Mean Green Finally put it together

    Whips Indiana 42-17

    Denton, Texas-

On a rainy day in Denton, Texas the Mean Green of North Texas came alive for the first time. Naturally, the Mean Green got into a 14-0 hole right off the bat. This meant it would be up to much-maligned Quarterback Derrick Thompson. Thompson put the team on his back and started slinging the ball all over Denton, finishing with 346 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and NO INTERCEPTIONS.

On the day, the Mean Green ammassed 568 yards of offense. Lance Dunbar finished the day with 179 yards on 35 carries and 2 scores.

Whether this is a blip on the radar, or a sign of things to come, it was nice to finally walk off of the field as winners for the first tie this season.

Next up for the Mean Green is a 40 minute trip down I-35 to face off with the Mustangs of SMU. Hopefully the offensive fireworks continue for the Mean Green

North Texas loses shootout with SMU

    56-38

    Dallas, TX -

Up 10-7 early in the game, the Mean Green seemd like they were playing well. That was until SMU QB Kyle Padron unleashed the dogs of hell. I will not go into detail, but the final line for Padron 33-44, 536 yards and 8 TDs.

UNT managed another solid offensive game, they just lacked the overall firepower to compete with the Mustangs. Caught up in the spirit of the game, Coach Erickson abandoned the normally conservative approach. He knew that SMu would keep the pedal to the floor and in order to keep up, this style was necessary. They did manage 532 yards on the day, marking their 2nd straight 500 yard performance.

North Texas Notches 2nd Win of the Season

    Dispatches Conference Foe, FAU 42-14

    Denton, TX -

For the 3rd straight week , the Mean Green offense exploded for over 475 yards of offense. This time, it resulted in a 42-14 win in Sun Belt Conference action against Florida Atlantic. The Owls had the game tied 14-14 in the second quarter, but a long passing TD and a pick-6 at the end of the first half put UNT in 28-14 and they never looked back. On the opening play of the 3rd quarter, backup running back James Hamilton took a hand-off and exploded 78 yards untouched up the middle to effectively end the game. North Texas ran the clock down for the rest of the game to ice the win.

James Hamilton ran for 178 yards in relief of starter Lance Dunbar to take player of the game honors.

North Texas improves to 5-4 with a 20-10 win over Arkansas State

Runnin Back Lance Dunbar ran for 250 yards, and Dodson passed for 250 more as once again the Mean Green ammased over 500 yards of offense. With one more win, an improbable bowl birth could be on the horizon. After a 1-4 start, things could not be better in Denton, Texas.

That is unless it rained, that would totally rule and be better than a fake 5-4 football team...
