In what would be their 3rd matchup of the season and the 2nd game in 7 days, the Bucs traveled into New Orleans for a NFC Wild Card match-up. The regular season series was split but the Saints held the momentum as they had just beat the Bucs no more than 7 days prior to this game.

The 1st qtr. was seemingly uneventful as both teams felt each other out and exchanged FGs. The 2nd quarter however was quite different.A lengthy drive led by Bucs QB Mike Glennon was capped off when Glennon connected with rookie phenom WR Mike Evans on a slant route in the endzone, which Evans hauled in one handed. The Bucs defense would hold strong and force a Saints but the offense would not do anything with the ball and punt it right back. The Saints offense finally made some noise behind the arm and legs of veteran QB Matt Cassel. Cassel led an impressive drive through the Bucs defense that was highlighted by an impressive 5-yd QB scramble and dive into the endzone. The Bucs got the ball right back and KR Jeff Demps had a very impressive return to near midfield but the Bucs offense only managed one 1st down and had to settle for a 50yd FG which K Jake Rogers banged through. On the Saints ensuing possession, Bucs DE Michael Johnson would bust through the Saints oline and tally the sack and force a Matt Cassel fumble deep in Saints territory. The Bucs would take advantage of the turnover and add 7 points to the scoreboard on a 2-yd run by FB Lonnie Pryor with 36-secs remaining on the clock before halftime. But the veteran QB Matt Cassel would not let the fumble get to him and with :30secs left he would find rookie WR Brandin Cooks down the deep left sideline for a 50-yd reception which would also have a roughing the passer penalty tacked on. Cassel would not be finished as he would find his own FB Eric Lorig for a 2-yd TD reception.

    Halftime Score

Both offenses would be less than medicore in the 3rd quarter exchanging interceptions. The Saints would gather the lead and the momentum when OLB Junior "Junya" Galette would sack and force a fumble from QB Mike Glennon deep in Bucs territory which Galette would recover and take in the endzone and ensue his Donkey Kong dance.

    3rd Qtr. Score

Both offenses would continue to struggle into the 4th quarter as the defenses stiffened up. The Bucs were able to get an early 4th qtr, FG to bring the game to withing 1-point. The Bucs would again force a Saints punt and with 1:43 left on the game clock they took the lead on a Jake Rogers 26yd FG.

Matt Cassel and the Saints would have one last drive but on a 4th and 4 from mid-field Bucs All=Pro LB Lavontae David would step in front of a Cassel pass and haul in the game sealing interception and punch the Bucs ticket to the Divisional Playoff round.

    Final Score

Unbelievable game ThaBayouChef . It sucks that one of us had to lose it. I have a feeling though that a Saints-Bucs rivalry was ignited here and I cant wait for next seasons games.
