I understood why they did it, but it was still annoying. Glad to see I can buy used sports games again.
The fact that there are rumors of an Xbox that is always online thus making used games unusable makes me furious. Hoping it isn't a thing. But no online passes is a good sign
The whole movement towards downloading the games versus having a hard copy kind of scares me because that stuff gets messed up a lot. I have like 2 or 3 videos that we bought through Xbox Marketplace that my Xbox just wont let me watch for no reason. Not to mention one of my favorite things when I was younger was bringing my Madden or NCAA or whatever to a friends place to play, all that will be out the window as well.
All those mid night releases are some of the best nights/days of my life. Chilling with my dudes all day and night playing NCAA is just a great experience
i'm thinking of it in the lines that you have to have a gold membership. From what i read/heard you can still play single player modes offline.
There's always the PS4. In all seriousness, I'm a huge xbox guy, but am no means tied to that console. At least we have some options.
It's just like come on. And same goes to Nintendo. They've now started putting copyright claims on any Lets Players who post on YouTube. All it is is a fucking money grab
I think Xbox will eventually do away with this. The amount of money made with used games will hurt once lost. And places like GameStop and as you said GameFly will go out of business this way which will also hurt new game sales.
from what i hear from my gamestop friend is that this is just a ploy to get into the used game market. MS and sony both tried to make a deal with Gamestop a few years ago, but both sides wouldn't budge(GS wanted to only give them 3-4% and they wanted 8-10%). Friend also stated that when you buy used games for the "one" that you will get a code that will "unlock" the game. So this is basically just MS forcing GS hands to get what they want.
With all of this, I know the XBox 2 and PS5 better be backwards compatible. With the way this industry is going, I'll be damned if I have 50+ saved games downloaded that I can't trade/sell, locked on my box. June 10th can't get here soon enough.
