We're almost a full week into the new season and already seven out of ten matches have been played. Below are up to date results. Out of teams who have played both of their matches, Hamburg has risen to the top with 4 points. Nothing too surprising there, as they're one of the favorites for promotion and a title contender. Their clash with another promotion favorite, Napoli, turned out to be a defensive stalemate ending at 0-0. Another 0-0 was Lyon's trip to Benefica, as both sides made it hard for the other to find any space at all throughout the match. There were also two other draws and overall, rather low scores. Three matches had two goals scored by one team. Are we witnessing a change in philosophy in the league or just good defense? Spanish side Valencia will tell you they're more than happy to now attempt to keep possession and not rush an attack. One thing is for certain and that is it looks like defensive skills are going up, regardless of attacking philosophies. Two other sides who find themselves in a good position are Fulham and Istanbul BB, who each picked up a win in their one game played. If either win, they'll be top of the table at the end fo week one. AC Milan are a team who seemed to have a bit of a troubling start, as they gained 1 point out of two matches. The team has a lot of talent, though, so their season is definitely far from over. As for where other sides sit, the current standings can be seen below.
