remember guys, demo webcast tomorrow at 2pm est, i think up until 4pm. http://www.easports.com/nhl/promo/nhl-webcast
I am looking forward to being surprised when I open my first Demo HUT pack, so I might be okay missing it.
I'll say the dame thing here as in the HUT thread. I have never been more disappointed reading a pre-release article on a game. No salary cap. Training only lasts for one game then resets. Basically, the point of HUT now is to load up on NHL superstars and not even bother with young guys, when previously players had to balance the salary cap with NHL superstars and training up young guys with long contracts to stay under the cap. Never thought I'd say this, but Madden Ultimate Team looks better than NHL Ultimate Team. Hopefully FIFA doesn't get this noobification of the game mode.
i like the no careers though.. as for the other stuff, no cap, etc. that sucks. i do like the multiple lineups as well, just to bad we cant use a cap with those as well. bah.
The no cap takes everything out of the mode. No reason to ever groom a young player, since training only lasts one day. It's going to be 3 loaded lines with superstars and then a 4th line of either more superstars for some people or Lucic style players to beat and bang. No strategy involved whatsoever. No getting super happy about a 80 game contract card to put on a Nugent-Hopkins or a Yakupov to lock in their low salary then boost them up. I have lost all excitement for HUT, and that means EA loses money out of me buying packs occasionally.
It would still be a valid mode if they forced similar star teams to face one another. For instance I play all Euro's and have a *** team. I don't want to get matched up with a team of all 99's on their 1st two lines or I just back out. This years sucked and it had zero match-making in HUT but it did in versus. Apparently though this year is no different If not for the new GM mode, not sure I would have even purchased it this year. But it will breath life into the game with the group we have here.
Hey some good news, I read that they are now actually implementing matchmaking this year for HUT tournaments!! "All-New Tournaments Test your skills and see where you stand by playing in all-new tournaments for beginners, or go for glory in action-packed tournaments targeting the best Hockey Ultimate Team players on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. In addition to awarding pucks, tournaments feature pack rewards for winning teams, a three-tier playoff format, and exclusive matchup logic with users from the same event." Some of the tournaments will require caps, of star level, etc. I hope this isn't BS, would really be sweet to make a WJC team of 19 year olds again.
Patch Information below.. http://www.easports.com/nhl/news/article/nhl-13-title-update-coming-early-next-week --- NHL 13 Title Update Coming Next Week Dear NHL 13 Fans, Since the release of NHL 13 last month the EA SPORTS NHL development team has been hard at work, trying to make your gaming experience even better. We’ve been monitoring fan feedback on Twitter, Facebook, our forums and fan sites and want to thank all of our fans who have been providing valuable feedback. This week we will be deploying a patch that will help address a number of issues that have been raised by the community, as well as those that have been noticed internally by our development team. Thank you again for all the feedback, and keep it coming.
Hitting might be fixed? Maybe I'll finally enjoy this game again instead of me taking 8 steps at a guy, blowing him up to the point that I should be thrown out of the game, and having the guy bounce off, but a defenseman not moving can throw a forward 5 feet.
funny thing is, i have zero issues with hitting. i destroy people with a sniper build. 6'2 205, 80 aggressiveness, 71 checking, thats it. i think height and weight play bigger role than last year with it. so im curious as to if now i will be even to hit more.. i hope not! also glad to see they fixing the choppiness of the eashl games, frame rate issues..
I was playing with a 6'5, 235 defensive D man with 85 checking, aggressiveness, and strength and my checks bounced off. I changed to a 6'1, 200 TWD with default checking, 75 strength, and 68 aggression, and my hits are far more brutal. Right now, it's impossible to Kronwall someone. Any sort of straight line check does nothing.
time up your hits, with a well timed press of the L-Stick as well. i always tap that in prior to hitting the right stick. myself and a few of my team buds just smash people.. like i said, with a sniper build of all things. test that out.
That's my whole point. Everything for hitting is completely backwards. I can destroy people with a smaller, less skilled checking player, but a bigger guy can't streamroll somebody.
ahh, my fault, when you said brutal, i thought you meant it didnt work either. yeah, smaller buds can pound people.. although when i drop below 6'1 200 in general, i cant hit. yet 6'2 205 is a wrecking ball.
Yeah, I can't figure out how to blow someone up by the boards when their head is down (i'm also not seeing it happen when someone else tries it), but it seems that the sliders not working right has checking being reversed for how it should work. Not saying a little guy shouldn't be able to hit at all, but a Andy Sutton type guy putting his weight into a check should at least make a guy lose the puck and stumble.
are you talking offline vs cpu? hitting vs the CPU is a mess in general. they seem to know when you are going to hit them on normal and hardcore mode. i struggle myself.. put on casual and you can smash them like guys online. its weird..
