Here, we will look into to what could equate to the saving grace for the manager of the Tigers. Although the 2027 has dramatically turned around and is looking good (14-6 over last 20), if the team does not reach .500 ball by the this or next season all is for not. Enter, arguably the best pitcher in the 2026 Draft, Norm "Humpty" Wood. Wood is a 6'7" southpaw with 4 devastating pitches. Wood began his career last year in the Detroit system in Rookie ball starting 13 games while posting a 1.94 era & 11.4 K/9. This year he began the season in A ball starting 7 games before being moved into AA ball. The goal is to get Wood to the starting rotation by the beginning of 2028. His control is coming around pretty quickly. At this rate he should have no problem getting to the bigs by next year. You plan on pushing him up to AAA late in the season?
You made a thread for a minor leaguer that failed his goal... "The goal is to get Wood to the starting rotation by the beginning of 2027." Move this to the MiLB thread
About time $25 mil development budget starts paying off. I worry about him losing the potential on his pitch ratings mostly pushing him to quickly. As long as he stays healthy and continues to dominate games, I may leave him in AA and move him up for ST next year.
