middle of the row number 120M. that should give the high salary teams at least a little flexibility and maybe give them a few day window to work out a trade to get under that number or release a few guys.

Perhaps throw out the top three teams' salaries as well as the bottom three. Then take the average of the rest. That might give a more realistic figure...

Why would anybody trade with a team that is way over the limit when they can just add there guys off the wire?

because there is a chance that guys they are picking up from FA will be far more exapensive. For example, if you trade Jeter at 20 mil then the other owner takes on his salary. If you drop him I guarantee there will be a bid session for him which starts at 20 mil, so there is a chance that his salary may go up much more.

Throwing out the top 3 and bottom 3 salaries puts the average at...

    88 million

Throwing out the bottom 6 salaries puts us at...

    104 million

Throwing out the top 6 salaries puts us at...

    76 million

I don't like how the bidding has to start at their previous salary. This pretty much assures that you will have to way overpay to get a player of decent caliber due to the bidding. Interest will naturally drive the price up to around how much they really are worth, but if you have to start the bidding at the player's previous contract, Its going to balloon their salary.

I hardly doubt that a Derek Jeter is going to be worth 40 million, because his cap is going to start around 25.
